The purpose of this thread is to capture your daily workouts to share with others over time. It is not meant to be a challenge thread;rather, it will become a valuable resource to others over time to find workouts that will work for them based on many different dimensions of compatibility (gee, sounds like e harmony. Lol). I hope the thread lives for a long time. In order for others to gauge what is possible and how it might apply to the, please include the following information: Starting weight: your initial weight, before surgery. Current Weight: your current weight Height: your height WLS status: how far out are you? Are you in loss phase or maintenance phas…

I hiked in a cave today. For an hour. And then I swam in it. And then I walked 2 miles wearing a wetsuit and the heaviest life jacket ever. And then I walked another mile. YESSSS!!! This was not any old flat cave. This was a very uneven cave floor in a very dark cave, with some of it under Water and the rest above and I hiked through it for an hour. I haven't shared this before but two years ago, I ended up in a wheelchair due to a very incompetent doctor. I was in it and bed-ridden for three months and it took me 3 months to learn how to walk again, by which time I had significant damage to the cartilage in my knees. For all of last year, I wasn't able to do stairs…

  6. Yes I know puking is bad.. I started this new high intensity training class at the gym. I got severe abdominal cramps and then i threw up slightly and some other issues as I am a lady Ill spare the details. The trainer does not know i am banded and I usually don't eat before working out cause my system doesn't like early morning meals. usually my vitamins and coffee pre workout and then protein post workout. Im not worried I hurt my band as it was minimal and I don't vomit often. I handled my bathroomish business a missed one loop of the training and then continued to do class . He said I must eat a little something prior to this class as my body needs fuel. One trainer s…

Feel a little silly asking, but I have been trying to coordinate these for a few weeks and still hitting rope. Anyone have some good hints that work for them? These are essentially regular jump ropes, but the rope passes under you 2x per jump. I can do singles forever, like 300 in a row, fast, but my hand / jump coordination for doubles are needing help...

Anybody out there that can make me some recommendations to get rid of my stomach and inner thighs some? I know eventually I'm going to get plastics but if I can make it less, that would be great! I'm down 90 pounds , from 250 to 160 and 10 pounds from goal. (Sleeved 07/2012) Currently in a size 6, but so tired of wearing these spanx like things to keep me looking somewhat normal! Help!! ????

I have always had a very large spare tire. I lost down to 170 lbs once and still had it. At that time the only exercising I was doing was bike riding, most of the weight loss was from dieting. I recently started focusing on losing weight again and following the band rules. I also joined a gym and have been using the ellyptical for 30 min 3-4 times a week. I feel like I get more out of the elliptical then the treadmill but don't really know what else to do. I am about 270lbs now and am too ashamed to ask one of the tiny female trainers or huge muscle male trainers for tips. This is a cheap but very close and conveinent gym to home. It has every machine you could im…

Hello All! Help me please!!! I was sleeved on 8/6, I am doing well but having issues getting my Protein and Water in. My bigger issue which I know is related to the food is lack of exercise due to lack of energy. I go, go, go all day and evening. From work, to kids, to selling my house I am never sitting still but I have still not made time for planned exercise. Its turning cold here in Iowa and its dark early and my motivation is at a stand still....so is my weight, I have lost about 34 pounds, but its all coming off very slowly. I would like to know what others did to start exercising. What activities, how often and how long. Any other advice is appreciated as well. …

My goal calories are 800 per day, per my surgeon/dietician. Of course, when I exercise (which I do each day) my calorie intake for that day is offset by the calories I burned; the result is that nearly every day, and I still have calories to consume at the end of the day! So, am I aiming for 800 calories NO MATTER WHAT EXERCISE I DO, or 800 calories NET after the exercise is calculated in? I'm hitting around 90 grams of Protein every day for the last three days, and I'm hitting 32% carbs, 32% fat and 36% protein for this, my first week. I've only met my NET calorie goal of 800 once -- after my exercise is figured in, my total calories taken in for the day is less th…

I am so torn about which fitness tracker to get! There are so many conflicting reviews. I keep finding myself drawn to the Fitbit Flex but how much longer do we have to wait for this thing to be released. I want something now and their website just says it will be released "Spring 2013." Does anybody have any insight? I already have some sagging skin and I want to try and tone those areas now so to hopefully eliminate too much sag! I have been working out consistently since surgery I am up to 6 days a week at least 30 mins a day all cardio and wanted to add a bit of variety an get strength and flexibility workouts in too!! 23. I'm so excited. Doc says I can do any exercise now. I don't want to do anything too strenuous in the beginning. I want to gradually build myself up. Any suggestions for some good workouts that incorporate cardio and weights but isn't to hard? I figure I would start off with 30 min a day and build up to an hour.

I am looking for a power lifting shoe for men to help primarily with power lifts in the context of cross fit training. There are so many choices on Amazon and my strategy right now is to research a brand that has the highest set of good review and best performance for a budget under 200. It would be nice if it is designed for cross fit, but does not need to be. Nor does it need to support running. I have a reebok nano 3 and Nike Pegasus for those two activities, respectively. The reason I need a dedicated shoe for lifting is I need the stability when lifting heavy. I get a little wobbly on my feet and the weight needs to be distributed much better in my heels. Before…

  29. I like the man makers because there are so many different weight exercises built into a single rep. Try doing the following: 30 Man-Makers (Choose Weight) Man-Maker = DBs to the ground, kick back, push-up, row left, row right, jump feet in, power clean, push press As you can see, a single rep has rows, a bench press a power clean and a push press. It even has a burpee jump in it to the feet.I do these with 25 # and am thoroughly toasted afterwards. For me, the push presses get weak first with my shoulders unable to lift vertical by rep 20 or so. Here is a video: You only need your body and a pair of dumbbells to get a full body workout with these.

I am long time banded but really just started getting back on the bandwagon recently. I lost about 30 pounds with getting new fills this year so I decided to start an exercise program. I was overly ambitious and thought I would try P90X. It's ok, you can laugh. Let's just say me doing a pull up. HA! Found out they have a more basic version called Power 90. I just started it this week. Has anyone else given it a try. It's been a while since i have been to the gym and after 2 days I can tell a difference.

I hope this isn't a repeat from any previous posts but I'm wondering if anyone has found any decent work out gear that would help out with excess skin or just hanging parts? Or to be blunt would help avoid some of the flopping around! I feel like it makes my work outs a lot more uncomfortable wearing super loose clothes but before I spend the money to buy something different I figured I would ask. I just started the beachbody T25 exercise program and there is a lot of jumping involved. Thanks for any advice!!! Maggie

  37. Okay so I'm gonna do the 30 day squat and plank challenges. The plank challenge I am pretty sure that I can accomplish but this squat challenge is giving me palpitations a little! By the end of the month you are doing 250 squats. Are these designed to be done all at once or can they be broken up into sets of like 50 throughout the day? I just want to make sure I'm going to do it right. If I'm going to do it I want it to be like it is designed so I get the best results possible!!

I bought a spinning bike and i have some workout DVDs (Julian Michaels ripped in 30, kickboxing etc). The DVDs provide some strength training, but i want to beef that up. Over the summer, I did alot of outdoors stuff too... hiking, horse stuff etc. Come January, I have a large room becoming available in my home that i am going to convert to a home gym combined with my home office. I'm hoping there are some suggestions out there - I'm almost 6 weeks post op and have started at the gym. I'm an early riser so will be going in the mornings before work. This morning, I drank my protein shake on the way there (I have to have something when I get up) and found I was a little wobbly after. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's a good thing to have after? Not supposed to have any energy bars or granola bars or anything like that and I don't think another protein shake is the way to go.

I have been working with a trainer four days a week for the past month and have really begun to see changes in my strength and endurance, and today, for the first time since I was 18, I ran 1/4 of a mile! I know that might not be a lot to some, but it was amazing to me. I have been doing sprints for the past few weeks, but today I really pushed myself and I was amazed that I could run that far. Not only did I run, I then did 15 minutes worth of free weights, 1000 crunches (yes, three zeros after that 1) and ended with 15 minutes on the stair master. Today was the hardest workout I have had in my life, and it was amazing! I still have a LONG way to go to get to my goal o…

Has anyone had a hard time getting their heart rate up when exercising. Before surgery I always checked it when I worked out. Always maxing out around 160 when I walked on the treadmill at 4.0. Now I run intervals at 6.0 then walk at 4.5 and can't get it past 137 this is for an hour. I even did sprints at 7.0 and nothing. My question is since I've been stalled out so much and don't get in that many calories have I slowed my metabolism down. I finally made an appt. to see my surgeon and NUT. I didn't go it to my 1 year follow up because I felt like a failure. I just wanted to hear from you guys.

I know it's been discouraged to lift weights at this point, but I thought I'd start with about 30-40 min treadmill walk. Just wondering if anybody does HIIT on the treadmill? I did my first 10 minute round of intervals plus 10 min warm up and cool down and it was crazy...my heart rate was soaring and i could barely stay on the treadmill. I was running at 7.0 for 30 seconds and then it took roughly two minutes of slow walking to get my heart rate down far enough before running another 30 seconds.. My legs burned!! I thought i wasnt going to make it through a 6 cycle interval session but i did- barely!! Thank God for a break day tommorow!
