  4. I am 2 weeks post op today, and really starting to feel great. And the best part is I am down almost 20 pounds! I will be the first to admit I was having a really hard time the first 10 days until I figured I just needed to be creative to get through my full liquids diet. So I found Lobster Bisque Soup, 110 calories, 2 grams of fat and 8 grams of Protein. I mixed it up with some skim milk, blended it with my stick blender, put it through a strainer and it was awesome! 5. Hi, everyone! Well, I'm definitely going to get the sleeve. But that won't be until September and I'd like to work on losing some weight before then. But I'm just having a really hard time getting started. I have such an addiction to processed, sugary, fatty food that even going ONE day without it seems hard. Once I get going, I'm fine, but this time, it's just really difficult for me. Does anyone have any suggestions to kick-start themselves? Kicks in the pants are very welcome, too. Thanks! Ann

  9. Hello Everyone, I have been looking for a ready to drink protiein shake that I can have for lunch and may be sometimes for breakfast on the weekends. I have tried Muscle Milk, Muscle Milk Light, EAS, Premier Protein, Synthia-6 and Atkins ready to drink protien shakes. I dont like any of them so I just happened come across an add for these Slim Fast Low Carb drinks which come in chcololate and vanilla flavors. When I was doing my 2 week pre-op diet, I was allowed the Slim Fast Optima drinks and I really enjoyed the taste but they have way too many carbs for post-op. I have not found them anywhere is the stores in Bakersfield, CA so I will have to order them online in bulk;…

So I found peanut flour posted somewhere... perhaps eggface, and looked around for it on the net. I found a product that looked good, with nothing in it but ground partially defatted roasted peanuts, and bought some to experiment with. 1/4 cup 110 calories 4gms fat 4gms Fiber 8gms carbs 16 gms protein!!! I opened the bag, stuck my finger in, and tasted the powder. Peanutty yumness!,. Next I mixed it about 50/50 with Water and a little salt and stevia ( I started with a little less than 50% water and worked my way up to a nice creamy thick consistency) I smeared it on a cracker and.... I am new to the forums and trying to get all my questions answered, this board has been great. My surgery has not been booked yet but i am getting very close. I question has to do with Water consumption and staying hydrated. I am not as concerned about post op, i am more concerned about 1,2,6 or more months out. Will i still be able to drink plenty of water and fluids or are they restricted from now on after surgery? Thank you.

  12. I am curious to know if we are supposed to be doing an Atkin's type diet restricting all carbs after being sleeved? I have read sooooo many posts on here that are following strict low carb diets. I once did the Atkin's diet successfully for about 9 months and lost 50lbs. However I was just plum sick of not ever having any bread or pasta or potatoes and as soon as I tried to gradually introduce any carbs..... I began to stop losing weight and gain rapidly!!!! Needless to say, I am extremely afraid of this happening to me again. Plus one of the main reasons that I had this surgery was because I didn't ever want to have to go through that kind of struggle again of eat…

Hi, I'm 1 week post op and started pureed food today. I wasn't able to get much down for breakfast, but lunch and dinner were another matter! I had pureed lentil soup and probably had 4 tbl. I stopped, but I could have had more. For dinner I had roast chicken pureed with a bit of suffing and broth. Then I had some green mixed veg. baby food.(2 tsp) and then 2 tbl. of butternut squash. This is my first day! Could it be that I am so happy to eat real food again, or should I be concerned? What do you think? Linda

Hello! Both my mom and I are going to be sleevers at some point, but we are in the very beginning stages of the process. Since we are both doing this our finances are pretty tight, so we want to start stocking up so to speak on some of the drinks/food/shakes/vitamins/etc that we will need as we approach pre-op and post op etc. I have read through the board to try and make my own list... but it is very confusing! Between powders and shots and shakes and Soups I just don't know where to start! If you could please let me know some of your "staples" that can be kept for a longer period of time that would help tremendously! Thank you

It was at the bottom where things tend to freeze if not moved around a lot. I opened it and there is no smell and I tasted it and it tastes like cottage cheese. So, will it kill me to eat it?

Oh well...guess we live and learn. So much for my high hopes of having a nice lunch date with my husband!!

My pre-op is basically 4 protein drinks a day, and Broth, SF Jello, Popsicles 2 servings of fruit a day. Not much to work with when you still have a full appetite. But 5 pounds down in 2.5 days. Hello all...I am in the process of preparing for my VSG surgery in a couple of months. I wanted to hear form any vegetarians out there as to how they deal with the heavy Protein aspect of the lifestyle change. As a lacto/ovo vegetarian, I remember having to consume 80-100 grams of Proteins a day during my pregnancies. I was drinking Protein drinks every single day until my delivery dates to keep it up. So how did you prepare for your surgery and what was your diet like after?? Thanks in advance.

The nutrional facts are really good too. 1 link is 120 calories with 17 gms of Protein and only 2 carbs. Each link is about 3 oz. I only ate about 2 oz. and had a few green Beans and was too full to finish it. I can't wait to go back to Walmart and buy some of the other flavors. I was never scared of carbs, but I guess since it seems to work for others, maybe I should try it. But then, I just hate the thought of trying to figure out good carbs, bad carbs in my log. I mean, an orange has 20g of carbs, and I don't want to fear those - how do I split that in MFP. Anyway, I found the below really interesting, here is part of the article that I'd like to share. From that, I will really try to stay between 50 and 100g: 300 or more grams/day - Danger Zone! Easy…
