Joining Weight Watchers after Gastric Sleeve surgery.

I had surgery on Nov 19th. The weight just fell off during the first 4 weeks because I wasn't hungry at all. As soon as I hit 4 weeks, my appetite and cravings came back. I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. I am tracking my food on sparkpeople and I am not eating over 1100 calories a day. I'm not exercising as much as I should and that could be part of the problem. I got a 50% offer off the monthly pass for 6 months from WW. So, I'm thinking of joining for the accountability, meetings and honestly, I'd love to attain lifetime status considering how many times in the past Ive joined WW. What do you all think?

I personally think you are spending money you don't need to spend.

Have you tried tracking your daily intake at MyFitnessPal? The app is great, every food in the world is on there and you will be able to identify if its your diet that needs tweaked, or if your body

You may find that there is too much food on WW to eat now....But to me whatever works is doable!!!!!!!!!

I just joined it yesterday, the Digital-only version. I was doing fine until COVID, then gained some weight 20+ pounds and I finally just got it off but I think the "extreme" diet I was on didn't set well with my health, so I thought I'd try something more balanced, normal, and healthy. I have my concerns/fears/doubts, but I'll give it a try. I'm still trying to navigate the whole "Personal Points" thing. I wish you great success.

I feel like we are in the same boat. I went to gastric sleeve surgery at 289 lbs I went down to 202 felt great- doctor wasn’t happy that I didn’t reach my 160 goal. Covid hit back up to 220. I will also add I fell and injured my already Osteonecrosis and osteoarthritis knees pretty bad. Both were sprained one worse than the other. So being in an immobilizer a few weeks didn’t help. I am still in PT and just joined WW.

I thin my doctor being so disappointed instead of saying it’s ok you got 80-81 lbs off just keep going. I felt scolded and a failure. I am trying to shake that mindset.

no groups in my area but on zoom at a time I am not available. So that’s another reason why I joined WW the support.

good luck every one we can do it!!

It looks like you’re doing great! It is part of my plan for continued weight loss to join WW when I get closer to goal and need more encouragement and accountability. I also plan on following my dietitian’s macros instead of WW if they don’t match up. Bravo to you for finding a sensible solution that works for you!

Hey, OP here. Congrats to everyone. I lost the majority of my weight while on WW. I rejoined again 1 week before Covid hit( March 2020). I was so stressed and depressed that I put on 10lbs. I've lost it since and even more. I started at 290, I'm now 185. I haven't reached " goal weight" since my sugery, but I'm ok with it. I'd like to lose 20 more, and I hope I do. I'm not obsessed with it. WW makes me too obsessed, counting points, worried about my next meal. Now I try to practice intuitive eating.

If you are just looking for a weekly weigh in I bet you could ask your team if you could just go into the office for that.ooh now i see your updated post and it looks like you figured it out.

I am not joining WW waist of my $. I am
an emotional eater which is never really addressed when having WLS. Overeaters anonymous is helping me change my mindset, it’s free and it’s working. You can attend on zoom and there are meetings 24/7/365. Best thing I ever did. Was sleeved in 2018. And after 4 months my hunger came back. Only list 80 lbs from the 165 my dr thought I would. So his disappointment lead to mine as well. I just joined OA and it’s not a weight loss club it deals with reasons why we eat overeat etc… free and best thing I ever done. They have group meetings for Bariatric people a few days a week but I attend a meeting every day. It’s amazing how better I feel about myself, less shame, less guilt and the scale is starting to move slowly but it is moving. In the right direction. If you feel you have mind work to do , or are an emotional eater try overeaters anonymous. It’s world wide
I think if you need a weight loss program to go to metabolic research center they have a lot of WLS clients and they are protein based program tell them your had WL surgery so they know
I personally never heard of Metabolic Research Center. Know there isn’t one of those beast me in Ohio .I found more help in OA (over waters anonymous) I am
Staying in there. It helps with the relationship with food.

Hope all are well
Merry Christmas everyone one.

I'm close to 4 weeks out and I was told by my nutritionist no more that 800 calories. I barely make that sometimes. I can't imagine 1100 calories right now. I be sick.

Way to go!!! It's totally a mind thing I wish they stressed that more. Mindful eating is a thing. I was never mindful eating I was shoving stuff in my mouth as a comfort thing. When I was on my liquid diet per-op I logged it all and started writing how I felt at each "meal". I learned so much pre-op and realized a lot of things about my horrible habits. [emoji854]

Did you meet with a nutritionist before your surgery? For me, I could not even finish a scrambled egg 4 weeks post surgery. I concentrated on trying to get my protein in. I made smoothies with Big Train protein frappe mix( it tasted like a Frappuccino). It was hard for me to consume chicken, so I ate a few bites of tuna salad or cottage cheese.
