Quick Food Hacks??

I'm looking for suggestions on quick staples that ya'll found work well for days when a meal prep meal may not work. Are there portable fast things like certain protein bars or snacks you would recommend? I'm not looking for shakes, but chew food. My work provides some days where I need the packaged food options but I'm also not trying to break the bank. Let me know if you've got ideas or hacks for days like this. Thanks!

Keep it simple is usually the best and cheaper route. I like a varition of snacky bits in my box.

Chicken tenders, Ham, deli meats, cheese batons, boiled eggs [ these are a bit stinky but I eat them outside ] Tuna, prawns. Milk These are my protein staples.

Chopped apple and peanut butter, grapes and cheese , pate and crackers. Peanuts/ cashew nuts/brazil nuts. Yogurt/ protein yogurt

Carrot sticks and whipped feta. Tiny salads. My go to at the moment is a bean salad, simple to make, tin of any beans, chopped onion and a stick of celery chopped and chilli in the dressing.

I still dont really eat rice, pasta, bread or potatoes so I eat full fat. In the UK our doc's are less bothered by salt than the USA and I don't have a cholesterol issue so that frees me a little.

For me, I learned to carry around Quest protein bars or sugar free jerky sticks as a way to reach my protein intake when my days get too busy or I didn't have a chance to prep a meal for the week, it's not a gran thing but I hope this info helps you out.

I’m going to presume that you have some days when you’re on the road for work & do t have access to refrigeration to keep food chilled or a microwaves to reheat meals.

For a while I didn’t have access to those things either where I worked. I had a small insulated bag that could neatly fit an ice brick in the base. I also kept a lot of single portion cooked meats in my freezer. In the morning I’d grab some chicken, a high protein yoghurt & cheese sticks & add to the insulated bag. Ready made salad bowls or bags of salad leaves are easy to pick up from a grocery store & you can simply add the chicken or have some tuna packs, tins of salmon, etc. that can be e added too fir variety. Nuts, beef jerky are also easy to have in your pantry and you just throw them in your bag in the morning. If traveling many of these things can be picked up from a grocery stores each day. If your hotel room doesn’t have a freezer section in the fridge in your room ask reception if they have a freezer & if they minded refreezing your ice brick.

I also kept a small buffet fork/spork in the insulated bag. I used it for the salads and to eat the yoghurt.

Anti pasta salad is easy and delicious.

chop up any vegetables you like add some salami and pepperoni, toss with Italian dressing and some black pepper.

Cucumber slices with smoked salmon on top is awesome and easy also.

Thanks all! Great ideas. I'm mostly having an issue on days that I'm physically driving and can't stop to prepare something. I pretty much have a "driving lunch". So I wanted to see if anyone has found economical bars or another way to supplement. I'm thinking meat and cheese will be my best option.

Meat and cheese (and veg and salad) are my staples here too when I'm out and about. Lots of good advice and suggestions here already. Salad is too fiddly to eat while driving but carrot, cucumber, celery, green or red pepper sticks might be OK, with dressing or a dip if you like? Personally not a big fan of highly processed food any more (it made me obese) so a bar would be a last resort for me. Nothing wrong with them once in a while though and can be handy if your options for protein are limited that particular day!
