Hello everyone, thanks in advance for your help...I'm getting sleeved on Tuesday. I'm supposed to have been on an all liquid diet for 2 weeks now...nothing but carnation instant bfast and sf popsicles. I have cheated several times, I've lost about 4 lb and am starving! I'm scared that my liver won't shrink enough and surgeon will get in there and see my liver and not do the surgery...I'm 5'4 and weigh 240....did anyone else cheat on their liquid diet and what happened come surgery day?

As I was neatening up around the kitchen and pantry today, I realized a couple of things..... We bought 2 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies from a neighbor this year. Last year,we would have bought double the amount and they would have lasted maybe 48 hours in this house before being decimated. We've now had them for over 2 weeks and still have an entire box left. I truly forget they are there, and never care to have more than one cookie as a treat once a week or so. Another - my husband's birthday was not too long ago and a friend baked an amazing homemade cake for him. Half of it went uneaten before it had to be thrown out today. Cake in the trash??!! That would hav…

All has been well. I've lost a total of 74 pounds! Woo Hoo!! I haven't really had any issues except possibly a kidney stone. It hasn't been officially diagnosed yet. Anyone else having lower back discomfort and urgency to pee? It's not a UTI...already ruled that out.

I just wanted to update everyone! This has happened so much better and faster than I (or anyone in my world) ever expected . I had my sleeve done on October 16, 2012. I was low BMI but hypothyroid so this should have taken longer but I'm so close to goal that I can taste it. I started at 194 with a goal of 115. My goal has since been revised to 120-125 as I've taken into account my short curvy body type. That said, as of this morning I weigh 134.8... I need to reach 128 to be a normal BMI and I know I'm almost there! I've posted a pic showing me today as well as my highest weight which was right before my Hypothyroidism was diagnosed (first pic) and my weight a fe…

I always liked seeing photos pre op...hell I still like to see them now. So here you go! I just under 9 months out and down 172 lbs (about 20ish pre op). I follow the 600 -800 calories/+60 protein/+64 oz fluid/-40 carbs. I haven't really exercised and maybe walk a couple of miles a week. I am overall more active and I do plan on starting regular exercise soon. I have had off plan days but I can count the number of "cheats" on both hands. I wanted to get to a normal bmi quickly and this is what has worked for me. I am a few pounds away from "normal" and want to lose about another 20. Enjoy! Before/Size 24 9 Months/Size 10

i really pondered whether to post this or not (i do not want to come across as bragging or boasting) however i wanted to share as its pretty darn kewl. this week alone, 5 people have said something to me about my weight loss (from out of the blue)...3 did not know i have had the surgery. 1. Jennifer who is our companys CFO, came up to me and said you are looking so good. 2. Darielle came up to me and said whatever you are doing, keep it going as you are looking (skinny) 3. Pat who is one of our accountants said you are looking amazing 4. Tiffany said i can really tell you are losing weight. 5. Dunkin Doughnut drive thru lady said wow, you have lost some weig…

I had 116 pounds to lose to get to the top of "normal" on BMI charts.... I've lost 82 pounds as of yesterday.... makes for 70% excess weight loss.... My surgeon says he considers anything over 50% a success....fortunately my goals are loftier... I will lose 136 pounds and then maybe an additional 10 vanity pounds...the latter may not ever happen but Im sure as heck gonna try.

I found ANOTHER support group in our area, tonight was the first time I attended this one. It was the third NEW group in a seven days. Yes, I love attending these meetings. This one was at Medical Center Plano - they meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month. It is really nice to attend these meetings, the questions and answers...and stories from all of us, all at different stages....I find it very helpful. In two weeks everyone is going to bring a 'bariatric dish' to share. I am NOT sure what the means, but I'll figure it out. I know it isn't rocket science. I know for a fact that a Texas chocolate Sheet Cake is not ok. I'll figure it out. If you …

I saw the dietitian and the doctor yesterday. Both were very pleased with my progress. I am down 15 pounds since surgery and 32 pounds overall. I am soooooo glad to be off of pureed food. I went directly from the doctor to Red Lobster where I had shrimp off of the kids menu. Because I haven't had any problems with vomiting or food making me nauseous, the dietitian broadened my parameters of allowable food at this point. I am excited to try some new things. In addition, doc said that incisions look good so I get to return to water aerobics tonight!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Hello everyone! I am 9 months out and usually try to post before and afters every month just so I can see how I'm progressing. I have to say this is the best thing I've ever done for me! I'm so blessed to not have had complications as some have and I thank the Lord everyday for this blessing.

I think I'm having an out of body experience. I know this must be true because this body looks and acts nothing like the one I've lived in for sooo many years. The back and knees I knew were so painful I couldn't walk or stand for more than 2-3 minutes. My old head sat directly on my shoulders without a neck. Now I have a real, if not swan like neck. I never had collar bones. rib bones, hip bones or those cute little shoulder bone, all of which are emerging.. My old face had no real features like chin bones ccheekbones and contours. all of which had disappeared into fat. Now Bones and contours are making an appearance. And oh, by the way, has anyone seen my cleava…

Hi all This is my first post! I am pre-op and have been diagnosed with this disorder. I am 29 years old. Any of you have/had it? And the effects it had? How long did you have to get treatment for? I have been sleeping with the CPAP machine for a week now, but it makes terrible marks on my ace around my nose. That area is so sore now! Red and a bit inflamed (seems like those zits under the skin, the red swollenness). I've always had a very sensitive skin and this doesn't surprise me, although it frustrates me immensely. As I don't know what to do a about it. I have to sleep with it for six weeks before I am allowed surgery! Any tips and advice? Do you sleep bette…

Hi all!! I'm new to this site. I was banded on 11/21/12 and have lost 45 pounds of my 110 goal. It's been amazing that I am getting compliments now and people are noticing the difference. I have been feeling the last few days that my momentum is running slow. I have a doc appt next week and I'm hoping to get another fill to make me feel fuller. Any advice to try and get the momentum back? I want to make sure I'm staying on track. Thanks!!

Today is my 7 month surgiversery! I can't believe how far I have come. I remember confessing to my husband the night before my surgery "what if this doesn't work, what if I fail?" As of today I have lost 101lb pounds. I am not at the finish line yet, but I know I will get there! I am 5'9", my start weight was 285 with a BMI of 42, I wore size 24-26 pants and 2x-3x tops. Today I weigh 184 lb, BMI 27.1, I wear size 14 pants and Large tops. I am so pleased with my progress, and I know for the first time in my life that my goals will become reality. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, work has just been crazy lately. Anyhow.... I recently came back from a business trip/vacation and I have several NSVs that I would like to share just as an encouragement to anyone still thinking about getting sleeved. Last year, I shared on here I had a couple terrible experience flying to Milwaukee and Jamaica. Just being a big guy, I was never comfortable riding a plane, asking for a seat belt extender, not being able to place the tray table down, etc. Well...that certainly has changed. A few NSVs... I was able to fit comfortably into my airplane seat. (And I noticed a difference in the people I sat by. No one …

One month since the beginning of my Pre-op diet and down 16 lbs!
-
Finally broke 200 as of this morning, havent seen this weight since my first semester of college! I was hoping to be at goal by 6 months but that is not happening unless I can get 14 lbs off in the next three weeks. I had a stall for about 3 weeks or so and then just lost about 10 lbs in the past 2 weeks. Pretty sure I can't sustain that rate of loss through the 23rd though! Anyway, I feel great, and for those of you doubting your decision to have this surgery, give it time and it will work for you!!!! I owe a lot of the inspiration to this site so thanks to everyone for being so positive and for posting progress pics!

Banded 12/21. Stepped on the scale this morning to find that pesky 1/2 lb gone so I made it to the big 50lbs lost goal. Next goal is 54lbs and that will mean I'm half way there with 54 more to go. Went from a size 20/22 pant and 3XL top and 44D bra to a comfortable 16 pant, 1X top and back to my usual 38C bra (why do they suddenly look so small? :-)) I'm a happy camper. Got the clearance this past Thursday for weight lifting and crunched so I can start to tone up those jiggly parts!

I was banded in September 2008. My starting weight was 433 lbs. Even at 5' 9", my BMI was over 60. I was wearing size 34-36 clothes, and they were tight. If I gained any more weight I would have to wear mumus! Before my decision to get the lap band, I thought I would never be able to lose the weight and I would die morbidly obese. When my sister-in-law was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I thought of her children growing up without a mom, it made me realize that my children could easily face the same fate. So I vowed to do something about it. I chose the lap band because it is reversible and adjustable. I knew that I am young enough that if a better bariatri…

I am meeting a friend for dinner this evening at macaroni Grill. If possible, I NEVER go out to eat without looking at their menu on line. I know or at least have an idea of what I will get, or my husband and I know what we'll share. I haven't been to Macaroni Grill since surgery. Almost 3 years! I am thinking either Grilled Shrimp Spiedini or the Grilled chicken Spiedini, they are 380 and 410 calories respectively. Has anybody had either of these? If so, is it good, which is best etc? High in Protein for both of them, I'd eat a few bites of veggies too. If you have a suggestion, tell me!! Thanks!

Hi All, I am gearing for my VSG on March 7th and I wanted to know if I should purchase Isopure drinks? I've heard that they can be quite nasty but I am trying to find ways to get in Protein immediately after surgery. Please share your experiences. Thank you.

Though we often get negative reaction about the route we chose to take towards a healthy long life...more often than not we forget about the positive impacts our life choices can make on others. My story is about my grandfather, a 71 year old man with an ABUNDANCE of health problems stemming from major injuries while in the Air Force accompanied by a number of co-morbidities like sleep apnea and joint pain just to name a few - who has decided to go full force to achieve gastric bypass surgery because he is so impressed with my success 8 months out. This blew my mind! I am SO happy for him and enthusiastic about helping him through every step of getting and being succ…
