Wearing a medical bracelet after bypass surgery

I may have missed something important in my research for having my GBS. I see in one of the forums that quote, " Most bypass patients wear medical bracelets after surgery. " it was said because of the possibility of a doctor or paramedic running something down your throat and perforating the pouch. I never though of this and therefore I don't have a medical bracelet. My question is do I as a bypass patient need to wear a bracelet and do others? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Wow. Never thought of that. Makes sense.

I have never thought of that but it makes sense.

Thanks for raising this question - I did some research http://www.mygastricbypassstory.com/2012/03/29/gastric-bypass-medical-alert-id-bracelets/

and decided that the alert was a good idea.

I ordered mind from: https://www.roadid.com/

I put the following:

Gastric ByPass 9/14

No Blind NG Tube/ NSAID

No Sugars

I wear one that says:

Gastric Bypass on the front

Hypoglycemia on the front

On the back is a list of meds and emergency contact and phone number.

I ordered mine thru CVS Pharmacy.

My doctor recommended that I wear one for the same reasons, so emergency personnel would be aware that I am a bariatric patient. My simply states name, allergies I have if any, emergency contact name and phone # And

states I am a bariatric patient. You never know when you are in a situation that you cannot converse with someone about your health info. This takes away the worry

I got mine well before surgery. I never take it off

WOW, what a great idea!

Have you seen any that have a computer chip or something that can easily hold dynamic information such as meds, cataract replacement lenses, etc.?

I haven't but I need to cuz after I had all my complications I found out I'm allergic now to morphine

Do a search for medical bracelets on the web. There's devices that can hold all your medical history.

Those are perfect

What a great idea. I am looking forward to taking off my diabetic bracelet !

I bought my medical bracelet from www.laurenshope.com. It is beautiful and I get compliments on it. Mine says:

Name

No blind NG tube

Severe NSAID allergy

ICE (emergency phone number)

I wear it every day.
