Hello my name is Michelle and I had the band Sept 2006. I am awaiting approval for my band to be converted to GB, I was submitted to insurance on Nov 20th so it should not be too much longer. For the first time today I had that what if feeling, what if I don't get approved. I have great insurance and they tell me it will be ok, but what if. Can anyone tell me how much different then their band it feels? I have lots of restriction already, but my problem is everything gets hovering in my band and my stomach is empty still so I'm sometimes hungry but cant eat. My dietician says she says eating will feel so much better after for me. But what if I don't have the restri…

5 weeks post surgery By Pass. I wake in the morning feeling great...as the day goes on, I feel more and more as though I have morning sickness ( impossible to be pregnant so don't go there). Nothing sounds good to eat and nothing sounds good to even drink. Never hungry and never thirsty. Does this even get better? Will I get back to actually feeling hungry. Believe me, I have the portion down. Never eat more than 1/2 a cup of anything. By nighttime, I am pretty much horizontal. Need some hope peeps...

I am a couple days shy of 4 months & around the week of Christmas I noticed that I was starting to feel hungry. Like go drink some more Water & feeling wasn't gone. I am at a little stall this week only down .6 of a pound but I am sure I have gained muscle because clothes are fitting looser then weeks prior. I am sticking well within my calorie allowance & eating acceptable foods for my program. Ie no intentional eating of carbs allowed until the start month 7 obviously some foods like yogurt innately contain carbs but you all get what I mean. I am also getting exercise in daily so just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? Happy New Year to ever…

It was 17 weeks ago that I underwent a RNY because I ate too much and gained an astronomical amount of weight. The surgery went well. No problems. I've been losing on an average 3-5 lbs per week. I had to learn the hard way how to keep from getting sick: 1) dont eat too fast, 2) dont eat too much, 3) dont drink 30 minutes before and after meals. After the RNY, my tastebuds changed. I lost my love for fried foods and in particular, fried chicken. Before surgery, I could eat that every day. Now just thinking about it makes me a little nauseous. I've gotten use to eat baked foods now. In fact, eating in general has turned into something I have to do everyday. I don…

Hello I need some help, and support: I am almost 5 years out from having gastric bypass surgery. It has changed my life. I lost about 100lbs. Last year was a real struggle for me. I am slowly starting to pick the weight up. I constantly snack and it's junk. Snaking is my biggest issue because I still cannot eat a full meal. But I snack myself sick. I was doing really well for a few months with meal prep and working out, and I got a new position at work and got off track. I don't want this weight to creep up on me. I need help. I really need some pointers on how to jump start. Please help! Thank you

I was googling to see where exactly the incisions are for RNY-laparoscopic. Two things 1)googling such a thing isn't for the faint of heart, I saw some actual surgery pictures I wish I hadn't ???? 2) I see where the actual incisions are made and I am pleased because for some reason I thought they were much lower, towards the pelvic region. I have an odd/kind of gross question though, figure here's as good of a place to ask! The lowest incisions (towards your pelvic region) do they go straight through all of the belly fat? Or do they lift/prop/tape up the belly and incise under the fold? When I had my last baby they had to tape up my belly for the surgery. *MORTI…

Well it has been quite a few years since I have been here, but I think the time is right. I was banded in 2008 and got down to 100kgs. Stayed there for about 6 months then just slowly started creeping up again. I would go in for a fill, go back about 6 weeks later, and no difference or an increase in weight. So late last year (2012) I had a hernia that my surgeon had to repair and I said to him this band isn't working. I had also just been diagnosed with Hashimotos disease (thyroid) so he said to me, get your thyroid under control and we can either do a sleeve or a bypass. Due to being unable to take a lot of time off work for recovery, I chose to have the byp…

Hello! I'm scheduled to having a revision from sleeve to gastric bypass on February 27,2015. I'm having mixed emotions about all this. The reason I need a revision is because I didn't lose enough weight with my sleeve. I ended up losing 50pds. Which is good!! But not enough I have 70-80 more pds to go. I've tried EVERYTHING!! Intense exercise I eat what I'm suppose to but I'm allergic to fruits vegetables and all kind of nuts!! So that doesn't help much. If I eat vegetables cooked I'll be alright but if they're raw.. Forget it it'll get ugly!! What I want to know is how the people that have gotten the gastric bypass or about to get it feel about it. Did you also have …

Other than being a slow loser, I average 2 # a week. I seem to have no issues eating anything. Now I don't eat too much but at Christmas I ate fudge once a day for 3 days. No problem. Yesterday I ate two Cookies & milk. No dumping but I did feel uncomforbably full. Don't plan on keeping this up. The fudge was in my house of 7 days before I ever even ate one piece. So evidently for now, I don't dump on sweet things. I also stop at a reasonable serving but feel like I could eat like a normal person. I've ate turkey chili, beef chili, ham, bacon, pork roast. Only thing I haven't tried (which I love is steak). I can drink like a normal person, I don't have to sip. …

Ok friends, I'm at week 11 and have only lost 23 pounds. It's extremely difficult to get into the nutritionist at our program. I was supposed to have a 3 month check up with her but it will be February before I can get in to see her. I eat anywhere from 600-900 calories a day. I always get my protein, (mostly from drinks) and I get my water. I'm doing 30 minutes of cardio at least 2 days a week and I do a 30 minute routine of free weights 2/3 times a week. Any guesses as to what I'm doing wrong. I do not eat carbs hardly at all. I don't have any issues swallowing and no food has seemed to bother me so far, I've tried everything but steak and fried stuff. O…

So I posted in the December 2014 forum but it doesn't seem like anyone else with a December date has posted there yet?! Maybe it is still early, anyway I am really looking to keep in touch with people who are going through similar experiences as myself at similar times, so if anyone is having surgery in December say hello! Anyone else of course can say hello too!! SOO excited to be moving forward in my journey!

It's been over a year since I've lost any weight. I know it's my own fault. I eat things I shouldn't and don't move as much as I should. I am trying to change that and get rid of the last 30 pounds. I have been doing water aerobics and signed up for Pink Gloves Boxing. I started tracking my food again and aside from today (family gathering), I have been staying right at about 1,000 calories a day. My husband is quite tall and I'm only 5' so at some point in the next couple of days all the stuff I shouldn't have will go in the cupboard above the fridge. I really want to reach my goal....wish me luck. :-)

It's not foam but a clear or with a tinge of color, thick stuff. The nausea sometimes lasts for for hours as well as the vomiting. Very early on I did get a little nausea because I thought I could eat 1/2 cup but could only actually eat 1/4 cup. An extra bite was too much. This is different. This is full blown nausea, I am going to throw up in the middle of the room if I don't run to the bathroom. In fact, I lost it in the car. OMG. I just ate half a Premier bar. I thought I was going slowly, but apparently not slow enough. I'm so nauseous and want to die at this moment. It's so discouraging. I walked around the store with my husband and just kind of tuned out all the food because there's nothing I can eat. We went to the protein shake isle where I get my Premier Protein shakes (they work best for me) and there I saw the protein bars for the first time. 30g of protein per bar...downside is 8g of sugar, but that's still within my guidelines. The tricky part is I just had my surgery on Dec 16th, and so I need to be careful what textures I eat. I shouldn't have eaten the bar. So sick. So depressed.…

So far I find it helpful because I've always had issues wanting to drink with my meals. I also don't feel hungry at times. Just a FYI if anyone is interested.
