Help please? I have been stalling for weeks on end. Eventually I lose a few pounds. Can you give any advise? I have a lot to lose still. I try not to get discouraged because the inches are falling off but when that scale doesn't move it is rough. I am trying to add more Protein drinks to my diet. I have trouble eating everything. I am just not hungry! When I do get hungry my little tummy starts hurting. Then I am afraid to eat. Took on a second job for the time being and I don't have much time for exercise. I am trying to walk twice a day on my breaks at work. Our temperatures dropped last few weeks so I tried to walk the stairs at work. Made it up 8 flights! Never ever …

Ok bypass veterans, are there any things that you didn't find out until just before or after your surgery? One example is, I just found out that I will have to give myself a blood thinner injection for 7 days after surgery. Didn't know a thing about that until I met with the nurse coordinator this week. Not looking forward to that.

So excited we leave tomorrow morning for Oahu! My hubby and I are going for our 24th anniversary and packing my suitcase I was giddy with excitement! I tried on all my "dream" dresses (I bought 10 dresses a year ago hoping one day I could wear them. All a size 8) and I am going to toot my own horn here but I look fantastic lmao! My hubby is gonna freak when he sees me in them. I am 12 pounds from goal. Hoping I lose an inch to fit in my "dream" New Year's Eve dress I bought lol. I am so happy I revised from band to bypass! (I was successful with the band-lost 120 but was about 20 pounds heavier than I am now and could never get below that- it eroded so revised to b…

Hello. I'm Lauren. A little about myself ... If struggled with my weight my entire life, but it never really became a serious problem till the end of high school. I graduated weighing 230. At the time this was the highest I had ever weighed, depressed and hating myself I began trying diet after diet. Losing the weight, but always gaining it back plus an additional 10 lbs. I currently weigh 285 but my highest is 303 which was my weight this time last year. I was able to get myself down to 260 through diet and exercise, and am back climbing the weight ladder yet again. I'm 5'9 so my BMI is in the 42 range. I've recently began doing a lot of research on WLS. I'm switching…

I'm 13 months post op but still have mind games with food. Sounds so stupid but I said no to pizza and waited until I got home to eat a left over thanksgiving turkey wrap (on low carb tortilla) It was delicious and full of protein. Love that I can beat that mind game! It is hard though. Just thought I share my goofiness...♡♡

Yes, you read that correctly! I had a TT about 10 years ago after one of my "I am not every going to gain weight back again". Well her I am....larger than ever. When I told my surgeon he stated that if he can't do the RNY, he may have to do the sleeve.... It might bee to tight in there???? My questions: Has anyone on here had a TT before RNY? If so, Did they do it lapo? Did your muscles cramp a lot during recovery? Any complications?

I may have missed something important in my research for having my GBS. I see in one of the forums that quote, " Most bypass patients wear medical bracelets after surgery. " it was said because of the possibility of a doctor or paramedic running something down your throat and perforating the pouch. I never though of this and therefore I don't have a medical bracelet. My question is do I as a bypass patient need to wear a bracelet and do others? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I have Kaiser with a 6mo program to get to surgery. I'm A-ok with that and actually looking forward to the process. However, it will require either schedule changes or time off 2-3 times per month. In general, I'm not sharing about the surgery. Obviously, my husband knows, as do some close friends...definitely only about 5-7 people IRL. I don't want to lie to my employer....but I also don't think my medical procedure is any of their business. Thoughts?

After that, it will be submitted to insurance for approval. Keeping fingers crossed it all goes as planned. Can't believe i actually made that first step. Would love to hear other stories in our age group.

I'm doing fine in every area but one... I'm constipated to the point I can go a week without moving my bowels... I know it's the Iron supplements making me constipated. So, what is a person suppose to do? I have to have my iron to stay healthy and I have to be able to move my bowels to also stay healthy. I take 3 OTC colace (maximum OTC dosage) every day in hopes of being able to "go". I wonder if i can possibly take more than 3. I've tried Miralax too. I constantly sip on my Water all throughout the day. I drink about 50-60 ounces a day.... some days more. I'm absolutely frustrated and i have contacted my surgeon's office and to be honest as good as they were before the …

Hi there, I got my last problem figured out - intestinal blockage! Now that everything is back to normal there, I'd like to ask for advice about fatigue. I'm 5 months out and have some pretty extreme fatigue. If I don't take my stay awake medicine (150 mg nuvigil) and have coffee in the afternoon I simply can't keep my eyes open/start seeing double. I often go home and fall asleep right after dinner. I recently had some bloodwork done and am not deficient in any Vitamins, no thyroid problems. I also have a number of dizzy episodes every day, mostly when I get up too fast. Could this be because I take a beta blocker to prevent migraines? Maybe my dose needs to …

I saw my NUT and psych yesterday and began my 2+ weeks pre-op diet. During psych visit t He asked me what my weight loss goal was which is 90lbs. I am 5'7 currently at 240 and would like to be about 150. He suggested that his expected weight loss given my stats would only be between 55-65 lbs bringing me down to between 180-190. I am having RNY. I know everyone has a different loss rate/pattern but wondering if anyone in the 5'7 height range can share their weight loss experiences. I want to keep my expectations realistic but I also want to achieve the best goals I can.

Kind of weird and gross, but here goes I'm having surgery 1/19. I currently carry most of my extra weight in my belly. It hangs over and it just gross. I understand that I will never, ever have a flat belly unless I have skin removal surgery. My question is, is there a way to minimize the floppy skin? Wear a cincher? Douse myself in lotions? My doctor said I am still young enough (40) that my skin will likely bounce back in my face and arms... She said to moisturize. Ok, I can handle that and I also know that as I lose weight I will actually fit into undergarments that will help me look thinner under my clothes (spanx etc) just really worried that my floppy belly sk…

I am a 41 year old wife and mother and I am currently scheduled to have the sleeve done on 12/19/14. I am concerned that I should go ahead and do the bypass due to the amount of weight I need to lose (120+) and the comorbidities I am currently battling. I have diabetes (type 2), HBP, cholesterol issues and sleep apnea. I have a call in to my doctor to see what he recommends, but I wanted to also ask my peers. If it were you, what would you do?

I'm so thrilled! Today I was able to work out for a full hour! I walked on my treadmill at 4.0, and did two easy miles in 34 minutes. I lifted light weights after the fast walk! After that I got on my bike and took my dog on a run! Losing 45 pounds has a made a huge difference in my energy and ability to exercise.

I need help! Can you please share with me why you chose bypass over being sleeved? My medical team is telling me I would benefit more from the bypass because it would get rid of my diabetes whereas there's less of a chance of that happening with the sleeve. They tell me I'd also lose more weight. Thank you

I had the bypass this past August 27th... I'm still puking (sry for being grafic) and can barely eat 2 bites without feeling so full I wanna vomit or I do vomit. If I don't most foods sit like a rock and hurt so bad... and I've only lost 50 lbs...yes I know that's a lot but my doctors told me it would be 10 lbs a week for the first 2-3 months so I'm discouraged that I'm not where I could be... anyone else having this issue or have any tips?

Obesity puts one at risk for diabetes, debilitating arthritis and other chronic ills. And according to a new study published in The Lancet Oncology, excess body weight is associated with about 3.6 percent of cancers worldwide – about 481,000 new cancer cases each year. I had my RNY in April, and things are going well. I feel fine, I had a smooth surgery and an easy healing. I was able to tolerate ANY kind of food from the get go, no problems whatsoever, no dumping, no nausea, no throwing up. So it's been over 6 months since my surgery and in the past few weeks every time I eat something that has sugar in it I get rapid heartbeat for about 15-20 minutes, and it starts about 10 minutes after I finished my meal. This is brand new to me and I am shocked. I also get very tired after my meals (if my meal contains sugar). Even if I eat a yoghurt I have these sympthomes or if I eat boiled potato??? Is this dumping??? Is it possible to get/st…

Hi everyone! I'm 7 weeks post gastric bypass and for the past couple of weeks the weight has remained the same. I'm exercising, having the Protein supplements and trying to eat most of what was asked of me. Now I started to feel hungry again - but not much - so I no longer need to set alarm reminders to eat. I've read other posts saying that those weight loss plateaus are expected however I seem to be doing things that other people were not doing... In summary, I am panicking a bit thinking that this will not work for me and that I am always going to be overweight. I've dropped 17kg (37 pounds) so far. Please let me know if you've been through this as well. Any sugge…

It's been 2 weeks since my gf has had her bypass surgery & she has bruised her hands somehow. I'm convinced it can be from her lack of water intake because she's always sore & she drinks but I don't think it's enough. I had the sleeve so I try helping her out but she's set out on her own with saying she thinks she's doing well. So to you I ask, is it possible to get bruises on your body when you are not getting enough fluids? She probably drinks 20 oz a day cuz she says she's full. He'll I know 20 oz of water isn't enough but maybe she'll listen to you when she sees the responses... Thanks.

I had my surgery on July 14, 2014, and have lost 61 lbs since then. I haven't lost a lb in the past 3 weeks! I'm not complaining, but.....i'm starting to feel like I did before I had the surgery. Starting to feel hungry more and more. Does the pouch stretch back that quickly? And another thing that kinda scares me is that I do not get sick from eating anything....even chocolate! Is that normal?!?!? I'm just starting to worry that this was all for not and I do NOT want to go back to where I was!!! With the time change and the weather, I haven't gotten to do much walking in the past few weeks. Not sure if that would make a major impact on hunger pains and not losi…

I just had an awesome and VERY promising interview for a promotion...same employer...different division. My surgery date is 1/15/2015. When the person giving the interview asked at the end of the interview if there was anything I wanted to tell them, I thought, gulp! should I have mentioned that I have an elective procedure scheduled for January and would need 2 weeks off (all I was planning to take at my current job).???. Should I wait till the offer is made to disclose? Or should I request the FMLA once in the position or should I say I already have a vacation planned at the offer? I've always thought requesting FMLA is best policy but I don't won't to have that chi…
