Diva's journey to GOAL
Irene, you're such an inspiration. I joined this group, even though I technically have more than 30 lbs to my goal. I feel like I'm in the home stretch, but the weight is just hanging ON! I have lost only 4 lbs. in 2 months, and I feel like I could do better, so I am going to work harder. I love reading what you're doing and it's helping me be more motivated. Congrats on coming so far, and I'm so proud of you!

Menstrual Cup?
I just got a Moon Cup (the UK kind) at my sister's insistence that I try it because they are so awesome. I haven't tried it yet, but I like the idea. Hopefully I'll love it as much as she does.

Easter Sunday - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???
I would like to set an aggressive goal, but I don't want to be disappointed, so I'm going for something that I think I can do. With the way i have been stalling recently, even this will be a long shot probably. I am really going to concentrate on my exercise (and not eating Cadbury eggs, the evil devils) in the next 10 weeks. Good luck to everyone! Coffee coffee coffee
I think I drink more coffee post-op than I did pre-op. I drink it with sugar free creamer or use milk and sugar free syrup to keep the carbs down, but I have 3-4 cups nearly every day. I do full caffeine in the morning at work (because that's what is available), but I like decaf just as much.

I SURVIVED THE SUPERBOWL PARTY!! DID YOU?
I had to work so I was sure I'd do fine, but everyone brought food to work, and it was hard to stick with only protein snacks. I did okay, but I did eat a cookie. It was delicious!

4 months post-op

I tried this recipe recently and liked it. It's a chicken salad of sorts, but with hot sauce. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Accidental-Grilled-Chicken-Salad/Detail.aspx

Appetite Suppressant Pre-Op?
I agree with most of the others -- it's not worth it. I used Phentermine more than once in the past, and while I did lose some weight, the side effects are a pain in the butt. My blood pressure was always fine, but my heart rate runs a little high naturally, so I was always having palpitations if I didn't stay hydrated. You've got a month until surgery, and you don't want to do something that might actually risk your health in that time. I did a 2 week very low-carb, high protein diet pre-op, and lost 12 lbs. in that 2 weeks. I would say you could do just as well low-carbing it as you can with Phentermine, and in a healthier way.

Eating out
Your situation is different from mine, but I think the best thing is to just realize that when you go out, you're going to waste food. I actually kind of like the idea that I'm not cleaning my plate these days, but it is not economical by any means to go out and spend $20 for 6 bites. I would say if you can find something you would really like and that will actually make good leftovers, that's the way to go. I love omelettes, but they are terrible for heating up the next day, so I usually choose something else. My husband and I both had the surgery, so he will usually share with me. We do, however, have vastly different tastes. We've never ordered even close to the same thing at restaurants, so this has been a bit of a challenge for us. We usually just try to pick what we think will have really good protein, but not many carbs. If we can't come to an agreement, I have my kiddo share with me. I'm always up for a burger (minus the bun for me) or a soft taco, and that's what he eats at 9/10 of the places we go. He's almost 8, but we can order the kids meal and share usually. My husband is really good about eating leftovers, too. He'll eat nearly anything warmed up the next day. We were out of town shopping the other day, and he was annoyed because we went out for lunch instead of supper. He didn't get to bring all of the shrimp home that I left on my plate because we had nowhere to put it.

I'm in the CENTURY CLUB!!!
Way to go, Irene!! I always enjoy reading your posts, because they're so positive and helpful. You've done fabulously well, and I know you'll just keep going and get to goal! I also just got to 100 lbs. lost since my highest ever weight. Can you imagine trying to lift 100 lbs? I'm not even sure I could do that! I can remember going in to get Phentermine pills and weighing 335.8 at that doctor's office. I was so embarrassed and horrified. That was about 2 years ago, and obviously the Phentermine didn't work, but I'm just so excited to finally have something that is working.
