I have two more weeks left before I can go swimming. I hope the weather holds up for me. I can only do my walks right now. I feel great after words though. I need to get rid of this loose skin.

Although the scale has remained the same for a weeks.... This is a message I sent to all 400+ of my FB 'friends' but thought it would an even better post here. . For those of you who have noticed, I have been more active lately. I never wanted to pick up running because I didn't want to be slow or last and that fear has always held me back. Well I just ran a 5k and my oldest biggest fear was just about to happen. I was almost last, but instead of walking, giving up or beating myself up I just kept going!! And you know what the pit in my stomach went away and I finished with me head held high!! Life is all about challenges. We are only judged on how we react to them. Tha…

I found this article today on the subject of being skinny fat by accident. It was so informative that I want to share it with you: http://www.functionalfitmag.com/blog/2012/01/31/top-10-ways-skinny-fat/ Let me know your thoughts on it. Quite a number of the items are common, but some you would not suspect as being causes of the skinny fat syndrome. I had issues with too much cardio and no lifting when initially reaching goal at 7 months post op. I was skinny fat. Not so much anymore, but there are still areas for improvement around my belly button.

I recently finished the insanity workout program. Although I could FEEL my cloths fitting better I was having a hard time SEEING the progress in the mirror. The workouts are tough and I love it. I plan on repeating the whole program. Here are my results... Proof that exercise can help reshape your body as you are losing as well.

8 weeks out and have only walked. I'm joining a gym next week and really don't know where to start. The gym charges a lot for a personal trainer, about $110/ session so I am trying to avoid that. I'm 51lbs down, with about 100lbs to go until my personal goal. I want to know the fastest way to burn fat, while avoiding loose skin. I've had 2 csections, so I know my tummy will be a problem area. Any suggestions or routines for beginners?? Thank you!

Here is something that has really helped me out starting this last week. It is the real deal and has helped me eliminate fat from those stubborn locations. For me, this is in the tummy area. Another VST member gave me the tip on the sweet sweat. Sweet sweat: creates a little mini sauna where ever you apply it. It looks and feels a lot like Vaseline, but has a sweet aroma. There are antioxydants in this product that help draw the toxins out of the stored fat. Amazing product. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EN14CA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1376259663&sr=8-1π=SL75 McDavid wrap: a cloth wrap the really holds in your core section. With the application of sweet sweat und…

I am trying to get into distance running. I have really enjoyed the handful of 5ks that I have done and would like to do my first 10K in November with a friend. I am currently 9 months post surgery (gastic sleeve) and have lost 110 lbs! I have been working on running since I was cleared for regular exercise by my doctor but I have had the hardest time building my distance. At this time I am only about to accomplish 1.5 miles straight before I feel like I am completely out of engery and am going to give out. The rest of the work out I really have to push myself to accomplish 3 miles. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on attaining better energy and great distances?…

I want to be able to ride the same number of miles as my age next year 10/28/2014, when I turn 55. I've never tried to do anything like this before and would appreciate any advice about how to train and build my endurance and speed, especially during the winter when I can't ride outdoors. I can currently ride about 14 miles on a trail that is pretty easy, minimal hills, but I'm slow. It takes me about 1 & 3/4 hours. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

Today is day 2. My leg muscles are really sore. Hurts to sit down but I know it's ok since I've probably haven't worked those muscles in 8 years. My goal isn't exactly to run a 5k but the fact that I haven't been working out this program gives me a reason to. And I'm glad I started. After I finished day 1 yesterday I felt so good about myself. Hopefully I'll be able to run a 5k in the future.

if i have one a lot of exercise or even just walked a lot, i am sometimes very sore at bedtime or the middle of the night. i used to just take a few ibuprofen. i know that is out now. what is good? i dont usually use tylenol, i have a sensitive liver. last night i couldnt fall asleep and ended up taking a pain pill left fom surgery. is there something i can do to prevent it? i hope the less i weigh, the less it will happen, but i am prone to shin splints not matter how much i weigh.

Hello all, I am in the market for a wireless set of headphones. I have been doing some research on a couple of brands like jaybird, jabra, and motorola. The reviews are always so mixed. I am looking for some input because I keep whacking my chord while I am on the treadmill running for example and down goes my phone and I have to stop. I even lost one of my ear bud pieces the other day because my phone fell and it went flying. Ugh! I was so annoyed because I couldn't find it and had to work out without my music. I work out 100% better with some kind of rhythm motivating me to move. Anyone have a set they really like? I am looking for a bluetooth set that has e…

Can I just say that I LOVE this program!! My weight was at a stand still for about 1-2 months, or so it felt, and since I have started C25K the weight seems to just be falling off!! I just started week 4 yesterday and am down 7lbs. That may not seem like a lot in 4 weeks, but this is the only change that I have made and honestly it wasn't until this week that it really got challenging. So for anyone who needs a little boost in their weight loss I highly recommend this! Let me just say for the record I am NOT a runner! Never have been. I LOVE playing softball, LOVE it, but learned early the harder I hit the ball the slower I could run. Plus you get to run a few feet and …

Hi everyone, So I was told not to lift anything greater than 15 lbs for 4 weeks but was never given a time period as to when I could return to the gym, I was just told to take it easy. It's been almost 4 weeks since my surgery date and I have noticed the weight loss start to slow down. When did you guys return to the gym? I'm ready to kick-start the weight loss again!

Hi all Tiffany here. Im curious as to what abdominal exercises lapbanders have been doing to tone up their mid sections. I was told that sit ups were not a good thing for me to do,because of my port placement. I am really ready to get my mid section "in check", im really thinking yoga would do the trick. Anyone else have any feed back on this subject?

I have hired a personal trainer to help me with my exercise. I know we are suppose to increase our calorie intake when we work out but I don't know by how much? Or what to say to increase it I'm 9wks post op and eat about 500-700 calories a day . I'm estimating to work out about 1 to 1.5 hrs a day burning about 300-700 calories will my body be able to handle it ? Please help me

I am a Zumba fanatic going to classes five days a week at my local gym. My Zumba instructor prides herself on being about as hard core as they come there is no mercy in her class. My question is how long after surgery can I return to such vigorous physical activity without risking any issues?? Thanks in advance for any responses :-)

Does anyone know of a technique to relieve long term stiffness in the neck? Is it it just a matter of fixing my standing posture and chair ergonomics? Do I need to work more on strengthening my upper back muscles and mindfully relaxing the back tightness (getting better at this)? I also lift, but that is fairly new and neck muscle soreness has existed forever. I would like to fix it permanently and not just temporarily with neck exercises, hot/cold, massages, pain medicine, etc. thanks!

Just recently I just started becoming more interested with my weight/strength training of course added with my 45-60 min Interval cardio regimen. I did some research and eventually came up with this for myself. My own personal goal is to NOT become big and bulky but more toned with more muscle. I do understand that some women are afraid of getting bulky, but understand our bodies and chemistry is made completely different from a man, so with that being said, we can train without getting the bulk that you think you would get. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF WEIGHTS. Muscle and fat are not created equal, 5lb of muscle is NOT the same as 5lb of fat. Muscle does not take up the same spac…

I have lost almost 50 lbs since march 15th, my banding date, and I swim 4 or 5 times a week. I have been working my butt off and not losing what I thought I would. Is there anything else I can do that I haven't been doing? I have worked up to swimming a mile twice a week and going to aqua fitness classes and swimming after twice a week. Thanks ahead of time for any advice

I know I have to wait until at least next week to get back to the gym, but I've been going for a 30 minute walk for the last three days. I worked really hard pre-op for about 3 months to get used to go to the gym and seeing the results of working hard in the gym. I'm so excited to get going in the gym post-op, because I know it will really rev up my weight loss. I'm so fidgety and ready to start my new life!!!!!!!

I go in Tuesday for surgery and always have been very active for my weight which surprises my surgeon and my pcp and I am a quick healer as well. I am registered for a hip hop class this year at my daughters dance school (finally brave enough) and I am hearing roughly 2-3 weeks before cardio which is all the dance class really is. Anyway class starts Wednesday I know their is no way the day after surgery I well be up for dancing and so does the teacher. I told her two to three weeks after surgery and she's okay with that. I am going to ask the surgeon at the hospital q&a the morning of surgery but want to get a feel from other patients. When did you start your cardio?

So I am down 75lbs!!! I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I walk on the treadmill and do different types of circuit training. I can tell that my skin is starting to sag some and I need to know what types of workouts I need to do to tighten my stomach, arms and legs up. I know that I am going to have sagging skin I just want to get everything as tight as I can. *I would ask someone at the gym but there is no one there at the time that I go.

Anyone diagnosed with PTTD? I think it really sucks! I guess it's caused by a weak tendon in your ankle and then its all down hill from there. Just wondering if anyone else is coping or maybe has success over this? It's so frustrating that I have lost all this weight and I still have physical limitations.

Hello Active Sleevers! I just recently really stepped up my workouts by joining Crossfit. I was never an athlete, so it's a whole new world. I am getting a great workout, but I am also getting my butt kicked. I have such sore legs after leg day, it's ridiculous. I know it is temporary, I'll work past it, but I am looking for your insider athletic secret tricks for recovery. Anything you do to sooth the aches and maybe even prevent them??

Hello everyone I fractured my back in two places t12 and L1. I cannot do any excises for 8 weeks so I am worried about no weightloss during this time. Has anyone hurt there back and hit the gym after? If so what exercise did you do to make your back stronger. My primary care doc said I've lost bone mass due to my sleeve because I don't get enough nutrients in my everyday diet. Has anyone heard of this bone loss issue?

I started my LB journey because of the pain my body was going through, just trying to keep up with basic daily activities. Since being banded I have done very little exercising, due to said pain. The years of carrying around 100+ extra pounds has left me with bone on bone knee joints. Yes, taking off 100 lbs has help, but the damage was done. My weight also was beginning to stall b/c of my slow metabolism, I needed to start exercising. 10 days ago, I had a Lt total knee replacement ( Rt is scheduled for Sept 11) and I am so excited by just what I can now do with my physical therapist. 4hrs after surgery they expected me to just stand up and then sit in a chair. I was…
