I'm finally mustering up the guts to ask for help. I am 5' 2" and I had gastric sleeve at 205 lbs. My struggle with weight has been life-long. I dropped down to 155 and I was actually quite happy there, as I was down to a size 10. I consumed about 900 cal/day at that point. Everything went to hell in a handbasket when COVID hit. I truly do not mean to make excuses, because there are none, but there were situational issues. My husband was hit severely early on in the pandemic, the kids were doing remote schooling, I was out of a job, I wasn't exercising and I chose to deal with all of this by getting diet sloppy. And the weight has just been creeping up. I am now at 1…

Hi, I’ve been denied the surgery from a local doctors bc they only do laparoscopic surgery. I’ve had 4 previous abdominal surgeries ( ovarian cancer twice, vertical c section and total hysterectomy), and one laparoscopic gall bladder removal that took 5 hours. Has anyone had luck with old fashion cut open surgery? Or adhesion removal before laparoscopic? I’m 43, 5 ft 8 and 260 lbs! I’ve already had thyroid cancer and it’s removal. I’m kind of desperate here. I decided to order the meals and shakes here hoping it would help me out some. I want to lose weight I NEED to lose weight I just keep hitting a wall

I'm 3.5 years out. For such a long time I followed my Dr's rules and strived to stick with the 1,000 calories on a non-workout day and the 70g protein goal. But even with that protein goal and water I still find myself hungry and over the past year my calorie count has picked up. My Dr continues to advocate no more than 1 cup of food 3x a day with one snack of veggies. That just hasn't been sustainable for me. My weight has remained fairly steady so there haven't been any real negative impacts, but I just get so stressed when I'm not meeting the intended goals. So - where are you all at?

Reverse gastric bypass. Has anyone done it before or even thought of doing it. My surgery was December 6 2021. On January 6 was a month of my surgery. I have lost more pounds 30 pounds in total to be exact . But however I continue to be unhappy with my surgery. I was thinking of reverse gastric bypass surgery. I'm tired of not be able to enjoy foods anymore. I don't know what to eat. Everything makes me want to throw up. I feel sick and dizzy all the time and low on energy. I hate every single protein shakes the taste is gross. I'm really thinking of talking to my doctor to have reverse gastric bypass. I want my life back my normal life back. I wish everyone the best w…

I had my sleeve done in June 2020 and have lost 173lbs. I’m pretty much at my bottom now and have the loose skin around my belly, inner thighs, and arms. Just trying to get advice on the best routines to help reduce this without plastic surgery. Appreciate any advice

I’m almost 6 months out and have lost 60 pounds. I’m trying not to compare my situation to others, but I’m curious on how much some of you lost around the same timeframe. Also…my appetite is definitely increasing. I stick to about 4.5 ounces per meal, but feel like sometimes I can eat more. How much are you eating per meal? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am 6 weeks post op and I'm a bit discouraged by the amount of weight I have lost and my surgeons reactions. The first week after surgery I could not get anything but 12 oz of apple juice and water down. I experienced protein aversion and would spit out any protein drink or shake that I tried to take. To my surprise, at my 1 week visit I gained 2 pounds (I was also experiencing my first bout of constipation post op). For reference Surgery day: 317; Week 1: 319. After that I moved to the puree stage and found that I can only eat a limited amount of food varieties without feeling sick, and for the most part that will only last for a few days. The onl…

Hi. I had My revision from Lap-Band to Gastric Sleeve on Dec 29. I have to say this is not what I expected (although I don’t know what I expected). I expect some of my problems are hormones, I hope. I loved my band but then the esophagus problems started. It seems all I do all day is try to get my fluid intake. I go back to work on Jan 12th. My concerns and questions are, How did or do you handle the fluids intake and bathroom issues? At the moment again I’m just drinking (sipping) all day. I have to hold the cup or it seem I zone or distracted and won’t drink. I got dehydrated and had to go to ER for IV. I scares me know so don’t want to happen again. Then the bathroom i…

I’m currently 10 months post op. I was sleeved March 12, 2021 at 200 lbs. I’m 5’3 and weigh 149 currently. These last two months have been the slowest months for me. Like 3-5 lbs per month. I know, it’s Heart breaking ?. What I’ve realized is because I’m smaller, my body requires less calories to lose, so I googled a calorie calculator and I have to eat 680 CALORIES TO KEEP LOSING. That’s insane!! I would starve every single day and be miserable, but my goal weight is 110-120. Has anyone else gotten to my weight and dealt with the struggle of trying to continue to lose weight on such low calories? How did that work for you? I’m currently trying to substitute meals with te…

Hi, im one week post op today, and the moments of wondering wth have I done to myself and my body is getting worse daily and so worried I will never be able to live even a semi normal life again. I do have a food addiction issue, and had a hernia, fatty liver, high bp and was pre- diabetic, so knew i needed to do something drastic, but all those rational thoughts just make me think i took the lazy, easy way out and must have been out of my mind to not sort myself out and resort to something this irreversibly drastic. I know im responsible for this, but really Just wondering if anyone else has these fears and what you do to get over it…? tia

Hey there everyone. New here, but I figure you all have more wisdom than I do. I am having such a hard time! I am currently sitting in the 170's. Usually around 172-174. I am 5'5", and an athletic build. For instance, I wear a size 6 sometimes a size 4. I started out my weight loss journey at 280, but my SW was 241. I workout often, and eat around 1200 calories a day, but for some strange reason I have literally not moved in over 2 months. I forget how long now, but basically since October when I hit the 170's. Im feeling very frustrated. I don't know what to do differently. I track, I drink my water, I do weight lifting, I follow my plan that my …

So, I’m around 6' - 6'2" 289 lbs and am scheduled to get a sleeve gastrectomy next week and my parents are understandably upset at me going through with the surgery as I had an uncle pass away while getting a similar procedure. I initially didn’t want to tell them because I knew it would worry them, but now that I’ve told them, they’re worried so much more than I anticipated. They don’t think I need the surgery and despite my motivation to use this surgery as a tool to lose weight, my parents think this is an irrational decision. It's gotten to the point where they're constantly gaslighting me, asking if I'm mentally okay, if I need help, etc. I strongly believe in the n…

gosh, i don't even know hoe to begin with this. so i already wrote on here once, and things have only gotten worse. i had my surgery september 2019, i was 140 kgs at the time, and after a year i lost almost half my body weight, the lowest i was was 72 kgs. sorry European here, cant do the lbs. anyways, half a year after my surgery, i was basically starving myself, but feeling great, but at the 6 month mark i started to faint. collapsed the first time at a gathering, and then a year after the surgery, when all this started i collapsed fully again. even with collapsing my brain felt fine, active, working out, and all that. however, at the year mark something changed. i…

Hi all! I have to tell you how much I appreciate the information shared on here, food, what to expect, advice… everything. It’s very helpful. I met with my Dr first back in August (2021) completed all the paperwork and pre surgical appointments, and his office called just before Christmas to tell me that pending covid, and completion of a few final requirements, my VSG surgery will be Feb 2, 2022. I started down this path because a routine test found that my liver was excessively enlarged, enough my PCP asked me to consider the idea of WLS, because he was concerned. (He’s been my Dr for 40+ yrs and surgery as a solution is not his normal philosophy … so I paid att…

It has been 5 months and I am so surprised at what a 5 months it has been. I have learned more about my body in the last few months that I ever knew in my previous 40+ years. I have learned the best foods for me, which ones keep me satisfied longer, which ones disagree with me and the ones that hinder weight loss. I am also learning how to leave food on my plate. Some things are easier to learn (portion sizes) while others are still an issue (remembering to eat slowly). I have lost 84.6 overall….61.4 pounds since surgery…. and a combined total of 46 inches. As of today I am also officially in the overweight category. I am off my blood pressure and cholesterol medici…

So this past year has been HELL for me. Not only am I now almost done with a divorce from my middle school sweetheart xs 3 kids, because he was cheating with the 17 year old babysitter. Yep walked in and caught them in our bed. He said he loved me still not in love with me I wasn't young and pretty anymore. I also lost 2 of my beloved pups. Had to start travel nursing to make ends meet, leaving my youngest daughter with him mostly. Being a nurse during this time is trying enough. Then got caught up in the middle of a shoot out at a gas station. All this stress and I started eating bad again. Gained 40 lbs of the 110lbs lost. I absolutely hate me now. I don't even know whe…

I got the sleeve in October 2017. I was down 135 lbs and it felt great. Last April started to gain some back. I wasn’t surprised since I wasn’t being as strict as I had been. Unfortunately, it has snowballed and I have gained back 35lbs. I feel like I have totally stretched my stomach out. I need more food to feel satisfied and my sweet tooth is out of control. Is it possible I stretched my stomach so much that I feel like I didn’t even have the surgery? How can I shrink it? Can I? Help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had surgery on 11/10/20, but started my weight loss efforts on 7/5/20. If you’ve been here a while I’m sure you’ve seen me lurking about the forums. Stats: SW 339. CW: 165. I am a 5’10 woman in her 40s. I work full time and have young children. My current BMI is 23, I started off with it closer to 50. I knew it was going to take me a while to hit goal- I had 174 lbs to lose. I did all the calculators pre-op that said I would be lucky to get under 200 lbs, but I decided that just wasn’t going to apply to me (haha). My plan was to focus on fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins while ramping up exercise. I eliminated cookies, pastries, and candy but that’s …

Okay, I had my sleeve done on Wednesday the 15th and I still feel like crap. I had my pre-op tests done on the 13th (full body scan, blood test, and routing checkup with the surgeon) and went into op around 8am that Wednesday. I know the time frame is weird, but considering the fact that the surgeon does 2 to 3 bariatrics surgeries a day (popular guy), I felt pretty comfortable doing it. I wanna start off by saying, I'm quite amused at the level of "attention" and pre-reqs that is required in the U.S. It is super unnecessary, a sleeve is probably one of the easiest major surgeries that can be performed. I actually felt sad for the people that had to undergo years of testi…

Hi friends. Question for those who are farther along the journey than I am. I was just sleeved 12/9 and am in the puréed food stage. I’ve ordered a few things like soups from Bariatric Pal due to convenience and elevated protein content and it got me wondering about long term food strategies. For those that are a year or more past surgery, are you able to meet your protein goals with food items from the grocery store, or are you still supplementing with protein shakes and/or specialty bariatric products?

I am 5 weeks post op from being sleeved. I am having some mental issues about this but I am working thru them with the help of my PCP. What's really bothering me right now is my sense of smell and taste is so off and bad that any thing smells and tastes horrible I start gagging and can't get it down, except for a few cheeses and maybe a scrambled egg. Even those things are barely palatable. I went to a relatives house tonight for a party and couldn't stay in there because of the food smells. I went and sat in the car and cried. Please tell me this gets better with time. I have wanted this surgery for over a decade. I researched to where I thought i knew all the pros and…

Good morning, I had my surgery on the 28th and I was released today for protein shakes. I have the premiere protein and I was able to drink the full 11 oz. Is this bad? I thought I shouldn’t be able to do that much this early on. I had read that 4-6 oz should be the goal but I was drinking until I “felt full” since I have yet to feel this feeling.I was also told it takes most people 1-2 hours to down one of those shakes, I did mine in about 5 mins. My gastric coordinator said if I drink to much water or shake or anything that I will have a certain feeling in my chest. I think my next Shake I will just measure out 5 oz and drink that. But should I be worried that it’s too…

Hi everyone, I had surgery in October and so far I’ve lost 34lbs! I’m pretty much eating normal foods now and I’m doing well. I’ve been testing out different foods to have an idea of what my limit is. I’ve been able to eat maybe 3/4 cup of rice and I feel fine. I also tried ramen today. I ate about 3/4 cups of it plus the broth and I didn’t feel full! Is this normal? I know I shouldn’t be doing carbs this early on but I’m Hispanic and we eat everything with rice so this has been extremely hard for me. I don’t do it everyday but I get bored eating things without a bit of carbs. Does eating carbs this early on stretch out my pouch even if I don’t feel full? Do you know or a…

Hey everyone! So I am 1 week and 2 days post-op, time feels so slow and it feels like I had the surgery forever ago! This week I am in my full liquids stage and I've been having a hard time ingesting cream soups, broths, and cream of wheat. I don't eat much and let most of what I pick up with the spoon fall off and I just eat/sip what's leftover on the spoon. My stomach hurts fast and I get pains in my chest and lots of gas while trying to eat. Is this normal? It has been so hard for me to take in my 50-64 fl oz because of the same reason. Please give me advice and tell me im not crazy!

Hi all! I had a very easy time with getting approved with my insurance and meeting requirements for my sleeve. I was able to get all the requirements done in a month and I am already scheduled for 02/01/2021! I feel relieved it was so easy but as soon as I made the appointment the anxiety and reality kicked in hard. Did anyone else find themselves worrying about if they would be successful after surgery? I am also worried about pain since I have never had surgery other than my wisdom teeth (which were so painful). After failing diets my entire life I am now 130lbs overweight and I know this is the best shot I have at losing that much. I am just worried it will be lik…

Hello All, You may have heard that superpowers are all the rage these days. It seems you cannot turn a corner without running into someone bitten by a spider or someone who possesses tremendous strength when angry even if they turn green. But I have a superpower of my own. I can resist my archenemy. "Food." During my 54 years here on Earth, I have not won many battles against "Food." I know many people that can defeat the powers of "Food" easily. They can resist "Food's" charm. They can limit "Food's" evil ways. I have envied them. However, this year is different for me. I have spent the last seven days locked in a battle with my nemesis and I have em…
