For a couple of years now, I have really liked having the Meijer brand Crystal Quenchers Water. They have different flavors like black cherry, kiwi strawberry, lime, grape, etc. No caffeine, No Sodium, No Calories. The only problem - it's carbonated. Solution: shake the living daylights out of it so it goes flat! And, it's not sweet like crystal light is.

I posted this in the Post Op section but I wanted to put it here too!! The best thing I ever bought was a candle warmer [or you can use a coffee cup warmer]. I got mine from Michael's for $3.99. I even invested in some really cute little plates [$1.49] and a tea cup with the strainer and lid [$4.99]. When I microwave my breakfast/lunch/dinner I turn on my mini hot plate and then put my coffee cup or little plate on it and it stays nice and toasty until I finish eating, which everyone knows takes quite a while when you're first sleeved!! I'm at work right now with my chicken and mixed veggies on a pretty little pink plate and everything is still bubbling hot!!! Just t…

I am a teacher and when I start back to school in the fall I will be only a month out from surgery. I have read on this list how long it takes to eat a small meal. At the most I have 20 minutes to eat lunch and on days I have lunch duty ... I have 10 minutes. Anyone in the same position and have found a way to deal with this? Are there foods that can go down faster than others? What are some ideas of foods I can take for lunch? Khy

I just bought a cup of it and could only eat about 1/4 of it. It was good, I mainly ate the liquidy part and left the chicken, tortillas and whatnot in the bowl. I like that there is an option in case my son wants a bean burrito (he loves them, but he has always been a small eater, can only eat about 3/4 of a party one). Has anyone else tried it?

I've been taking 1/2 of a chewable bariatric Vitamin each day. An entire one makes me sick. So I'm now 2 months out and I decided to try an entire one today and within 5 minutes I was sick. I'm glad I didn't order more. I feel like I wasted a Sunday. So after the worst of it passed I went to the store and looked at Vitamins. I can swallow a pill pretty well so I think I just need to get off of these chewables and onto a regular vitamin. So I picked up a liquid SoftGel Multi for Her by Nature Made. I should have noted that there was no guide on the bottle that showed the ACTUAL pill size. Well, this thing looks like a horse pill. It is literally over 1 inch long …

I woke up at 6 am today and was in a lot of pain, the first thing that went through my mind was a sleeve leak, then perhaps an abdominal aneurysm. It came and went and then returned worse then ever. I decided it was time to head to the ER. The pain seemed to let up as I set there in the waiting room (of course!) and I had the sudden urge to urinate and it felt really weird in my bladder. I went and sat on the toilet rather then stood and felt a lot of stinging when I urinated. I had to really push to get a few squirts out and gave up. I went back to the waiting room and sat a while, Again I had to urinate and went to the restroom again, this time I stood to go and …

I found these at the Dollar General store (of all places). They are like a slim jim, but cut into little tiny bites that come in a little bag. A serving is 7 bites (which is all I can eat anyway). They are 90 calories per serving with 10 grams of protein. It makes a nice snack or something savory when you want a little nibble. Compared to the ones that are beef (or maybe beef/pork) they are 6 more grams of protein and 30 calories less. WOOT!!

Have you seen these Sam's Choice Stuffed Chicken Breasts at Walmart? They come 2 in a pkg and have flavors like 3 cheese and jalepeno, pepperjack and swiss-american cheeses bacon, swiss cheese, crimini & button mushrooms. They are 34-37 grams of protein and 3-4 grams carb for 1 piece. I can make 2 meals out of 1 breast but they are tastey to me while others in my house were indulging in pizza. I did not feel deprived and went down well for me. They weren't dry. Just wanted to share this!

Hi to all, but especially those who have hit goal. I am 13 months out and have hit a plateau for the past 6 months. I would love to hear what others are eating one year on, and exactly how much food you can or are eating. Please let me know what a typical day is like now. Any lessons learned or tips to give. Also say whether you have reached goal or are still losing. Would love to hear from you all. Looking for ideas/suggestions to put me back on tract. Thanks for your help. Bookleen

I was sleeved last wednesday. Been doing crystal light/diet snapple/sugar free pops and sugar free Jello. I have to wait to to Friday of next week to finally get off of it. Meanwhile Im really craving something else. Problem is that in my guidelines from my hospital the only other option is Miso Soup. The only problem is I have a similar kinda like lipton chicken flavored noodle soup. the ones in packets that the noodles are super small. Problem is I don't know if it's safe to take that since nothing but miso soup is listed. ANyone got any advice or pointers?

So I have the pickiest sleeve on the planet. It completely rejected all those nice Protein powders I had carefully sought out, and I was having serious trouble eating enough to get even half the recommended amount of protein. On a whim, I picked up a couple of Protein Bars (I'm almost 7 weeks out now, sleeved 4/18) at the grocery store to try. Most of them, ICK!! But the Think Thin kind, which are gluten free and zero added sugar, are FABULOUS! I had the creamy Peanut Butter and ate half of it over a couple of hours--it really does taste like a Reese's peanut butter cup, same texture and everything. Really tasty, and my sleeve loves peanut butter, so I'm thrilled! …

As I read the forum and see different bits of advice I can't help wondering how on earth many of you can drink and eat some of the stuff that is listed. This isn't a slam, I just really can't figure out how adding torani syrup or crystal light to other stuff that is already mega sweet with artificial sweeteners could make it more palatable. The only way I can tolerate crystal light is by using less than 1/4 of those little packets in my water and even then, I find it sweet and usually can't drink the whole thing. Do you think some people's taste buds are extra sensitive to artificial sweeteners? Don't get me wrong, I love sweet, cotton candy is fabulous and I don't fi…

I'm attempting to start journaling the food I'm eating and calculating Protein, fat, carbs, and calories. Already today I discovered that I believe I will need to get a food scale as a couple of the foods I was trying to look up gave serving sizes in ounces - even though I was counting out pieces (blueberries, grape tomatoes, baby carrots). Does anyone use a scale for measuring their food? If so, which one?

So I made my first ever smoothie today. Used some unflavored Protein powder (and, no, I can't taste it), Fage 2% Greek yogurt (I know why it's a substitute for sour cream), blueberries, milk, ice. I think I needed to use more ice or milk or add some Water to it. Smoothie is good - but really thick - like normal yogurt. However, I really can taste the sourness of the Greek yogurt. I know others have sweetened it with SF syrups. However, before I buy big bottles of this stuff, I was wanting to try them to see if there are any flavors that I won't like. Does anyone know of where I can get samples of the SF syrups? Thanks.

For the past few weeks, the urge to have something sweet has been getting stronger. I figured maybe it was that I wasn't getting all my nutrition in so I upped my protein intake. I've begun to drink more water and I've been working out and strength training fairly good (almost 1.5 hrs every day). So why am I feeling like I want to take a pack of double stuffed oreo's and just jam them into my mouth? It's like I need to have something sweet, and if I don't, I go stir crazy. Is there something I need to switch up perhaps. Or is it all in my head?

You know...there are just some foods it's so hard to slow down eating. It's just so yummy. Like right now, for instance...I have some fresh, home-popped popcorn. It's so fraking yummy! I know I'm supposed to take smaller bites and slow down, but it's just a weird food that it seems not possible! Yes, I know I can, and do sometimes. But...what is it about popcorn that makes it mmm mmm good? Thai food is another...especially if it's spicy. Spicy food is just a little harder to eat slowly. Well, there I go...starting to feel full. Gonna toss out the rest of the popcorn into my compost bucket. Just wanted to share that little random thought over a bowl of popco…

Hello everyone! I'm new to this and have really enjoyed reading everyone's stories the past couple of days. I never thought I would consider this but thanks to all of the great stories on here, I am considering surgery with Dr. Kelly in Mexico. I have read and read and I can't seem to find complaints about him or Trish. Everyone has such pleasant experiences. Is there anything that anyone should tell me that I don't know? I would greatly appreciate any responses, even if they are bad ones. Thank you to everyone! Christy

Someone may have already posted something like this and if so I apologize in advance. I'm just a few days out and still having nausea so trying to find creative ways to get in some protein. I took juice from 2 lemons, a little water, some splenda, ice cubes and unjury unflavored protein powder (1 scoop= 21 grams protein). Blended in blender for a smoothies. It's not earth shattering, it's very tolerable and I managed to get in some protein. ;0)

Does anyone know of a site where you can record your daily diet that's geared toward tiny portions? I'm getting sort of tired of trying to figure out how to enter 1 teaspoon of applesauce. And I'm not sure that if I added it myself I would be anywhere near accurate.

Hi all, I'm on full liquids for another week and a half or so. I was so proud today because I managed to get my Protein levels in. But tonight I am worried because I know I got protein in but I don't think I got enough liquids. Do I just count the Water or Crystal light that I drink? Or can I count the full liquids I am consuming for food, like Protein shakes, puddings and water with Protein powder in it? I do not feel dehydrated today because I had two and a half thin protein puddings today, 1 pint of Lemonade and at least 16 oz of other drinks or water. But I wasn't sure if I can count the protein shakes or water with protein powder? I want to get my protein…

I am having my surgery soon and wondering about long term eating after the surgery. I know that protein must come first for the rest of our lives but do you guys follow an Atkins like ultra low carb diet? I am hoping to be able to have a more balanced diet with no obvious high sugar and less processed foods. But what about soup or 1/2 sandwich at a panera for example when out with friends. What about oatmeal for breakfast even if it is just 1/4 cup with some turkey bacon? Thoughts from those who are living and losing after the sleeve would be appreciated!

I'm 6 months out and 21 pounds from my goal of 130. I've noticed the last month or so it seems I lose more or faster when I eat more carbs. I usually try to eat one heavy carb a day like, rice, potatos, tortilla and the rest of the day low carb.. I eat about 1/3 a cup when I eat. My sleeve is just as small now as the day I got sleeved.. I don't drink sugar and rarely drink drinks with any other sweetner.. Yesterday, DH's birthday... I ate BBQ, potato salad, baked Beans heavy on the bbq sauce and cake without frosting and a smoothie from smoothie king.. No extra exercise... I lost a pound and a half.. I weigh myself twice a day every day and my weight does not flucuate I u…

I just tried the Atkins Day Break Apple Crisp Bar. OMG, that sucker was DELICIOUS!!! It's 130 calories, 10 grams of protein, and 17 total carbs, but 4 net carbs. It is uber yummy. A great little sweet apple cinnamon protein pick me up in between breakfast and lunch! So far K-mart is the only place I've seen this flavor. Plus there were coupons for Atkins protein bars in last Sunday's Baltimore Sun. $1.50 off any 2 boxes!

6 days post-op, 90+degrees here in KC and was dying for a drink other than Water. So, I went to Sonic and ordered myself a special treat - Medium Diet Cherry Flavored Limeade (w/lime juice and cherries) MADE WITH WATER (not pop) and it is soooooo yummy - gotta love the ice too! Here are the totals: Calories = 14 Carbs = 3 Sugar = 1 Sodium = 6 I just went to their online site and you can configure your drink however and it automatically pops up your totals. PS Make sure you say DIET cherry because the regular cherry flavoring has way too many carbs/sugars.

I am really, really struggling to get the protein in. The only thing i like to eat at the moment is soup. I have tried adding the unflavoured protein to the soups but the unflavoured part on the tub was a lie! Yesterday i had a protein shot which caused dumping, so they are a no go for me. What would happen if i only hit 40g protein a day until? I can just about manage half a shake and half a bottle of isopure. Your thoughts, as always are appreciated!

Y'all, I'm so excited. My husband loves Chinese food, and I love hot and sour Soup. However, as many of you know from reading my whiny rants on other threads, I have had a really hard time keeping food down--even things like soft-scrambled eggs. So yesterday, we were near his favorite Chinese place, and we decided to eat dinner there; this was scary for me, since there's a VERY short list of things I seem to be able to tolerate, and I really didn't want to get sick in yet another restaurant bathroom (sorry if TMI). So I decided to just have the broth from a cup of soup and go from there. It was yummy, and I ate my couple of bites, tried some of the tofu in the soup …

I will be traveling to England in a few weeks, and I'm concerned about finding food that I can eat when I'm not in a position to prepare it myself. Any suggestions as to eating places to go, items that work well when toted in a purse, and so on? I'm six months out, with no menu restrictions, but I'm worried about getting in all the Protein I need (plus, I need to stay away from current buns, which I dearly love...). I know that I can eat the wonderful cheese, but three weeks of that seems a bit much. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have a question..... After surgery, when you can start drinking milk, does it matter the type? Other than calories, is there a reason not to drink Whole milk? I ask cause we usually milk our cow and drink the milk. I pull off the cream to make butter though so it isn't full strength. I plan to ask at my nutrition class but that isn't until June! Thanks! Confession time ... Two weeks ago, I started choosing some no-so-good foods to eat while I was PMSing ... carried over to the week of ... and this week too. Normally, I don't say any foods are "off limits", but I keep choices small and few between. But, the last couple of weeks were crazy. YIKES!!!!! So, the scale showed 130.2 this morning. 2.2 over my "top bounce point". I needed this wake-up call to make sure I stay on track. Back to basics starting now!!!!!! Anyone want to be my accountability buddy while I get things back in control?
