Had my first preop visit with my pcp today. Good news I am no longer taking any medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid & reflux, yeah! Right but why do I have no energy I am meeting my water & protein requirements taking my vitamins & b12. Starting my soft food had 1 oz cottage cheese for lunch. I am tolerating the foods well. No vomiting & nausea. Down 30 pounds from HW today. Am I missing something?

Hi! My bypass was 9/22, and on liquid phase. I don't seem to have any limitations to how much soup I eat or how quickly/slowly I need to drink. How are the rest of you doing? I almost feel like the surgeon only fixed my hernia. ☺️

This will prob aeound weird but here goes. I am in month two of the six month process to surgery. I have been trying to chew my food to mush consistency and it is gross and I find it hard to do. I never expected this. After years of basically inhaling my food I realize the feel of chewed food grosses me out. I mean like I literally want to throw up. Please help!!! How can I overcome this? I need this surgery so badly!! Are there any others with this problem and were there certain foods that were better chewed to mush than others? If you had this problem how long did it take you to get over it?

Have a band of belly fat in midriff area that I cannot seem to get rid of. 15 yrs out from surgery March 1999. When I had my tummy tuck done, the doctor did not do this area and suggested lyposuction in 2002. Does anyone know if any of the advertised belly fat reducing supplements are safe for bariatrics to use and do they work? Thanks

I'm just going through some pain in my cuts. Also I'm having problems eating and drinking the shakes. I can get the food down but the shakes are so hard to take cause I really hate milk. Any one got any ideas of how I can make sure I can get in protein without killing myself trying to drink all this milk.

My surgery was on the 27th. and the first 1-2 days was kinda rough from all the painful soreness and gas inside of me from surgery.but it has gotten better every day. I'm feeling great.. soreness is fading nicely, I feel like the gas is almost out of me, no bowel obstructions, i'm going to the bathroom fine. I'm feeling almost quite normal again. I'm on Clear liquids and it's going down nicely. I do miss chewing and taste of food though. but I just remind myself this isn't forever only temporary. I'm looking forward to pureed stage when these 2 weeks are up. so I can have some nice tuna and scrambled eggs..all the nice healthly stuff. anywayss just wanted to do update on…

I'm 8 days post op and I have been having severe left sided pain that moves from my ribs to my hip bone. I've been to the ER after a ct scan and blood work they can't find a problem. I'm not constipated and I'm not over eating since I have to force myself to eat and drink during the day. Please tell me someone has had this and it will go away!

I'm 5 days post op and I still can't keep anything down. Every sip of water or protein comes right back up. I'm afraid of becoming dehydrated since I've barely had anything to drink since surgery. When I take a sip of anything it feels like my stomach will explode..very intense pain and burning. Is this normal? I'm becoming very discouraged and starting to regret this. Please tell me it gets better!

After my living nightmare of MY experience with gastric bypass and after all my surgeries and complications, I cannot get even close to the protein I need. My tummy hates the shakes and I can only eat a very small portion. Don't know what to do because I've had enough go wrong already and I can handle any more problems. 7 surgeries and over a month in the hospital and almost dying, I need something to go right. Any suggestions??????

Hi I'm searching for anyone in my specific time period to compare notes. Is anyone out there that would like to talk about things. I'm 5'6" I began at 325 I'm now 153. I'm pretty happy. Id love to get rid of skin but that's a whole other subject. I eat pretty much what I want but mostly low fat and very little sugar seeing as I'm one of the ones who dump. When I see ppl I haven't seen in a while they hardly recognize me. It's pretty funny. I have had a few bumps along the way but if I had it to do over a million times I'd opt to do it every time. I love my new self.

So if anyone knows exactly which body chemicals change during the post op process, my doctor had said usually your bodies chemicals change and balance out in about 3 weeks and some people it takes longer. But i have been unable to find any thing concerning these changes, i know one chemical change causes the hair loss in some and thinning of hair in others..etc....

Hi! My name is Beth and I am scheduled for my gastric bypass on September 10th, 2014. I am looking for friends that would like to keep in touch to help each other thru this whole process. I have only been able to go to one support group meeting because of my hours at work (and honestly...it wasn't quite what I thought it would be). I am trying to get healthier now to continue after the surgery. I have lost 25+ lbs in the 6 months my insurance made me wait and have worked up to walking 5 miles 2-3 times a week and 2 miles the rest of the days. I am also trying to stay away from the computer as much as possible. So, if anyone is interested in having a friend to text o…

Hi! I'm 6 days post op and feel great because I walked 1/2 mile this morning. Flat surface, sidewalk, neighborhood. I'm just wondering how to gage the distance. I know we are all different, but I don't want to overdo, but I also want to be sure I'm doing enough. Would love to hear from you all!

Hi Everyone- I've been reading a lot about potential complications, both anecdotally on these boards and in studies, as part of my pre-surgeon appointment research. I'm fairly young (31) compared to a lot of other people I see having WLS, and the surgery's long term impact is of particular interest to me. First, I fully recognize that if I have surgery, I will be taking my doctor's regimen of Vitamins and supplements daily and RELIGIOUSLY, as well as carefully watching my Protein intake in my diet. So my question is...when I see things about people developing increasing anemia (particularly as i'm some ways from menopause), B12 deficiencies, etc, about 5 or so years…

This month marks my 2 years since surgery. I have lost 50% of my body weight since surgery and I am happy where I am at. My problem is...I am TERRIFIED of putting ANY weight back on. I think I am so concerned about it because if I tell someone I have had the surgery, they are like "oh, that's great, my so and so had that surgery but he/she gained all their weight back." I eat pretty good, no fast food, I don't drink alcohol, and I think on average I consume about 1,500 calories a day which I have been told I should be averaging about 800-1000 for being 2 year post op. I try to get 30 mins of walking in per day. I just don't know if I should have the fear of putting t…

I have been having nausea and, vomiting since 2 weeks post op. I had a stricture that kept coming back and had to be dilated 3 times and I'm only 3months post op. I have been in and out of the hospital several, times as well. I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for over 2 weeks. I was unable to take anything by mouth. They put a picc line in and started me on TPN (IV nutrients). Thy had to pull my picc line a week later cause it went bad. I was eating a clear/full liquid diet. Now I'm vomiting again and this time I'm having sever abdominal pain as well. I'm unable to keep much down and it all hurts even water. My surgeon has me on several medications but they aren't helpin…

Since this past Sunday I have not been able to eat anything but a small amount of broth the other day and a few crackers on Sunday night. I went to the urgent care yesterday, they did some tests and everything came out okay but they gave me iv fluid to see if it was dehydration. The fluid seemed to not help at all. I was prescribed zofran for nausea but can only take it every 8 hours and it definitely does not last 8 hours. Even with it on board I can only eat a cracker and my stomach feels like someone is twisting it. I have been trying to keep up on fluids as best I can but it's tough with the nausea. I had surgery on 8-18-14. Anyone with similar problems or advice? I a…

My doctor told me there would be hormone changes after surgery. Namely that I wouldn't be hungry. That has been all well and good but the hormones also gave me a new Dr. Jekyl, Mrs. Hyde personality. I am two and a half months out of gastric bypass and have spent a lot of the time either yelling or crying. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas what to do? I have been extremely fortunate and haven't had any other problems other than this. My weight is coming off slowly but surely. I have no complaints.

Feeling really down and out. I havent set up a surgery date yet, but I get my blood drawn for nicotine on the 24th and after that I'll be able to have surgery but I have to lose a certain amount of weight before they will schedule it. I'm having difficulties doing this. It would be nice to have someone to talk to. It feels almost hopeless.

Hi September Friends, My RNY was on 9/11. While visiting my daughter this weekend, she prepared me a new Protein shake that is going down so smooth and also provides a lot of protein. Since my surgery, I have become quite lactose intolerant, so this helped me as well. 1 c. silk unsweetened almond milk (vanilla flavor) 1 sm. ice cream scoop of almond butter (I found mine at Kroger the the natural food section) Sprinkle of Cinimmon 1/2 frozen banana Ice Mix together in a blender to crush ice, then add protein. I use 1 scoop (25 g) chocolate. Then mix together again. So Yummy, and filling. Hope this helps my friend…

So I was approved for surgery and scheduled 10/2 and I had the most horrible nightmare. I deamt that they called me to cancel my surgery. In my dream I cried so hard and was so devistated. Im still so nervous since it is 12 days away. I am maintaining under my weight but it still seems so hard. 12 days seems so quick yet so far away. On top of all of that I have to host my son's 4th birthday party 5 days before surgery. I dont really care for cake but we will be BBQing. Gotta stay on the strait and narrow. Anyone have these type of bad dreams before surgery?

I had my Surgery Sept. 17th Wed. and I had a complication of severe high blood pressure. I was in the ICU for a night and then transferred to the floor for another night. Doing better now but I had a lot of pain just after surgery. (Not sure morphine agrees with me.) Home now for a couple of days. trying to get my Water intake and starting on Protein shakes.... both are hard. I too have sleep apnea but had no issues in that area. The most unexpected thing after surgery (besides the high BP): was the upper GI before they start you on Clear liquids. I thought it would be a scope... it was not. I stood infront of an xray and drank the worst tasting liquid I have ever …

So, I am going to get tested for sleep apnea here in a few weeks. My surgeon asked if I snore, etc.. I have no clue! So I decided to record myself (via a recorder on my phone) during a nap today. I skimmed through it and noticed my breathing pattern was almost spot on from being awake as it was asleep (breathe loudly in sleep). Then the interesting part was there were many breaks in hearing my breathing on the recording. I tried holding my breath (while awake obviously lol) for the same time period that I didnt hear anything.....i couldnt do it. I felt light headed. This happened multiple times during the 90 min period. You could hear me take a breath roughly ev…
