5'6" 217lbs getting sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

Has around anyone my size in this forum gotten gastric sleeve surgery? Do you have any regrets or do you wish you had gotten it sooner. I was always small when I was younger. I was under 100lbs when graduating high school. But after my 30s I started gaining and now at 50 I can't lose it at all. No matter what I try. I feel my next step/hope is WLS. Any info will be helpful. Thanks

I am 5’8” and was 235 when I started my journey. I can’t even remember my weight in high school or college because it was just NEVER A concern of mine until my late twenties when the symptoms of bipolar began. Between depression and the medication for the illness I just gained and gained. Dieting and regaining over and over until I finally got the sleeve. Now at 11 months out I am just above the “normal” range of BMI. I have to accept that on these meds I will never be a size one or even a three again but I am still very happy with my decision to do the sleeve. I have to admit that all I have been doing in terms of exercise is walking so with more exercise I would definitely be a normal BMI by now I’m sure.

I am 5'6" and weighed in at 214 on the day of my sugery 2 1/2 weeks ago. I, too, was skinnier when I was younger. Over the past 5 years or so, I gained weight and could NOT lose any weight no matter what I tried.

After the gastric sleeve 2 1/2 weeks ago, I am already down to 198. This is such a gift! It's not easy, but it's so worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. This is changing my life!!!!![emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173] I know, you too, will love it!!!!!![emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173]

Thanks for your info. So happy to hear your positive feedback!! I'm hoping surgery will help with my feet pain and I'll be able to exercise more to help with more weight loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
