  1. How did you get in your shiurim for achilat matzah after surgery?????

  2. Started by Megndanielle820,

I had VSG in 2019. I went from 230 to 125 and now I am 195. I just feel SUPER defeated and worried I’ll never get the weight back off.

Quick question, as of recently, has anyone had VSG or any WLS using 1199? I’m just curious as to whether I’ll be approved or not.

Curious, for those that are over 300 lbs what results did you see in 6 months or a year??

About me: I am 32 years old, work full time, am married and have 1 daughter. She’ll be 4 in May. I have struggled with weight my entire life, lost a large amount my last year few years or college and put it back on plus more. I have been in the 300s for like 6 or 7 years and recently gained 25 more lbs during a stressful move. Hello all, first post here… I had the sleeve done on 2/23 and I’m really struggling physically and emotionally. I’m not getting the protein or water intake like I should be because nothing is appealing to me. I’m sick of protein shakes, and nothing else tastes good to me. I’m on the puréed diet which I think can be moved to soft food but even that it just doesn’t appeal to me. As for water I am getting roughly 20-30oz a day by sipping which is really hard for me because I’m used to chugging 16 oz bottles at a time. Pre-surgery I was getting about a gallon a day. I feel thirsty all the time and I’m tired because of the lack of protein. I’m just at a loss and really r…

It's the small things that really make the beginning of this journey wonderful. I'm not very far out (Sleeved 03/07/22) but the little things that keep happening and changing are reminding me that it was so worth it. I have lost about 30lbs since the start of my journey (HW:281 SW:268 CW:237) and am smaller than I have ever been in my adult life. I see the small things changing and it keeps me fighting. Yesterday, I bought size 20 jeans that are even a tad loose on me and I've always been 22-24s. I bought some workout pants a few months ago that I thought would fit but were too small and put them on today and they fit PERFECTLY. I see my face thinning and can feel my coll…

So I am a dairy lover and thought it would be a good idea to try and get some protein in by drinking some milk… boy did I regret that later that night! I had major bloating and gas pain that I had to take Tylenol for just to get comfortable. Is this a common thing after gastric sleeve and will it go away? I can’t live without my cheese and dairy products, my WI family would disown me! Lol, not really but you know how us Cheeseheads are about our dairy.

I just started to take a whey protein drink to add some protein to my diet and i found something interesting. It may be a coincidence but i take anticoagulants (acenocoumarol) and found that my levels had dropped after a routine blood test this morning. Has anyone been through something like this? just curious.

Tina's WLS journey. My journey will begin April 29 day of surgery. I'm excited and in big hopes that I can follow the diet. I've got to get rid of all this fat. My health issues are getting worse and if I don't do something I'm going to shorten my life. So please help me thru this journey.

  15. Hello everyone. I am wondering, on average, when weight loss stopped after gastric sleeve surgery? Thank you.

  16. Started by LouLouM,

I had gastric sleeve on November 29th and have been the same weight for 3 weeks. Just want to either hear, Yes, that's normal, or if perhaps I need to reevaluate what I'm eating. Thanks!

  17. Hi, everyone! I’m 11 months post-op from VSG and I have a bit of a dilemma. I have not been losing any weight as of about 6 weeks ago. I’m 38, 5’5”, and currently yo-yoing between 177 and 178 during every weekly weigh-in. I still want to lose about 30 more pounds to put me in a healthy weight class. Nothing has changed with my eating habits - I still eat very small portions, mostly solid protein, and do not snack much during the day. Since the surgery, I have had some issues with orthostatic hypotension (dizziness from low blood pressure) and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), so I would be very surprised if my diet needed any adjustment right now. I should mention that …

Hello everyone. I am almost 4 weeks postop, I had my sleeve surgery on February 21st. In general, after the first week, I have not had any issues with vomiting. However today, I had a pretty bad episode. I ate some scrambled eggs (I’m still in puréed and I’m trying really hard to stick to the plan) , and had a lot of belching right after (is that gerd? I hope not!). About 15 minutes later I felt it coming back up and vomited everything back up. My main question is— what could have caused this? Did I eat too fast? Was it not chewed enough? Was it too much (I measured about 3.5 oz)? Could it have been a combination of all three? I’m hoping some people at or further in the…

    Anybody out there???

  20. Hi all - I’ve been trying to get into my surgeon’s office but they’re really booked out. As I keep trying, I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this post-op. (Sleeved 2/2021) Since December, I’ve frequently been experiencing a burning sensation in the lower left part of my stomach, regardless of what I do or don’t eat. I’ve taken Prilosec and it helps temporarily, but the feeling is getting more intense. I don’t have any reflux/heartburn symptoms or acid coming up…just the pain below. I’m going to see my primary care doctor for it next week, but was wondering if anyone had this? I’ve heard of GERD being a common post-op side effect, but this is nothing like th…

I had my surgery 12/20/20. I was doing well until I had a near fatal car accident on 8/9/21. I had a head injury and am still in a wheelchair. I regained all the weight I lost. I really need support. How can I get back on track. My surgeon does not have a support group. I am getting occupational therapy, physical Therapy and speech therapy. But since I cannot walk without support and I still cannot drive. I will begin therapy with a psychologist hopefully she can help me with depression and possibly my eating disorder. What do you recommend I do?

Anyone had issues after surgery with really hard poop? To the point it hurts to poop, like pooping razor blades and then my bottom bleeds afterwards. Bottom only bleeds after a painful bowl movement. 3 weeks post op. Any advice?

  23. Started by Donna2022,

Hi All I am 3 weeks post op and at the weekend I bent over too quick and was not aware of my posture and got a sharp pain under my left rib where my stomach is. I have had no pain since I came home from the hospital. Now it hurts in that area when I twist or bend. I would describe it as a muscle type pain/bruise pain. When I'm sat still it only hurts now and then. I've called my Doctors but cannot get an appointment for 2 weeks. Anyone else done anything similar?

  24. Started by GooseyGirl,

I’m 95% sure I want to move forward with sleeve surgery but, I’m scared. The bulk of my fear is that I’m going to do irreparable damage to my body... or that I’m going to go through all of this and nothing will change, I’ll fail and still be this heavy (or will lose very little weight). 1. Did you feel the same way? 2. Are you glad you did it? 3. Do you have any regrets? 4. What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before you had surgery?

  25. For some reason I've been craving thick cut salted potato chips. I HATED these before surgery and they would NEVER be a choice I'd want. Why then am I craving them now, a year after surgery? Before surgery I would have been craving donuts, bread, chocolate, sugar, but now all I can think about is those damn potato chips, and have even given in to the urge, just to shut it up, but it didn't stop yet. I haven't had this big of a craving since I was pregnant and just HAD to have Indian food. Does my body need the salt or something? Why am I craving a food I previously hated?

Hi All I am 13 days out from my sleeve and the heartburn is almost non-stop! I am taking Pepcid every day, but the pain comes back about an hour after taking the medication. Laying down at night feels like lava in my throat. Any one else experiencing this, and if so what are you doing for relief????

  27. Started by Nanash127,

Hello I'm new to this group. I do have a question, I'm in my one month post op and still on my pureed phase. I know others by this time are on solid food, for some reason my bariatric Dr and nutritionist have the phases this way. However, I'm finding it really difficult to find things to eat. I didn't do well with the Greek yogurt nor with the cottage cheese. I am eating pureed beans, tuna, eggs and broths. Lately I have been feeling really lightheaded, shaky, and really nauseated. Sometimes even weak! Have any of you felt this way. Is this something I should be concerned about.

  28. I’m curious about other WLS centers. My center has an online support group that meets while I’m working or on my way home. I’ve gone to it during school holidays but found they talked about breaking stalls or simple facts. I try to bring up meatier topics like feelings about food changes or non-scale victories and it’s crickets. Just wondering…Thanks

I had a small NSV today. I put on a size large t-shirt and it actually fit! This is surprising to me as I am a slow loser and thought it would take longer for this to happen! I've had other victories but this one stuck me as the shirt I tried on has been in my closet for years....and I can finally fit into it!! I can't wait until I shrink into the rest of my clothes! Many best wishes and small NSV's to you all!

Lost 80 pounds in one year (March 2) Feels great, yet feel it should’ve been a lot more Started over 300. I can easily eat 1800 calories (is this normal?!). I see people that say they can’t eat more than 600-800 and that’s definitely not me. I need tips bc I’m only halfway there!

Hi friends! So I got my sleeve done on 2/1/22 and I was discharged same night since I was able to walk and eat fine. I have been burping frequently which I know it normal, but I’m two days out and still cannot fart. I wrote my surgeon, waiting to hear back. I just wanted to know if anyone experienced something similar? Anything I can try to get myself to fart?

My gastric sleeve was done 1/22/22. I had a 10 day pre-op liquid diet which was a lot and lonely. My nurse was supposed to call and check on me about half way thru- she never did- nor did she return my voicemails. I also was in a weird schedule shift at work so I worked 8 of the 10 days- which I think was a blessing in disguise since I was busy and not focusing on what I was or wasn’t eating. Due to COVID it was a drop off pick up situation. So my mom dropped me off at 5:20 am. I was in communication with her until my nurse anesthetist came in and they put my phone in my bag. I don’t remember anything after the operating nurse coming in and putting my hair net on me a…

So first day back to work after 6 weeks off from the sleeve surgery and maybe 1/2 way through my tour I had to drive myself to the ER. Had excruciating pain on left side of my lower back to me lower stomach. I haven’t had 1 issue in last 6 weeks and I have been working out and walking 6 days a week. I even told the Surgeon on Thursday that I felt 2 more weeks would have better for me to return to work since I just started eating real solids. Anyway waiting on a few tests but everyone thinks it could be a kidney stone. So I have that going for me!!!! I’ll keep you posted!!!

  43. I had VSG on 2/22/22 and have been in the hospital 9 of those 12 days. Right after surgery I had extreme nausea/vomiting (blood), but it passed and I was able to go home on 2/24/22. Once home I started having horrible reflux and gas cramping and had a hard time getting anything down. On Monday, 2/28/22, my doc told me to go to ED for fluids since I couldn’t keep anything down. I had 5 bags of fluids before I started to pee again. Then the pain came. I could not ingest anything without extreme spasms in my stomach. Doc did a CT and showed what they think is a blood clot in my new pouch. Fast forward, I got a PICC line and TPN on Wednesday this week. Now doc is saying I’m a…

Hello all, I am new here and have surgery scheduled for 03/24. My question is this: My surgery (Band to Sleeve) is on Thursday at a surgery center. Go home that day (Lord willing) and come back the next day for a bag of fluids. So, will I be able to go sit at my desk at answer phone and such on Monday? Has anyone else done that? I am self employed and work with my (very supportive) hubby. Thank you all in advance!

So happy to report I finally got some Bowel relief. The Colace, Miralax, and fluids were definitely a factor but what really made it come along was using my squatty potty. I forgot I had one because pre surgery it wasn’t that helpful but I guess post surgery it will be now. Lol ? ? I never thought I would get so excited about a BM I was always regular. I am frustrated and confused. I am six weeks out from my surgery. I had an appointment with my surgeon today. He said my weightloss was going good and everything seemed to be going well. He then proceeded to tell me I am only supposed to be eating 3 spoonfuls of food. And that I would only ever supposed to eat up to six. I shouldn’t be eating anymore soft foods (yoghurt, pudding ect) no carbs and only ever drink water with no flavors (crystal light). This is so different than what my nutritionist has been telling me. She just said I could work up to half a cup now. She also said I should be able to get up to a cup of food later. Some carbs are good. Yoghurt is good for yo…
