I was pretty active going to the gym 3x a week and chasing small kids but i had hysterectomy and some other pelvic organ surgical repair march 3rd and was on full exercise restriction from that, then MY VSG was may 3rd so now I’m recovering from that and overall i feel really good but i am finding myself short of breath when i do anything, i feel like my heart is beating fast. I dont know if it really is or not but it feels like it is. is this just from being down and out for so long and my body being weak? or from very restricted calories? i just want to make sure it isn’t something i should get medical attention for im getting my protein and fluids in…

I am 11 days post sleeve surgery, my family has had stomach virus, I am having diarrhea which is definitely not related to surgery(you can just tell….if you know what I mean). I am going to take anti nausea tablet and pray that I can keep it from becoming an issue with vomiting as well. I am really concerned about vomiting this soon after surgery. Any suggestions???

Hi friends! So I am starting Strattera, have yet to take a first dose(will be on 1 capsule 1x a day)...a bit apprehensive to take the first one and then go to work. Is anyone on it? Did you have side effects? If you did were you able to get past them okay? I know Strattera doesn't work for everyone, can take a while to "kick in" and is a second line drug for ADHD treatment but I really didn't want to try a stimulant first thing(concern for addiction is my big worry). I would love to hear how you do on it and any tips/tricks you have if you are either formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed ADHD. I am more the Inattentive type. I am hoping to find some help with fo…

I had VSG a few weeks ago and lost weight since then. It has been the best decision ever - the gift that keeps giving. I am so grateful Lately my husband has been giving me more physical attention wanting to be intemate. Before the surgery he would barely be intimate with me and it has been the case for a long time. We have been married for 12 years and I have put on weight over the years. I gained weight during covid and the intimacy has sort of died out over the last 3. With us not being intimate for almost a year. I noticed him take an interest in me the last week or so. I feel awful. I am still the same person only slightly lighter. Help I don't know what …

Okay so I had surgery in august 2021 and just had my iud taken out last month due to weird and irregular bleeding. My ob said if I was to fall pregnant it would be 6-9 months from now due to hormones balancing out. My period is a week late and took a pregnancy test and it’s positive .. the line is kinda faint so idk for sure but my weight also seems to have stabilized ?? I haven’t lost any weight since February im fluctuating between 180-183 weekly but that’s it. I’ve seen horror stories where people have been pregnant and their surgeon was rude about it because they weren’t a year out yet. I’m kinda afraid to tell them.. help

Wow! eating Is definitely different now. This morning I had one scrambled egg with a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese. For lunch and supper for had 3oz of tuna. (Tuna had egg, light mayo and sweet relish). I did ok with the egg but the tuna wasn't easy to eat. I had a yogurt between lunch and dinner. Im still confused on how much im supposed to eat. My book lays out meal plans. But I could barely eat 3oz of tuna. I can't imagine eating anything else with it. How long does it take you to eat 3oz of food. My book says to expect to take 30 minutes to eat. But I'm done in 10 to 15 minutes. Am I eating too fast?

Hi y'all, I'm new here. Scheduled for surgery June 24th (but I started the whole process February 2021, long story). When researching which surgery to get, I was hoping for a duodenal switch, because it is supposed to have the best long-term outcome. Unfortunately my surgeon doesn't do DS, he only will do the VSG or RNY. And even then, he'll only do the RNY if you have diabetes or GERD. With him, then, my only option is the sleeve. (I don't live in an area where I can really "shop around" for bariatric surgeons). Honestly, I'm not upset, because it does seem to be one of the least invasive procedures... our insides aren't getting rearranged, we're just getting part o…

Curious as too what everyone’s thoughts are who have been there and needed IV for dehydration after surgery. I will ask my surgeons thoughts when I go next.

Hi guys! I'm all sorts of confused... I just reached 2 weeks post-op. My surgeon cleared me to go back to the gym. Prior to the surgery, I was working out daily 7 days a week lifting weights and throwing in some random cardio for a month and a half straight. In my past, I've consistently gone to the gym for Zumba classes, but obviously through-out the years I would commit and other times I wouldn't. This has been on and off for like the past 10 years. But I was able to go today and I did the same exact weight routine prior to my surgery and I felt absolutely fine! No pain. No issues. HERE'S WHERE I'M CONFUSED! I came across this surgeon who does NOT encourage yo…

Hi! I am almost a week post op VSG and have extreme nausea! I can’t even stomach water or my Powerade zero. I have been forcing myself to drink my 2 Fairlife shakes to get my 60 grams of protein in but that’s all the intake I can tolerate. I might be able to get 20-30 ounces of other fluid down during the day. I sip slowly like I’m supposed to, sit up when I’m drinking and I’m even taking Zofran once to twice a day but it gives me a terrible headache. Did anyone else have this issue and any advice? And please tell me it goes away soon!

Hello all! I know everyone’s journey is different and we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others but I’m curious… I am 5 weeks post op. I am able to eat just about anything; chicken, fish, cheese, fruits, cooked vegetables, potato, sugar free yogurt all 3-4 ounces at a time or less. All with the okay from my doctor and nutritionist. I would have guess I should’ve been feeling more discomfort and more restrictions. Did this happen to anyone?

Hello my new friends, I have wanted to get the sleeve surgery for many years. I've just completed my 6 month supervised diet. I am scheduled for my labs and EGD very soon. Then I can get on the surgical schedule. 98% of me is jumping for joy and so eager to get started on this new journey! I am 52 years old, 5ft tall and 252#. My reasons are that I want to get healthier. I want to be able to exercise without getting so winded. I had to run to catch a plane a few weeks ago and I just couldn't keep up with my family. I want to be able to roll over in bed without it causing earthquake motion. I would love to get off of my CPAP. I have grandbabies who are 2 an…

Good Afternoon, I am new here. Today I submitted paperwork to a bariatric surgeon to discuss getting a gastric sleeve. My doctor and I met today to officially get his blessing as my current weight loss has stalled out. I just can't get over the hump. I've lost almost 40 lbs over the past year with diet and exercise but I just can't get any further. I have diabetes, knee pain, and I am not as young as I used to be. Looking forward to meeting other folks in various stages of the same journey. I'd love any tips, tricks, good vibes, etc. as I navigate this whole process.

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find what I was looking for. I've had a lap band for about 8 years I think and I was losing weight in the beginning but after multiple fertility treatments, pregnancy and other health issues, I did gain the weight back. I can't eat much since the food get stuck and I throw up a lot. So when I'm hungry, I go for food that is easy to eat and that's usually not so healthy food. I have a sleeve surgery date on May 25th and the doctor will remove the lap band. I can't wait to get rid of it!! Also the port hurts me. I have read that it's more difficult for people who have had the lap band to lose weight with …

I’ve never really had any issues in this department until today = 4 days post surgery. nothing could have prepared me for the afternoon (so far) of agony. I feel like I’m very unsuccessfully trying to pass a cricket ball. so far have taken some syrup of fig and a senokot max. On my mums advice I’m sipping hot water and macro gol. never ever have I experienced anything so uncontrollable and painful. starting to wonder if this is entirely normal. Trying to relax and think of other things. any advice welcome. I didn’t know this existed on such a scale :((

Hi everyone. Need some serious reassurance. I’ve gone through my full program. I have been approved for surgery (the sleeve). I met with my surgeon yesterday and he was very blunt. I’m one of the highest risk people he’s willing to operate on. I hit 4 out of 5 factors that put me into a high risk. BMI, prehypertension, sleep apnea, and one other I don’t remember. The only one I’m not hitting is age. I will also need to take injections for 28 days of a blood thinner because my clotting risk is so high. He seriously freaked me out. He said while he was still comfortable operating, he was not confident there would be no issues and needed me to be aware that there are i…

Hello! Thank you all for allowing me in the group? I just had a consultation and I barely qualify for the sleeve but I do! Yay! I'm 5'6 194 lbs. A few questions: I heard going out of the country is cheaper - anyone go out of the country for the surgery? Like, Mexico. I'm in Florida. How did it turn it? What's the pros and cons I should be aware of? I've heard so many horror stories ie people throwing up, not being able to ever eat "normal" again, higher risk for cancer, etc etc etc. I've been doing research but id love to hear yalls thoughts since i know you're live ppl I can actually communicate with? Thanks a bunch!

I’m a few weeks shy of being a year out from my surgery and I dealing with arthritis pain and tmj. Everything I’m reading says I can’t use voltaren cream for my arthritis. Will we ever be able to use some form of nsaids for certain medical conditions? Some things I read say some can be used some time after vsg (def not recommended within the first 30 days) but then even more studies say never again. the tmj I’m dealing with so far without medication. sorry just had a moment of blah.

Hi everyone. I was sleeved this last Thursday and I have just felt water logged. Also haven’t been able to get things moving (?.) How do you track your water? I want to make sure I’m setting up good habits. I’m struggling with the water/other approved clear liquids intake. I’m trying though. I’m not sure if I need a schedule or if I’m drinking too much at a time. (1/2 oz-1oz) I feel like it’s every 5 minutes. But then I just feel sloshy and water logged and then I’ll wait 30 minutes or so and totally do not feel like there’s room for my 1/2 a protein shake, even in 1/2 oz-1oz portions. I’m just so overwhelmed. What worked for you? I’m a mom to 3 kids, so I need all the he…

Ok I'm one post op and I just noticed one of my incisions is bleeding just a tiny little bit. It looked different from the rest. So I touched it with a tissue and there was a tiny bit of blood. Should I be concerned. I have a follow up this week on Thursday. I just didn't want to call the dr and be a worry wart.
