Love this idea! I am one of the people who have dropped off a bit as I have been having a grand ole time.
WLS is a big big rollercoaster and not everyone has the same experience.
    BUT:
I am loving how this board educated me and helped me make the most of it. Cannot thank you guys enough.
I smashed my expected loss after gastric sleeve and have managed to keep most of that weight off.
I still cannot believe that I am this much lighter and smaller than I was 5 years ago. I love love love everything about it. It has been really hard. It's hard every day now but I still LOVE it enough to work at it.
Best of luck to everyone starting their journey. There are lots of bumps in the road xxx

So sorry you’ve been experiencing this. It makes me so angry for you that much of what you have experienced could have been prevented right from when you had your bypass surgery. Your surgeon should have gone through your medications, explained about absorption issues with a bypass so you could discuss alternative medications with your prescribing doctor. I’m also cranky it took so long for doctors to identify that malabsorption was causing your meds not to work. And I’m cranky that you’ve been unable to find support & answers from medical professionals.
I wonder if you are are now in a viscous cycle of anxiety & anxiety causing experiences. Anxiety meds are known to cause an increase in appetite & weight gain & your anxiety increases when yiu do gain weight. The anxiety causes stress responses in your body like IBS & hair loss causing more anxiety. You’re not being supported by your medical community increasing your anxiety so you need their help more but aren’t getting it making you more anxious, stressed & frustrated. Etc.,, etc.
Like @catwoman7, I too think your heart issues were more likely caused by your pre surgery status & lifestyle not the bypass.
I hope you soon find some doctors who will actually work together to support you & find solutions or ways to better manage your mental & physical health issues.
    All the best.

So sorry you went through this. Obesity is complex especially the psychological component of it. And it is something that we likely will always carry. We learn our triggers. We learn how to better manage them but that takes time.
None of us is perfect. Slip ups and back steps will happen and that’s okay. Look at what happened not as a failure & certainly not something to punish yourself for, but as a learning experience. This won’t be the only birthday party, large group gathering, event or celebration but you’ll be better able to cope the next time by trying different strategies. For example maybe a time out would help: find a quiet place away from where the food is being served and recenter yourself for as long as you need before returning. (Say you’re going to the bathroom, or you’re feeling hit, or it’s a bit noisy, …) You might find it helpful to take a friend with you to chat with & distract yourself.
If you haven’t or currently aren’t seeing a therapist, it might be helpful if you can access one (your team should be able to recommend someone who specialises disordered eating & supporting bariatric patients).
    All the best.

yep. i'm like 5'1" (shrunk from 5'2") and 105 lbs.
...and I am a size Medium in the awesome dress my DIL got for me from Japan.
...meanwhile XXS is still kinda big on me in one of my fave retail stores in my neck of the (Canadian) woods: Zara.
so yeah, don't put too much significance on the size tag of your clothes. stick to what your tape measure says!
  15. Haha
I think early on every significant change was more meaningful so I probably would have defended a label size/scale weight more than now. Now whatever size fits is the size I wear, idc if it is a Japanese XXXXXXXXXXXXXL 🤣

If I had my time again I would not reintroduce alcohol after surgery. I didn't miss it in the pre-op phase (mine was prolonged because my original surgery date got cancelled). Didn't miss it post op AT ALL. But as soon as I was permitted I restarted and honestly it has no nutritional value and has contributed to my regain since my lowest weight.
Just posted on another thread saying I avoid highly processed food and then thought - yeah you hypocrite, you have a glass of wine sitting on the table in front of you as you type that!!

It's by Recipe Tin an Australian cook Nagi with lots of great recipes @ShoppGirl . I love how you can adjust a slide to change the portions and the ingredients adjust. I used pistachios, honey, olive oil lemon rind and thyme leaves for my topping on the dip.
Even though she said using Greek feta makes the dip grainy, I think I’ll try half danish & half Greek next time to reduce the saltiness. It did go down well despite how salty it was - the crudities helped. Oh and I think adding a little more honey than you think when drizzling will also help balance the saltiness.

This won’t be an every day or even a regular occurrence so I wouldn’t beat yourself up or worry too much. It’s only for a couple of days. Once you’re home you’ll be back in your usual routine.
Certainly your smaller tummy, restriction, won’t allow you to eat large amounts which will help. As will all the additional activity you’ll do. Just make the best choices you can & that includes the portions. You have to be able to live and enjoy your life.
    Enjoy your vacation.

I think the whole point of having your surgery was to allow you to live a more 'normal' life. Your restriction shouldn't let you go too far off the rails. Of course you want to eat mindfully but I say get your protein in and then enjoy ALL the tastes after that - I suspect they'll be tiny but will mean a lot. I hope you have a fantastic time.

Meat and cheese (and veg and salad) are my staples here too when I'm out and about. Lots of good advice and suggestions here already. Salad is too fiddly to eat while driving but carrot, cucumber, celery, green or red pepper sticks might be OK, with dressing or a dip if you like? Personally not a big fan of highly processed food any more (it made me obese) so a bar would be a last resort for me. Nothing wrong with them once in a while though and can be handy if your options for protein are limited that particular day!
