Hello All, Reading this forum for a few months has taught me that everyone is a little different. But today, I am looking for some 'misery loves company' friends. If you are able, riddle me this. Why are there times you get so cold? I do not understand. As for context, I am a few weeks post surgery. Things are going well...just wondering who gave me a membership into this Polar Bear Club. I wasn't looking to join a club where members are forced to freeze nearly to death. Through my years, I have always been a warm person...temperature wise that is. To say it another way, I have always been a "scrub a little too hard and I can sweat in the shower" kind…

?? Everyone! My first solo post haha. Long time Lurker. Had Sleeve surgery w/HH repair on 2/28. Definitely went through buyers remorse the first 2 days. Mostly due to gas and incision pain. Today I am moving around much better still not quite getting all my protein in but I know it will come. Preop I lost 42lbs, not sure how much post yet. My issue is I have bad gas or bloat in my abdominal area. I didn’t have chest, shoulder, back gas pains it’s only been in my stomach area. I’ve been walking, walking, I pass some gas but not a ton. It’s like the gas is just floating around in there and my bottom part is sealed it up in there like a tomb if that makes sense. I d…

Hi everyone. Had my surgery June 5 2021. I’ve lost around 93lb and feeling great. Physically had no problems with the surgery which I’m very very grateful for. Over the last maybe 6 weeks, though, I’ve lost nothing. I can feel myself getting back into bad habits. I go to the supermarket and, instead of picking up chicken, I pick up chocolate or crisps. I also have found that my portion sizes are slightly larger now over the last couple months, even with protein foods like plain chicken with vegetables. A few times last year, maybe 3-4 times, I ate too much and was sick. Often I would feel that really full feeling like something is stuck in my throat. But this …

I have finally reached One-derland after 6 months post surgery. I have lost 94 pounds now and am resetting my goal to 190. I am feeling so good and look like I did when I was in my 30s (I am 58). If you are just starting out, stick with it. It is worth all the suffering and dedication.

Hey all - So like many of you, I am still trying to figure out what normal means, six months post surgery. First off, I am so happy I did the VSG - no complaints, I feel great, surgeon was fantastic, their office is responsive and follows up and I am down from an all-time high of 305, 261 on Surgery Day, and 195 Today. Hoping to get to 185. That's where my difficulty is: In the past 10 weeks, I have lost maybe 5 pounds. I find my weight fluctuates daily +/- 5 pounds, so I only track the lows as benchmarks. (IDK: water retention, lack of BM, salt...). My low was 194, today 196, the other day 200 (which is a number I hate!). I think I am spoiled by the rapid…

Taking my own advice - Hold myself accountable. Surgery 10/2020, HW somewhere in the 280's. Low weight 165 ... Current weight 175.... Why? Here's why... Last day tracked January 19th Last regular/daily tracking November 2021 Last day registered weighing - January (I still do weigh almost daily though) Eating/drinking (including alcohol) whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted - "Justified" it by telling myself "It's ok, I can't eat that much of whatever... and I'm drinking low calorie alcohol. All of this equals close to 10lb overall gain in a fairly short period of time. Failing to address it now will simply put me back wh…

Long time lurker, first time poster here today. I had my gastric sleeve procedure today and the procedure went well. Minimal pain at the incision sights, but holy cow is the pain from the gas no laughing matter! Currently sitting in a recliner in the hospital room hoping to fall asleep when with the high amount of pressure in my chest from the excess gas. Any advice other than walking it off? I was actually walking so much the staff reminded me rest is also critical to my recovery. I just want the pressure gone!

Hey everyone - Had GSV yesterday and it went well. Had a ton of pain from gas buildup but that’s subsided a ton today thanks to a ton of walking yesterday and this morning. The other pain I have is when drinking anything at all. Feels like the sharp pain kicks in when the liquid reaches the new sleeved stomach. Is this pretty normal to have this pain shortly after the operation?

Hello again, I was just wondering mainly people with PCOS did you guys have any luck with fertility? I also have one ovary and I wondering something else, how did you guys prevent pregnancies. For me, I had a severe reaction to the milli pill aka norethindrone-e.estradiol-iron (JUNEL FE 1/20) 1 mg-20 mcg (21)/75 mg And I was just wondering did anyone use the arm implant or depicote shot if so did it prevent any pregnancies?

I found myself going up a bit for the first time since sleeve surgery due to sneaky "exceptions" ? which I allowed to my healthy eating plan. I since found that a helpful practice is to drink a full half liter glass of water before allowing myself to eat any food or other drink and breaking my meal into two portions separated by at least 15 minutes. When I do that, I really am unable eat more than planned, sometimes I don't even finish. That has me headed in the right direction again, just about back to my lowest weight, which is close to my overall goal. Not saying it's right for others, just a practice that I find quite helpful...

Hello everyone, I just get the news that my sleeve will take place on Nov 5th! I'm sooo excited, but have a question to ask people in or out of recovery. I house/dog sit & was wondering how long I would need to request off of my calendar. These dogs don't do walks, but i will need to bend over to feed the pups. I literally just chill w/ them on the couch & do studying on my laptop. So, how many days should I take off of my availability from house sitting?

Hello, I'm new here. My VSG surgery is scheduled for January 12 and I'm starting to get cold feet. I have no one supporting this decision and they keep trying to discourage me. I guess my question is, after 4 weeks or so of recovery, do you feel like this surgery was a good decision? I also have a cruise scheduled at exactly my 6 week post op mark and idk how the recovery is at that stage. Helllllllp!

So I’m almost 5 weeks post op, I’m down 41lbs including my 2 week pre-op. I have moved to soft foods stage 4 in my plan. Egg salad, scrambled eggs, cheese sticks, chili, still eating soups and I have now added fluke, and cod to the menu. I’m able to take in about 3-4oz of the fish, 2 scrambled eggs, a cup of soup(doesn’t matter which type, also not eating chix if chix soup and so on) I drink a protein shake almost every day(fair life 150 cal 30g protein) and I’m now back at the gym treadmill 30-40 min both incline and non inclined and I started with the weights(not heavy) I feel my stomach is probably healed at this point as my acid reflux has gone away since eating some …

Has around anyone my size in this forum gotten gastric sleeve surgery? Do you have any regrets or do you wish you had gotten it sooner. I was always small when I was younger. I was under 100lbs when graduating high school. But after my 30s I started gaining and now at 50 I can't lose it at all. No matter what I try. I feel my next step/hope is WLS. Any info will be helpful. Thanks

I’m exactly 3 weeks post op and been suffering with very bad constant back pain for the past 4 days. I can’t sit still at work, I can’t stand or walk for too long either. Im not sure whether it’s gas pain or something else. I also have stomach pain and bring up foamy stuff whenever I have a drink of water. Anyone experienced something similar?

I am five-months post gastric sleeve and in the middle of a five-week stall where I have not lost any weight. While admittedly after being impacted by Covid my exercise (walks) did go down, but over the last two weeks have been walking an average of 8000 steps compared to an average of 4000 steps for the first four months post op. Unfortunately, owing to mental stress have also been somewhat taking liberties with the diet, especially with occasional ice cream, and chips at night and also diet coke. For information, my surgery weight was 330 lbs with current weight 268 lbs with a total weight loss of 62 lbs over exactly five months. Reading the forum I understand sta…

I am really nervous about getting dehydrated, which I heard can lead to kidney stones and other complications after WLS. I'd love to hear how everyone manages to get in enough liquids during the day, and what's considered enough at this point. One strange thing for me is that I see others are having a hard time drinking more than a few sips at a time and I have no problem with 2 oz in one shot! Why is this?

I had sleeve placed last week. Sleeve was chosen because I had pre-existing pancreatic insufficiency resulting in a lot of loose stools requiring use of pancreatic enzymes. My GI doc and surgeon thought sleeve would cause less problem with malabsorption and further diarrhea. As I read, I’m seeing a large number of sleeve patients develop severe reflux/gastritis and new hiatal hernias. Can anyone comment on how often this happens or ways to prevent it? Thank you!

I'm interested in hearing how you split your day up with your food and drinks, and what your menu looks like. I'm in the pureed stage, and wow, is this bo-o-o-ring. I've been making the ricotta bake, but how much of this stuff can one person eat?? LOL! So I'd love to see a "meal plan" from others in this stage... (or veterans who recall what their day looked like...)

I began my WLS journey in 2015 with gastric sleeve surgery in September. My starting weight was 301, which I had managed to diet down to 285 by the time I was approved for surgery. Surgery weight was 277. Surgery was uneventful and I was back at my normal activities within a couple days. My goal weight was 185, but I only managed to lose down to 210. I believe this was because I made the mistake of continuing to drink alcohol after surgery (although less than before) and still ate too many snacks and slider type foods. Over the next several years my weight gradually increased until it settled in at about 230-235. Then the pandemic occurred and that added 20 pounds, s…

Today was my first sip of my protein drink. You would think I was drinking liquid gold! It tasted sooooo good. I was getting bored and tired on soup broths, jello, propel water and those sugar free ice pops. I think I will be able to sustain much better now that I can have my protein drink.

Well I am finally catching up with the rest of my November sleeve buddies. I felt that I have been lagging behind for so long and wanting to be where you all are in your progress. I can finally eat my protein allotment and a tiny amount of vegetables. There is some joy in eating again, I have missed the vegetables and salad more than anything. I almost lived on chicken before my sleeve but its the only thing unacceptable to my new stomach now. I am looking forward to having more energy and va va vroom

Hey guys, Just some details: I've only just met with the surgeon a couple weeks ago and am still completing my appointments and tests. I am female and currently weigh 375lbs and am 5'5. My surgeon said I would have great success with either sleeve or bypass with the bypass yielding most weightloss. I am still very unsure as to which one I want, but am leaning more towards the sleeve since the surgery doesn't seem as intense as bypass. I am nervous, however that I won't have significant weightloss with the sleeve since I am starting at such a high weight. I totally understand I will need to put in work for either one and everybody's body is different. Am I ov…

Hi everyone, I had the gastric sleeve and I am regretful of it. I want my stomach to stretch or to have hope that one day it might. I was honestly so much happier before. I’m wondering if anyone knows if the sleeve can stretch and how much? Is it possible to have a surgeon do this? I realize this is an odd request but I miss dinners with my boyfriend and family. If someone has information please let me know.

I visited the sleep center today and was given results by the NP. I have had three previous studies. The first one I only slept 16 minutes out of eight hours. The second study was better but I could not tolerate C -PAP so they stopped that study and had me come back in for Bi-PAP. I sure do hope this does not set my surgery date back. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thank you and be blessed.

Hi guys had my surgery 02/02, start weight was 21.9. I got down to 20.9 before my op on the LRD. first week weigh in after surgery was a loss of 8 pounds and this morning week 2 I’ve lost 3.5 pounds. However I got on the scale Sunday and it showed a 3.5 pound loss then, so in 3 days the scale hasn’t moved and I’m still on liquids? what do we reckon, I’m going to be a slow loser? Or I’ve hit the dreaded 3 week stall early? thankyou.

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I am 18 days postop and struggling to get my protein shakes. Prior to surgery…nonissue. Now any dairy causes me to go to the bathroom. I assume this is normal due to the rapid dumping from stomach to intestines. Has anyone found any tolerable non dairy protein? How did you get your protein in postop? Also… I was home on FMLA for 2 weeks postop. Felt great so I went back to work Tuesday. Now for the past two nights I’ve had some left sided flank pain. What could it be? This happen to anyone else?

Hi, I had VSG 2/10/2020.. since then I have been on the journey alone.. SW 228 CW 169. I have no clue how to eat, what to eat, how many calories etc... My surgeons office is no help, Saw him Feb 1 2022, sent a message to the dietician Feb 2 2022, still no response. I will be having my 3rd CT scan tomorrow the 15th as I had some massive pains at the largest incision that started July last yr 2021.. The pain feels like hernia but was told there isn't one there.. will see what this CT shows if anything. When I asked my surgeon about the constipation *coffee 1st thing in the AM has helped A LOT* My surgeon told me not his specialty and to talk to my PCP! Thankfully she has ha…

March 3rd, 2022, will be my one year post-op anniversary. I have lost 127 lbs. For a while now, everytime I eat something, I feel like I am gaining weight! I have this constant worry about it. I try on different clothes, just to make sure I am not, I check the scale regularly, etc. I love my success, and I would do it ten times over, if I had to, but I do not like this constant worry about weight gain.

I’m not sure if I’m not eating enough or eating too much. I eat around 800-900 calories a day some days a little over 900 i stopped working out because I wasn’t seeing a difference but idk . My goal was 180 and I was so close but I’m back up 6 pounds and it won’t go away. Any advice ?

At what point did you stop losing? I’m almost at a year, and have gone up/down the same 2 pounds for 2 months. I am happy at this weight (would love to lose another 10-15 pounds to be at a “normal” BMI), but am wondering if this is typically the end of weight loss. I’m feeling pretty good about continuing the daily maintenance it would take to stay this way long term. I’m not willing to do much else to lose weight because mentally, I feel I’d start obsessing, which would backfire eventually. I want to be at peace and not gain. ?

Hi everyone! I'm Shelley... 32 years old and mum of 4 mini me's! I have been contemplating surgery for a few years now and have finally made the decision to go ahead! I'm based in the UK but will be having my surgery privately as these surgeries are not easily available on the NHS. After my initial consultation last week my surgery has been booked for 12th April 22 with my pre op taking place on the 25th March! A very quick turnaround which is great for me as i'm a bag of nerves! I found this forum while google searching for other peoples experiences, thought I would join, say hello and share my journey.

I am about 6weeks out with my Gastric Sleeve. I had the surgery Dec 29,2021. This past week it seems nothing tastes good or right. I’ll get so hungry and ready to eat, take a bite and it just isn’t good and don’t want to eat it. How long does this last? Also, how long till you get over the regret of having the surgery? I will admit it is getting better it isn’t everyday. I went on errands with the family this weekend and totally got off my schedule and so didn’t feel good that evening. So the rest of the weekend totally depressed that I would not be normal again and not be happy again. How long till you feel normal again or even your new normal? Please no negative comme…
