I haven't been able to wear it here lately because I have been so afraid it was going to get lost. I decided to talk to the jeweler about it. I didn't want to have to get it re-sized more than once because I wanted to maintain the integrity of the ring. He told me because of all of the diamonds in it it is better to get it done twice instead of one huge re-sizing. It went down about two ring sizes. YAY! I am so happy to have my engagement ring back! I am a little puffy today due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis, but here it is! Have you had to get rings resized? I had been using this little rubber ring guard and it kept falling off. I just couldn't chance losin…

I live in Michigan does, anyone else on here live in Michigan? And does anyone else on her from Michigan, and also have Medicare & Medicaid for Insurance? If so Is or did the process go slow with those insurance people? I just got through doing my year long meetings with the dietitians and now I am waiting on referral cordinator to get me referral to see a psychiatrist. Om Wednesday I am going to a seminar, so hopefully the process speed up and I hope to get approved, the time of waiting is torture. Can anyone tell me if they are having the same issues of waiting with Medicare and Medicaid.

I am 5 months post op and am experiencing terrible pain in my lower right abdomen. I have been tested for kidney stones, gall stones, and appendicitis. So far, labs show nothing remarkable, except for me being dehydrated. I went to the er on Tuesday, the pain was so intense, and today it is back. It isn't in my pouch, it is on my right side. I don't know what to do at this point, since they can't find anything wrong. Any one else experience anything like this?

  5. I scoured the threads and forms and all I could was a couple of AA VSGer threads.....So, question: Did the RNY resolve your high blood pressure? Completely? Was it the change in diet, less sodium? I've seen the research on the general population on the resolution of hypertension but never broken down by race. So, I'll take the anecdotal evidence gladly because of its predisposition factor with us.

Between then and now crazy can't even begin to describe what has occurred, my middle daughter has had major health issues and was hospitalized for 5 days and has required tons of follow therapies. My youngest has Autism and we have had to battle with the schools, my hubby travels a ton, oh and we moved houses. I have put back on the 10 lbs and then some since then. I got the insurance approval yesterday and scheduled surgery for Dec 29. I have my pre-op day in Dec 9, and see surgeon on the 16th. I'm working on getting that weight off but if it isn't all…

Hey all! I'm 3 weeks post surgery and would love to connect with others from the area!

  12. Started by mandiole,

I am 3 weeks out from surgery as of this last Wednesday. I just had my first checkup with the surgeon and am in normal range but I feel like I am eating too much and am having a hard time knowing what is OK and what is not. My surgeon is not much help and is pretty much on the rude side about everything. Looking for someone that's gone through and has had good luck with everything! Thank you!!!

3&1/2 months out from my last surgery ( had massive complications) and have had depression for many years. Just recently started feeling better but my depression is kicking my ass. Therapy said its PTSD and I didn't like the exercises they wanted me to do. Any ideas?? Some days I don't get out of bed till early afternoon.

Hello all, I have recently been approved for removal of my Lap Band (placed in 2007) and a revision to Gastric Bypass. I went through all the insurance approval process, 6 months supervised diet, sleep study, etc. Definitely a long process, but glad it worked and insurance approved! My surgery date is December 22nd. Can't wait! Anyone have any advice for adjustment after surgery? Does it feel different? Any advice or suggestions to make the process smoother would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Heavens, I never thought I would have this problem! I am 13 weeks out from RNY. I started the preop at 249 and am now 197, but the scale hasn't moved in two weeks. I finally emailed my dietician and she looked at my food journal and I am not eating enough. I'm only getting 200 to 400 cals a day. i try hard to focus on Protein and Water, but my issue is that I am terrified of getting sick. I have not vomited since surgery at all. Once at three weeks out I ate some Soup too fast and was miserable for one night but that is it. I am also having a hard time fixing food that I know I will only eat a few bites of. I am single, live alone so I don't have to cook for anyo…

I am extremely upset. I got denied. I got the call from the insurance coordinator this afternoon. I asked her what we do from here. She said she is going to talk to my case manager and surgeon and see what they want to do and see what my potions are and she will call me. I'm so mad. She said that basically family history doesn't matter (as far as insurance is concerned) and that my pcos doesn't qualify me either. Ugh I'm so frustrated!! AND to top it all off, I'm only 20 lbs away from a bmi of 40. I'm definitely appealing because I can't afford this if insurance doesn't pay. I am completely devastated. I really don't know what I'll do if I can't have the surgery. Advice o…

I had my surgery Sept 17th. I feel like I am not losing weight fast enough. I have lost 31 lbs in 7 weeks. Just had 8 wk post op date but weigh in tomorrow. My RD feels it's too fast, made me bring my calories up to 1000 which I can barely achieve. Iron in blood too high so I had to change my MVI to one without iron. Albumin low so she made me add a protein shake each day. Getting frustrated....heard 5 to 15 lbs a week of weight loss...I am averaging 4 1/2 week. Actually most of the weight was early post op...now 1 to 2 lbs a week. Frustrated!

  24. I am 18 months post op from RNY surgery. The first year I took my B12 shots once per month, but then I switched over to sublingual B12 once per day. During my visit with the nutritionist last week, she asked me what type of sublingual B12 I was taking. Apparently there are two types. The correct type is called methylcobalamin and it turns out that was the type I had been taking. So is this commonly understood? What type are you taking?

  28. I see the doctor tomorrow to review my month 3 labs but they were posted online through a patient portal and most look fantastic except I am very low in ferritin and like double the B12 I should be. I supplement with B12 so he'll probably just have me drop the supplements. Looking online, it's very rare to be high in B12. I'm also low in Protein and ferritin. I understand the protein, it's a sign of malnutrition and very common after WLS... I'll probably just have to redouble efforts to get 60 grams a day or he may have me set a higher daily goal. The ferritin bothers me a lot. I CANNOT take Iron supplements at all... never have been able to. From the first day I t…

Hi, Any help would so appreciated. I am 4 weeks post gastric bypass and the nutritionist said I could start with some steamed chicken so I did, but it's got stuck well and truly! It's been stuck now for 48hrs, in the beginning the pain was overwhelming and had me shaking uncontrollably but now it has eased to a dull ache with intermittent spasms, but I can't get anything but small amounts of liquids pass, tablets just reappear so does food. Does anybody have any tips on helping the chicken digest? Thanks in advance...

I was really interested in the sleeve at first but upon further research im liking the bypass better, mainly for the long term success and because of dumping. I love the fact that eating bad food will make you regret it. my mom and my surgeon are really on board with the sleeve though! I dont know what to do here... I really trust the surgeons opinions and recommendations but i really feel the bypass is the way to go for me! help! anyone in similar situations? which surgery did you have and what are your results? did you wish you had chosen differently? any info about your surgery would be great thanks! 32. Any help would be so appreciated I am 4 weeks post gastric bypass and my surgeons nutritionist said I could now try some steamed chicken, well it's gotten well and truly stuck. It's been stuck for over 48hrs now and I can't get anything but very small amounts of liquids past, tablets just reappear so does food. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help the chicken digest so that it will dislodge, although not as painful as when it first got stuck it still rates on the pain scale and my stomach keeps spasming intermittently. I've been battling reflux ever since my surgery. At first, they did an Upper GI and saw something that "could" be an ulcer, so they told me to double Omeprazole for 6 weeks and return for a 2nd UGI. I had that this week and all is healed (thank God!). But I'm on 40mg TWO times a day. I've started to suspect that maybe Omeprazole itself is giving me reflux? Anyone have any experiences like this? If I take it, I still have heartburn, sometimes all day. But the rare day that I forget to take it? Are not any worse, and sometimes I swear I feel better! Am I crazy?

My food addiction is rearing its ugly head and I'm scared. I tell myself that I will stop snacking and will stop eating when I'm not hungry but just like pre op I keep doing it. I can eat most things without getting sick so that doesn't help. I ate Breakfast today then a snack like an hour later. Then a snack around lunch time. Then I made a medium size pizza and over the course of 5 hours I ate all but 2 slices of it. It's getting out of hand and I just need some encouragement.
