Hello Bari-Friends! I'm looking for some friends to get through December. I start the liquid diet Dec. 1 for surgery on the 15th. I also have to quarantine, so I'm terrified about adherence to the diet. I'd love to find some like-minded people (no matter when your surgery is) to "meet" with online to share tips, strategies, fun, and progress. My surgery has been delayed repeatedly, most recently because of Covid--twice. Ugh! Now, cold weather and quarantine mean almost nowhere to go and nothing to do. It's unnerving. I'd love to hear from you--drop a line and let's find ways to manage this cold weather, quarantined, Covid, no-food extravaganza and make it fun an…

Any advice would be great as they only gave me one nutrition visit and noting post because $300 out of a pocket a session is too much for my budget right now. I ma 5 weeks post gastric sleeve and struggling with water intake I hate water I have drank sparkling water for the past 10 years. All the crystal lights and Mio I have tried are to sweet. Also my protein intake is awful since the surgery any shake I have tried makes me vomit along with everything else lately. And my weight has stayed the same I have lost nothing. So discouraged right now. Starting the gym Monday

I'm a little over 1 year post-op. Sleeved 12/4/20 in Tijuana, amazing experience, no complications and good follow up care with a good state side PCP who approved of and supported going to Mexico. I started at 345 lbs and currently weigh 225 lbs at 5'7 so 120 lbs lost in a year. Emotionally, I'm sad, frustrated and need some support. I have zero appetite (absolutely none) and take a med who's off label usage is for binge eating disorder which further surpresses anything hunger related. This med is for executive dysfunction issues (ADHD) so going off is not an option. I have no cravings. I'm very much struggling to eat, but I have serious food intolerances. …

I'm 14 months post op and struggling. Feels like the restriction is barely there. But....I haven't been 100% on track. Grazing a lot, not taking vitamins, not exercising, not a great water intake. Who else is struggling this far out? Any recommendations? Needing some encouragement. Do you think I've messed up my surgery? ?

So, I just but the bullet, (like 8 minutes ago!) and sent the deposit for my surgery. I’ll be heading off on the 16th for surgery on the 18th I’ve got a couple of trips away between now and then that my husband has been looking forward to for months and I didn’t want him to miss out otherwise I’d have booked for an earlier date, but hopefully those trips will make the time speed up a bit. Bring it on

I had surgery on Nov 19th. The weight just fell off during the first 4 weeks because I wasn't hungry at all. As soon as I hit 4 weeks, my appetite and cravings came back. I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. I am tracking my food on sparkpeople and I am not eating over 1100 calories a day. I'm not exercising as much as I should and that could be part of the problem. I got a 50% offer off the monthly pass for 6 months from WW. So, I'm thinking of joining for the accountability, meetings and honestly, I'd love to attain lifetime status considering how many times in the past Ive joined WW. What do you all think?

Hi loves, It's been three weeks since my gastric sleeve surgery. Overall I'm feeling fine, but I'm starting to feel weaker as the days go by. It's really difficult for me to get all the water down (there are days where I can't do more than just 32oz). Eating pureed food doesn't hurt me, but the acid reflux I get after is terrible. Today I woke up almost crying, that's how bad it was. I took some medication and of course it went down, but I don't want to take that medication forever?? How far apart are your meals? I'm fine with eating pureed chicken and some broth, but anything else is quite difficult. Most of the protein I'm getting is from whey powders (I found that…

Hi everyone new here. Not sure the etiquette here or what. I'll just start and if I need to post to certain areas, kindly point the way. I had my sleeve done 11/29/21. So far so good. You go through so many emotions I wasn't expecting. Kind of makes you take a step back and think a min. I've been really working on pace. I've always been a fast eater. Yesterday was feeling good and picked up my bottle to swig some water. For a second I forgot, but I caught myself and slowed my roll. The mouthful I had was 3 swallow very carefully:) No one around you gets this. And it's do hard to explain. It's a journey I am seeing and I'm only at day 3....I'm excited and happy for the fi…

I had gastric sleeve surgery on July 21st. Over the first six weeks I lost 30lbs. I haven't lost a single pound since then..... My doctor keeps saying I need to keep my daily calorie intake to 800 or less to lose weight. I haven't been logging everything but I think I'm staying around that number... I'm not a very disciplined person so keeping track of that every day usually doesn't happen. I'm super frustrated and getting depressed over this. If I was able to lose weight by sticking to a very strict diet and exercise program I would have done that a long time ago and never had the surgery. I had a big part of my stomach removed for nothing.... Anybody else out there who …

Had this stupid surgery 5 months ago and I’m still not losing any weight. I’ve been logging my meals and sticking to 800 calories a day like the doctor told me to. And every time I see him he repeats the same thing (It’s obvious he doesn’t believe I’m keeping my calories on target) and he schedules another appointment. Every time I weight exactly the same. I still don’t understand what the surgery is supposed to do for me if I’m required to stick to a low calorie diet long term. Yeah, yeah… “the surgery is just a tool”…. A tool for what? What benefit is the surgery providing? None as far as I can tell.

Hello, I’m new here, I’m having the procedure in April. I’m starting before the surgery to eat the way I will after the surgery. I was advised by my surgeon to eat mainly protein, vegetables and some fruit if I wanted it. He was telling me to be successful I’ll need to give up most carbohydrates all together. I’m having trouble with this thought ill never have pizza or chocolate again. I understand in order to be successful I need to adapt a complete new way of thinking. I need to let go of the unhealthy foods and just eat only healthy foods for the rest of my life. But even normal dieting people still eat some unhealthy foods as a ‘cheat day or trea…

I just had the gastric sleeve done on December 10th and I lost 1.8 lbs. Is this normal? I don’t want to compare myself to others but I’m concerned. Is there anything I should be doing? I can only consume liquids and I struggle with that. When does the weight loss start? ?

Hi all! I'm 23 and got my sleeve 1 week ago (on 12/7). I've been keeping up with my vitamins and trying my best to meet my fluid intake (I drink water, electrolyte water and eat SF popsicles for meals), but I'm having trouble with protein supplements. When I was pre-op, I bought Isopure protein drinks (premade) and they tasted pretty good, but now post-op I can't stand the taste or after taste of them (same flavors as pre-op). This is causing me to not meet my protein goals at all, which is terrible and my body is definitely reacting to it (lots of aches and pains). I'm trying to stay away from the milky shakes since my stomach doesn't handle lactose well in high quantit…

Hi everyone! I had Gastric sleeve in Mexico on October 28th and weighed 283. Today I weight 268. My weight has been 268 for 2 and a half weeks, I managed to get down to 266 Saturday but then went back up!. I’m not eating over 7-800 calories, take in a good amount of water, my protein could be better but I definitely hit at least 40 grams which is what was put to at least hit (40-60 per nutritionist). I move around and walk for at least 15-20 min. What is going on? Is something wrong with me? Did I pay 4500 for nothing? I’m very depressed and thinking I’ll never lose weight. I eat a variety of food I don’t limit anything but it’s all home food not eating pizza and stuff. I…

I could use some help figuring out how to proceed with the all-important protein! What do you all use? I don’t like anything with flavor, so I’m just comparing unflavored powders. 1) Genepro— been using for months successfully, but their product (or labeling?) changed so it might be time to change. Maybe I’ve overestimated how much protein I got if they mislabeled?? 2) Tried Isopure and BiPro Bold (both yuck) 3) Considering Unjury Unflavored—does anyone use this? Taste, smell, texture? 24g scoop, 21g protein at $1.60 per serving. 4) New Genepro (3rd generation) is lower on protein. Calculated to compare to Unjury, a 22g scoop is 22g protein a…

Hello, I’m new here so I hope this post is ok. I am a 47 year old man in the UK who went from being a 10 stone fit guy in my 20s to being 23 stone now. Tried diet after diet and yo-yo’d so much I went dizzy! I am paying privately for a gastric sleeve in January 2022 and my partner seems to have more concern than me. I feel I have done plenty of research but the two questions my partner keeps asking are: 1) will you ever be able to have more than a couple of drinks of alcohol (wine) in future 2) will you ever be able to go for a nice meal again (not just diet food) we are a social couple and like to enjoy nights out but my biggest concern is …

Could anyone on my time line let me know what you are eating and the amounts please. I am drinking well and dont have a problem there.

Can anyone comment on whether the percentage of excess weight expected to be lost with gastric sleeve is actually post-surgery vs all the pre-surgery weight loss from expected on your own weight loss and the pre-op diet? I'm expecting the ~60% excess weight loss predicted to be additional Post-surgery weight loss on top of what I've lost so far since gastric sleeve reports as a surgical intervention. The "60% excess weight loss" shouldn't count what I've lost on my own with a restrictive diet and exercise? If not, having the surgery to lose just 50# or less seems maybe not a great choice? Thoughts? Or, can anyone share their own stats showing the 60…

My left leg only has always had varicose veins. Anytime I get up from a nap since last night, my leg kind of hurts near the varicose vein on my calves. It's not painful, just noticeable. Sometimes have some tingling in my back too. No redness by veins, but my husband said it is warm to the touch. I take blood thinner pills twice a day.

I can barely walk, i'm in excruciating pain, thank god it hit me in this stage of at least being some what healed. Has anyone else gone through this and what did they do relieve themselves of the pain. How was the protein intake. Anything !!?!??

So every now and then I experience pain, not bad pain but enough for me to wonder is this normal? It can happen after being active which atm isnt very much as where i live its over 40 degrees Celsius outside and i work 12 hours shifts sitting on my now pancake butt ? anyway back to the pain it can be short stabbing or last awhile in my tummy area and some near the incision scars. Could it be scar tissue? Or should i be concerned i also have left shoulder pain but not sure if its an old injury flaring up or referred pain from whatever is going on inside my tummy. Oh and sometimes its a kinda burning pain ?

My surgery is December 7th and I’ve been on clear liquids (broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles) since 11/29. My surgeon doesn’t even allow protein shakes pre op. I’m hungry, low energy, nauseous, dizzy, and headache…etc. I called the office and was told that this is his pre op and that ton of patients have made it through fine. I’m considering downing a protein shake a day just to survive until Tuesday. I’ve already lost 10 lbs. Is this the hardest part of the process? I’m good with the changes I have to make post op, honestly can’t wait to meet me 2.0 ? but I’m struggling and crying tons because I’m so hungry and weak. Do people make it through surger…
