and i cant wait. so the paperwork my nutritionist gave me says i can move onto soft foods on May 3rd. Such as scrambled eggs, canned chicken, tuna, crab meat, ect... I think i am going to grab a dozen quail eggs at the supermarket since those are so much smaller and can probably do 2 of those to start and see what i can handle. and gonna pick up a cluster of crab legs too. Its been a month now of liquids so i am dying for something solid lol.

Hi everyone!! I am about 6 weeks post-op. I had sleeve surgery on March 21st! I was just wondering - does anyone else find themselves steering away from meat ever since surgery? Like for me, meat is too heavy on my stomach. I’d much rather have potatoes and veggies than a piece of chicken. Is it just me? ?

I had my surgery on Tuesday 4/26. I'm in awful pain in my shoulders, neck and rib cage. How long does it take for the gas to leave your body. I'm walking a lot to help. I just can get comfortable any where. I'm not able to get up from a chair if I sit back to far. I can not lay down in bed. The pain is horrible. I knew I would hurt but I never thought I couldn't get comfortable.

Hi guys. I am exactly 3 months post op from yesterdays date and I have noticed my weight loss has come to a stop. I am curious as to wether you guys think it’s a stall or am I eating too much? I got covid 2 months post op , before that I was around 600-890 calories a day. After covid my appetite shot up and I’ve now been averaging between 950-1100 calories a day. if I go under that amount I am hungry and get really snappy. I feel so depressed when I look at other peoples calories 3 months out who average at about 800 and still “ struggle “ to eat. Because I don’t anymore and this surgery was my last option at trying to loose weight and I feel like I’ve fail…

Good Afternoon, I am a 41yr old male at 165kg at the very beginning of my journey, looking for reputable clinics in Sydney NSW to get consultations. I have researched and decided I want to get Gastric Sleeve with a minimizer ring. Does anyone have any advice for me or perhaps questions you wish you has asked your doctor before you went ahead with the surgery in the consultation phase? Also, I am curious what happens if you happen to swallow something that won't fit through the minimizer ring? If anyone has experiences they would like to share with us all (good or bad) please share. Those who have had the surgery years ago, how is it going? did yo…

I am 8 weeks post op. I was sleeved on 3/1/22 and everything has been going great until last weekend when I tripped on the stairs and sliced my big toe open. Now I’m sitting around the house with a bandaged toe and a boot for outside. I’m so bummed because I had just gotten into a good workout routine. Although I am still hitting my protein and water goals I noticed right away that I was consuming more calories. I feel bloated and just all around blah. I convinced myself yesterday that this is where my weight loss stops and I just need to find happiness in where I am at now. My starting weight was 266 and I now weigh 222.6 lbs. All in my feels today….

I know we are supposed to get 64oz or more if fluids. But I feel like I'm either drinking fluids or eating popsicles all day long. Is this normal? Am I stretching my stomach out? Seems like I'm drinking a lot of water.

Hi All! Its been a while since I posted anything or been active. I found out in November that I was pregnant. I was 8 months out of surgery when I got pregnant. My fiance and I had just gotten engaged a few months before and were planning our wedding. So it was definitely a surprise! I was really nervous about proceeding with the pregnancy. I just knew I would be ready in just one more year (I've been saying that for the last 5 years!) BUT I was pregnant now, 33, in a great relationship, with a stable income, healthier then Ive been in a while and all out of excuses not to start my family. So my journey began... I am currently 23 weeks pregnant! This is my first…

Hi there had my surgery on 4/25/2022 kind of regretting it. I wanted to ask the post OP people when were you able to realistically eat food without calculating how many cups and oz's ? Also when did you or were you able to have beer or coffee? I know they say no caffeine but that's definitely not going to happen. I just want to get a realistic stand point and when I try to research it I just see "I am not supposed to eat that".. duh I know but idc.

So I have been browsing around the bariatric pal store. Has anyone bought from here? If so, do you have recommendations of vitamins, protein powders or anything you can think of? There does seem to be alot of things out of stock. I am curious if the PatchAid patches work? Has anyone tried these and whats your thoughts on them? Also, if there is something you buy frequently and its out of stock, given the supply chain problems; does it take long before they restock? I have read reviews where the shipping is slow? But I didnt know if thats a warehouse problem or USPS problem?

Greetings all, I'm seeking some guidance. Here are my stats: Pre-op weight: 269, SW: 255.8, CW: 245.8 Sleeve date: 3/31/22 I want to make sure I am consuming the right amount of food in the right way. After surgery, the protein shakes (Fairlife & Premier) caused diarrhea so I stopped drinking the shakes. Instead, my typical day is: Yogurt 25g protein Tuna/Chicken Salad 12-15g protein Pork or chicken 12-15g protein Water or zero-calorie drink I don't consume more than 1/4 - 1/3 of a cup at a time. It takes me 2 "meals" to finish the yogurt. As you can see from my stats I'm losing very slowly; which is fine as long as I…

I am down 71 Lbs since my surgery on January 27th. Unfortunately, I am still not able to really tolerate or eat solids without experiencing pain which has limited altogether what I eat or eat at all. My doctor suggested I meet with the nutritionist, who simply suggested "smaller portions". Even though portions had never really been the issue. So now I have to have an EGD done to make sure everything looks okay. They said it could be built up scar tissue that is irritating my stomach. I have been told that it can take longer for some to heal than others but my doctor said after 3 months, I should be able to handle some sort of solid protein by now. Anyo…

Just curious if anyone who has had the sleeve if they experienced their sleeve leaking post op?? I have not had surgery yet, its next week Tues (May 3rd). I had my appt today with my surgeon and I know its just to inform me of what could happen with risks of the surgery but when she was going in to detail of the steps needed if a leak is found or happens. It made me take a step back and I said whoa! Im sure its my mind messing with me since Im only 5 days away from surgery date. But I dont recall of anyone in here mentioning having a leak. Maybe the statistics are low but it sure does make you say hmmm?

I am currently 6 weeks PO and experience left shoulder pain almost every time I eat. Sometimes it is a minor nuisance, while sometimes it is agony that has me screaming in pain. I've noticed that the bad ones happen when I have meat. It normally lasts about 20 minutes and the pains feel like intervals of spasms and nerve pain. I am aware this could have something to do with gas, nerves, and the diaphragm. Can anyone elaborate on this issue? Also how long is too long? Is there treatment?

well I started this journey with spinal stenosis, at 341 pounds, my back hurt so much, i thought i was going to have to retire, i could only walk about one hundred yards, then i hurt so bad, i would need to sit down, my feet were swelling, i was taking all kinds of medicine, now, I only take flowmax, older male guy drugs, and that's it, My arthritis is almost gone, I can walk two miles no problem, blood pressure good, feet don't hurt. now I'm down to 255, my weight loss has slowed, but now wearing XL shirts not 3 and 4 Xl, pants size 48 to size 40. if My skin was removed, I would be a 38 waist here is me now, I am full of life again

Hey, y’all! I’d been walking (more or less) 5 minutes every hour since surgery on 4/20. Yesterday I was busy with work, so I didn’t quite make it hourly. However, I did increase my time in the walks that I did take; 10 minutes up the ramp of my parking garage to the top floor (one floor up.) So today my legs feel really sore and tired. No fever, no hot spots, just aches. Taking my daily blood thinner shots on top of the movement. Should I be worried?! Would anyone recommend compression socks? Other relief? I made the stupid decision to rewatch Dr. Death this week, so now I’m super paranoid about clots and pulmonary embolisms lol

I'm now 3 weeks post op and all of my incisions have closed and look great, except one. The one across my belly button is taking FOREVER and it seems like the scab keeps getting knocked off while I sleep or while i'm doing everyday things during the day. It's not open-open, nothing is coming out of it, i'm just worried it's going to be pulled open somehow when the scab is off. Did anyone else have this issue?

PLEASE HELP WITH SUGGESTIONS! I weighed 284 at my heaviest, I got down to about 135 at my lightest. Within the past 6 months, I've gained about 25 pounds! I know I've been eating more and eating crappier so I'm not surprised. I just need to know how to lose it again. I've heard of people "resetting"? How does that work? Also, after WLS, is there even a point in doing the whole "calorie deficit" thing? Does it work? Open to ANY AND ALL suggestions. Thanks!

Hi, Brand new to the forum. After a two year journey stalled by covid, a new job and a move across the country, I finally have a surgery date and am now considering canceling. I’ve stuggled with anxiety disorder since my early 20’s - am 54 now -have done lots of therapy but the thought of panic attacks can still bring me to my knees. I take celexa daily. I’m just now-this late into all my research learning that wls can trigger more anxiety and depression. does anyone know why (beyond the obvious food mourning). am wondering if I can proceed. just started day 1 of liquid diet. thank you to anyone who responds

Hi - first time posting and new to forum. I am one week post-op for VSG. I traveled for my surgery and am back at work today. I am really struggling with food. I have mostly had broth, and a few sugar-free drink mixes. My first protein shake today. I have been struggling with explosive-run-to-the-bathroom diarrhea, not always in direct relation to food consumption. This morning I woke up and didn't make it to the bathroom before having an accident in my pants. I hadn't eaten or drank in 12 hours. This has never happened to me before and I am sortof freaking out. I am scared to upgrade my food at all and my stomach always feels on edge. Do I have to do the protien shakes?…

Hey y’all! I need some advice. I am getting the sleeve on December 6. December 30 I will fly to another state for my first semester of grad school. It’s a hybrid program, so I’ll be on campus for 9 days from 12/30-1/8 and then home again until June. I am SCARED to have surgery and then go to class so soon after. It’ll be sitting mostly and I get my own hotel room, but I don’t know what to expect. Am I crazy to try this? Any tips? For reference, I am 30 and have recovered well from surgery before. I was back at work a week after sinus surgery and able to move normally less than a week after my c-section in January. Thank you!!

Hi guys! I’m officially 6 weeks post VSG. When I started the Kaiser Program in June 2021 I was 330Lbs. I’m a female early 40’s. Surgery day 2/28 I weighed in at 290. Today I’m at 273lbs. I heard a lot about slow losers on this forum and I think I’m in that category but maybe you guys can confirm. I enter the regular food phase on Monday which is the day I go to work. I moderately workout 3 Times a week. Mostly in the pool because I have osteoarthritis in my knees that keep me from running, squatting or movement exercises. I eat no more than 700-800 calories currently. I get my protein, water, low carbs in. Make good food choices in my carbs & starc…

Hello all! I'm in the pureed phase for ten more days, and I'm curious about what everyone else is eating. I've tried the ricotta bake, and I wasn't a huge fan. I made cauliflower soup which I love but can't eat anymore this week. Ha. I've mostly just been eating yogurt, thinned-out refried beans, smoothies, and jello. I don't know if my taste buds have changed, but nothing tastes very appealing anymore. I am not eating much, but I know I'm still on track with weight loss because I'm down 16 lbs.

I feel so lost and angry yesterday I consumed 1400 calories at only 11 weeks post op gastric sleeve. 2 weeks ago I started feeling a lot more hungry so increased my calorie intake to 900-1000 because I thought if I’m hungry, then eat. when I used to diet before the surgery I was on 1500 calories so to me it’s absolutely bizzare that I’ve had 85% of my stomach removed and can still eat 1400? can anyone please give me some advice? I’m hitting my protein everyday keeping and carbs to a minimum.

Weighed myself last night after a shower. 298lb. When i started the preop diet i was at 317. Exciting. I dont weigh myself everyday. I do it like every two weeks or longer. Scales will drive people mad if they weigh themselves everyday. So far recovery has been blah... Sleeping is the hardest because i cant sleep in my own bed, Its painful and i cant get up on my own, Recliner started to hurt my back after 2 days. so been going from chair to chair couch to couch. One good thing is the hunger is pretty much gone for now. I do not feel hungry at all through out the day. I have alarms set to make sure i am getting in the protein and water but thats proven to be difficult to …

Hello. I am a 50 yr old female. I had sleeve surgery in 2017. I never lost all of what they said I would even though I did everything exactly as they said. I got discouraged and I got lax about keeping up with how much protein I ate and calorie intake ect. We moved in 2020 and now in the past two years I have gained 50lbs. Just looking for helpful advice or suggestions to get back on track. Thanks.

Me again! I am 23 days post-op. I lost 15 pounds the the first two weeks. I began my purée diet last week and since then I’ve stopped losing weight. I am dealing with horrible constipation and struggling to keep up with 64 oz of water. I’m worried that I haven’t lost any weight, in fact I gained 2 pounds. I’m starting to think this isn’t gonna work for me and I won’t lose any more weight. Has this happened to anyone?

Hi all, Really happy to have found this space. This is my first post. I have recently undergone the gastric sleeve procedure and opted to tell only my partner and my parents. I am really struggling today with how isolating that feels - to be going through such a huge life change but to not yet feel ready or able to open up to my closest friends about it. It is so lonely. It means my wonderful partner is bearing the brunt of my not so good days, for which I’m feeling very guilty. I’m also having to make excuses to wiggle out of social invitations from friends which feels uncomfortable. I really feel like having a network of people who understand what I’m going through c…

Hi all, I just had my surgery on Tuesday. Recovery is going very well for me--except that my daughter just tested positive for Covid. She's young, so she needs me to care for her. I can't quarantine her inside her bedroom. It seems pretty likely I'm going to get Covid. Anyone have this experience so soon after surgery? I'm really nervous.

Hello all. I am two weeks post op. My surgeon combines the full liquid and puree stage. He said at week 3 I can start soft foods. I love yogurt now. I found a no sugar added 25g protein yogurt. I eat half for breakfast with my meds and chewable vitamin since it had iron and iron on a stomach with no food will make you nauseated. So there's 25g of protein. I drink enough water cause I loooove water so that's not an issue. The Issue is I am not hitting the protein req. I've never liked Protein shakes, they've always tastes bad. Since the surgery though Protein shakes make me nauseated just thinking about one. I tried today to force one down. Three sips in I was o…

Today is the day. Its 5am and heading to the hospital soon. Surgery is scheduled for 9:30am. hopefully everything goes smoothly and recovery goes smoothly and i will be back home tomorrow afternoon. 14 days of preop diet. Was not as bad as it seemed. Tho there were plenty of times that hunger was intense. Funny thing is i could take my jetski to get my surgery too if i really wanted lol. Hospital is literally on the banks of the river and there is boat parking nearby. lmao if i could ride back home i so would have. I been to my doctors appointment before on my jetski. Its alot easier and more fun than driving there. See y'all tomorrow hopefully.

Hi guys. I’m debating about going to Mexico for a gastric sleeve instead of jumping through all the hoops insurance is making me go through. all though I am covered, anyone else who has this insurance blue Cross blue shield ppo choice of Illinois, can you tell me how much you paid after insurances portion? I’m worried I’ll pay more here so I’d prefer Mexico. Also it would be so much more quicker and I’m running out of patience.
