Well first of all your tool is still there it’s not too late. I have heard people who continue to lose up to two years post op. I would say just go back to portioning everything and counting calories and you will be back on track. You’ve got this.

Do you know why you gave up on your eating plan? Is there something happening in your life causing you undue stress. Are you grieving a loss? Do you think you might be depressed? Are you self-medicating with food? If you have access to a therapist, they can help you try to get to the root of WHY you feel the urge to eat the wrong things (or in the wrong amounts). Unfortunately, surgery helps the body lose weight but it doesn't cure the emotional issues that may have caused us to overeat in the first place.

In the meantime, I don't know what you're eating that is problematic, but maybe start by getting rid of junk food, soda, sugar, etc. Go back to Protein, veggies and fruit. Don't worry about quantity, but start by focusing on making good food choices. Once you "detox" from your problem foods, it will be much easier to figure out how you should eat going forward.

Have you contacted your bariatric team? They should be able to provide support and guidance (and maybe a referral to a therapist). Best wishes, hope you can get back on track soon. Hugs. 🤗

Stuff happens and we all spend time refocusing, congratulations you made the first step by reaching out! Then just make one more step like remembering your Water. The act of drinking water reminds me I’m taking care of myself, replenishing my emotional fuel. I agree with Jaelzion, call your team. Add one step at a time so it’s not overwhelming.

It's brilliant that you have caught this lapse before it gets too serious. You've had an amazing loss over 8 months and you need to forgive yourself for straying from the path - you are human, junk food is EVERYWHERE (especially during the holidays) but can get right back on the path this minute and use that tool you went to so much trouble to get. I would agree, back to basics might be best - Protein first, loads of veggies, carbs last. Cut out the obvious foods that are not full of nutrients but ARE full of calories and not feeding your body what it really needs. Track everything that goes into your mouth, be super honest with that so you can see it in black and white every day. Love yourself and forgive yourself - you are so worth getting back on track for.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
