  1. I had my surgery in August, I’ve lost a ton of weight but never been able to drink or eat as much as recommended. It can take me nearly 6/7 hours to consume 16 ounces of clear liquid if I don’t eat any food If I eat food it’s typically 4 hours before I can consume liquids again When I do eat I can only get down 2/3 bites max. Usually after the first bite I feel deathly I’ll sick and close to puking. After 2/3 bites if I push further then I throw up I’m consuming 200-400 calories a day max I tried going back to purred food but even puréed potatoes I can only do 1/2 bites of. I can’t finish a protein shake or a bowl of soup I feel horrible for ho…

I like to capture myself in the ring camera. The first photo was about 2 weeks ago and the second was about in June 2021. I had surgery in August 2021. 70 pounds down. Best decision I ever made to have surgery. In the June photo, I was restricting calories, doing insane crossfit workouts every day and getting nowhere. Life is so much easier now. If you're on the fence, do it. You won't regret it.

  5. Hello! Hope everyone is doing well I'm new here so sorry if this is the wrong place. I'm 4 weeks post op, and my surgeon and nutritionist have had me on soft foods for a week and said that I'm cleared to start testing more foods whenever I feel comfortable. I've been trying things like scrambled eggs (as they didn't sit well in my throat in the early soft food stage) and chewing boiled vegetables up thoroughly. The thing I'm having difficulty with is that I'm not sure how to tell when things don't agree with me? My "full" is the tenseness in my sternum area, and I get the hiccups. I stop at that point. Sometimes my stomach starts making …

I have gained about 10lbs and I haven’t been doing anything different. I eat healthy and walk 2 miles a day. My PCP did change me to a birth control pill. Could that be causing weight gain? Or and I on a stall?

Hi! I know I've been posting alot lately and appreciate everyone's responses! I am still undecided which surgery I will be getting but am leaning towards the sleeve. I am starting at a higher weight (375lbs) - my surgeon says the sleeve could bring me down to about 230lbs but I guess I'm just looking to see true life results. If you had the sleeve, could you please let me know the following: Starting weight: Current weight: Date of surgery:

Hi everyone! I had a lapband in 2012, and have gained everything back plus...... So I have some questions and need some info- would a revision to a gastric sleeve be successful (of course I have to do my part). My insurance does not cover anything, unfortunately, so it will be pricy if I decide to do it.....please just give me some pros and cons and things to consider......thank you so much!

? Look at my sig!! I am so happy to be half way to my goal weight. 12 weeks since my op tomorrow and in that time I've lost 33lbs. I know it's likely to slow down, and I've had one stall of almost 3 weeks already but I am so amazed by how well this surgery has gone for me. I used to read about you all losing or having lost stones and stones and never really thought it would be me. Part of me still doesn't believe it! I was always hoping I would reach my goal by a year post op and I really think I can do it now. Huge thanks to all of you who have shared your knowledge and experience and helped me this far. I'll stop now - it's beginning to feel like a …

Hi All, I’m two weeks post sleeve. Getting concerned that I don’t feel ‘full’ after 6 tablespoons of food. This is causing me to worry in case I eat too much and cause problems. I’ve not been sick or had dumping syndrome so worried if something is wrong. Terrified that I’ll overeat and stretch my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just over worrying at the moment? I am assuming that if I ate too much - I would know about it. Appreciate any advice, thanks.

How soon after your sleeve did you start taking solid tablets again (eg. paracetamol, ibuprofen or acetaminophen?) - I am in agony and have run out of the liquid stuff but don't want to ruin my sleeve by taking something I shouldn't. I'm 7 weeks out.

Hello, I am so glad to have found this forum right before my surgery. I am an American, but I currently live in Egypt and I will be getting my VSG on January 26th! I have lived in 4 countries in the past 3 years, which has led to poor choices in food and exercise. I think it's mainly because of adjusting to local food, navigating what food you are buying (sometimes there aren't even nutritional labels), and as I previously loved late runs at night that is something I left behind states side because in some countries I have lived in it is considered quite odd and you get lots of uncomfortable stares. I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if there are any people with …

Hi guys, how many calories were you consuming 3 days post op? I feel like I’m ingesting too much I had an Actimel 0% (27 cal) in the morning, 330ml protein shake (155 cal) for lunch which went down quick and a cup of soup (90 cal) in the afternoon which didn’t take me long to finish either. my surgeon never gave me a calorie amount. I’m currently planning on having another cup of soup (90 cal) is this too much for 3 days post op? Surgery was 02/02/2022

Hi everyone! I had VSG done 9/13. I went in to surgery at 241 and today I weigh 187. I wanted to post because of a couple reasons. I have hit a big stall, I have been fluctuation up and down 2-3# for almost the a month now. Stalls before never got to me too bad, I would stay off the scale and trust the process. I weigh myself maybe once or twice a week. I’m starting to mentally panic because in addition to this stall, I have found myself slipping into some bad habits. I’m in a season of high stress (I’m in nursing school, working, and being wife/mom)- which is no excuse. Up until this point I was not perfect, but mindful of my food choices and walked about 8-15 m…

Hello, I have just started the pre-op process, but haven't decided on sleeve or gastric bypass. Any issues? Would you do it again? Thank you!

  20. Hi guys! I have my surgery in March, and my surgeon said it's still up for discussion in terms of which surgery I could undergo. I was thinking to do the VSG. I recently had an endoscopy done where it showed I have mild GERD. I brought this up to my surgeon and he said that either surgery done will be fine for me (VSG or RNY). But I'm wondering if thats the salesman in him talking because I thought even slight traces of GERD before VSG will get worse after. So I wanted to know your experiences. Any of you had mild GERD before surgery and how it is after the VSG? Right now I'd say I take tums 1-2x a week. Sometimes an occasional Pepcid. I do admit I have trouble with bulim…

I am five years out from my sleeve. I am going in next week for an EGD as my surgeon suspects my hiatal hernia is blocking my sleeve. I am only able to eat a couple ounces at a time without feeling terribly full. I read a message here where someone stated their surgeon was able to push the sleeve back into place during their EGD. I have never heard of this before. Has anyone else heard about hernia symptoms being relieved during an EGD?

After 2 weeks pre op diet and a week and 4 days of protein shakes and broth I ventured out and had a cup of Panera broccoli and cheese soup. First off what a treat with the little pieces of broccoli and carrots. I know I’m supposed to strain the pieces out but I haven’t had any issues getting anything down and the pieces are blended for the most part. Anyway it was delicious and it’s the first time I’ve actually felt full after eating. Im looking forward to finishing the rest of my soup tomorrow at lunch!!!

In the Spring of 2020 during the height of COVID my neighbors dog ran out on me and as I stumbled while trying to get away from the dog I fell, hit the concrete, & couldn't move. 27. I had a sleeve back in 2015. I lost 100 pounds. I've gained between 25 to 30 pounds through the years. I have several health issues, one being burning mouth syndrome. Nothing tastes good and I'm nauseated off and on during the day. this past year, my parents have declined so I care for them as well as maintaining my own family. I'm extremely overwhelmed with managing everything and the traveling . I need to get back on the straight and narrow. just not sure how at the moment. I'm tired. Thanks for listening.

I lost 65 pounds in total (I'm at 165 now) but would love to go down to 130lbs at least. Is the weight loss done for me? I'm wondering if there was no more weight loss for any one of you after less than a year. I just want to mentally prepare myself if 160-165 is the lowest I will get

I haven't been on in quite a while... My surgery was in March 2021. I have since lost almost 90lbs, but my weightloss has completely stalled. I've been in the low 270s for months. And I do know why. I have essentially stopped following all recommended healthy eating habits and work regimens. I've also noticed that I can consume more in one sitting than I was able to do just a few weeks ago. I'm nervous. My annual follow-up is in about a month+ and I am ashamed of the fact that I haven't lost any additional weight since I was last there 6 months prior. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to get back on target? Has anyone ever done a succ…

As of today, my BMI is 29.8 and I am officially overweight. Sounds kind of funny to be happy to be classified as overweight to those who have not struggled as obese for many years. I am super motivated to get to my next goal! I have set up many interim goals for myself to shoot for that are more attainable than a long term goal. My next goal is to get below 200 pounds (8 to go) and then to hit 100 pounds lost (15 to go). After that I will set up goals for BMI levels until I get to where I feel comfortable at a particular point.

Hello All, Sometimes it is nice to know that you are in a group of the "world's best" at something. It is my opinion that we are the world's best at losing weight. I do not mean to imply that once we have had bariatric surgery, we are good at losing weight. I am willing to say that, prior to your surgery, you have lost (and gained) tens and tens of pounds over your lifetime. You have tried at least six or more diets and you were probably successful in losing a significant amount weight on each of them. I have done this too. The problem is we are world class weight gainers also ...ugh! Thankfully, we have weight loss surgery to help us eat fewer calories. However…

  35. Hi guys, I'm just over 2 months out from VSG surgery and things are going pretty well. There are certain things that I know I can easily fit into my new pouch - like one egg. I tend to eat these things very quickly now, kind of waiting for my full feeling to catch up afterwards. Also when I start a (tiny) meal I eat the first half really quickly, protein first, and *then* slow my eating right down tiil I find my full point. Is there anything wrong with that?

  36. I don't own any dresses but I've seen some people recommend to wear a dress after surgery because it won't rub against the incision sites as much. I don't know if it's worth buying a dress I would never wear again to wear for the week of surgery. I don't even have a nightgown or anything like that, nor a robe. Can I just wear baggy, elastic/drawstring waist pants? Thanks!

How did you go about setting your end goal? I have realised that because I have been overweight for so long I don't know where I want to ultimately end up as I don't know how it will look or feel. It is not something I have ever discussed with my surgeon either. Just wondered how others decided!

Hoping I’m doing everything right and I guess just looking to chat with others going thru this also.. family is supportive but they don’t really understand certain things I’m going thru.. I’m on day 13 after my surgery and just seem to be having issues trying to get enough protein and water in..wondering other peoples routines.. thanks for reading..?

Hi,Everyone I haven’t posted on here before always been lurking though. I have gained a lot of knowledge from the community pre and post surgery. Recently I developed really bad heartburn and reflux(GERD). It’s almost 3 yrs since my surgery everything has been great but this brought me to my knees . It sent me to the ER. The DR put me carafate and bland diet I called my surgeon and he referred me to GI Dr., appt coming up. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this. I’m a little scared and anxious about what’s going on. My pre-op endoscopy showed no evidence of GERD. Any info would be very helpful Thanks

This discharge is coming down excessively feels like day 2 of my menstrual cycle. I have to wear a normal pad. I had covid so I was not able to see my gynecologist until now. Hi, I’ve got a consultation booked for sleeve surgery booked at a private hospital in the UK. I have a BMI of 35, is this enough to go ahead with the surgery? I don’t have any weight related health conditions, such as, I don’t have diabetes, although my brother has type 2, so I have a potential risk of it. Any advice please, as I don’t want to be disappointed going for my consultation to be told I’m not eligible. Warm wishes colly
