I doubt a 'detox' in this way will stop you feeling sluggish. You are likely feeling sluggish because you aren't getting sufficient fluids and the low calorie base, plus your body is still in recovery mode. Take your vitamins and other supplements as recommended, drink your fluids and follow food guidelines for types of foods and volumes.

Is meat on post op guidelines for the stage you are at? If not, perhaps you best speak to your nutritionist or surgeon, if so, prepare the meat as instructed and you should be fine. If its a struggle give it a couple of more weeks before attempting again.

at three weeks out you should be following your plan to a "T". You are still healing. You could really muck things up. It's pretty common to have no energy at this point - you just had major surgery, and it takes time to heal. Also, does your plan allow meat at this point? I know plans differ, but I'm pretty sure I was still eating purees at three weeks out.

Why are you eating meat already at 3 weeks post-op? I wouldn't do a "detox" or a "cleanse" at this point because y ou just had major surgery and your body is healing and adjusting. Just give it some time. You're without energy because your body just had a major trauma. That's normal. Give it some time.

I had meat 3 weeks post-op, it was in my plan.

I want to do a 5 day detox

Hey OP! Sorry you're feeling like this.

I may be overstepping what you'd consider normal conversation, but could this be mental as much as physical? A "detox" won't detoxify anything really, and it could set you up to the same binge-purge spiral so many of us know too well?

I certainly wouldn't be having meat I think I was about 4months out before I had meat and I wouldn't detox neither just take your time and heal

Again, it's in plenty of plans from weeks 3-4. How is this helping OP?

No, not safe you just had major digestive surgery

Hi Olivette,

Take some time to think about your eating habits since you had surgery, what did you eat? Did you get all your fluids in as well? If you followed your plan and if allowed meats at this stage then please contact your care team, Nutritionist or Surgeon to find out what steps you can take. You did so good feeling something is off this early on so you’re in tune with knowing how you want to feel.

you may be jumping the gun though so please don’t do the cleanse and contact your care team, you still have years to get used to your new stomach so you need guidance along the way. Hope you feel better!

Hello OP! If I were you I'd stick to your plan - there's no such thing as a detox really and if you're healing then certainly you need to eat. But if you're feeling that meat isn't agreeing with you at the moment, maybe put a pause on it and try fish or something else. Certainly I've been happier with fish than meat recently. Experiment and look after yourself. But do make sure you're getting enough sleep which may be more than before.
