In June I'll be three years post op, I am still surprised at how quickly I can drop a few pounds. I'm still below Dr. D's goal of 150, but I hoover (sp?) around 147, just a couple of pounds above MY personal goal. A few days ago I thought, I'm going to alter my calories just a little and see what happens. I almost always keep a food log, but I've been especially dedicated this week. I've gone up and down a little, which is normal for me, but this morning I got up and weighed 145.7. Whoooo whooo! I normally need 1200 - 1300 to maintain, I have been closer to eating 1300, maybe a little over, since Christmas and my weight has creeped up a few lbs, one time I was 151, and…

I had Surgery on May 17, 2012. My highest weight, about 3 months before surgery was 374. I lost 54 pounds pre- surgery. Weight on day of surgery was 320. Post op I have lost 107 pounds, for a total of 161 Pounds. I am off most of my medications and feel so much better. At my max I wore a size 32/4x. I am currently wearing size 18/2x and in some styles can almost get away with a 16. In spite of some complications which kept me feeling pretty miserable for the 1st 3 - 4 months, this is one of the best things I have ever done. I'm not sure exactly what my final goal will be, but I think I want to lose another 50 pounds. I'd like to add before. and current picture…

Hi everyone- I have my first consultation appointment in a month and I had a question for all of the post sleevers; I am one of those people who eat when something looks good even if I'm not really hungry. I also tend to eat until I'm stuffed. Of course I love my fast food too. Will getting sleeved help me to lose weight and curb my eating? Obviously no fast food, but I'm thinking that the restriction won't enable me to eat until I'm stuffed.

Went to my support meeting and it was refreshing to hear doctors support lap over sleeve and bypass even though it is less money for him and more follow up. In his experience he said since it is adjustable it will work long term . His patients are healthier and actually did not support sleeve at all. It made me feel good since I was on the fence and am not in green zone yet. Just thought since most doctors push other surgeries this was good to hear . Also he is very successful and has done a lot of wls. He said his wife has it!

I'm new to the forum here and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 10 months after surgery and truly loving life. I began my journey needing to drop 98 lbs. I am down 88 lbs post surgery, not having to do any kind of pre surgery diet, so all has been lost since May 1st 2012. I can't tell you how wonderful the experience has been. I've been very blessed in not having any complications and no problems with any foods or hunger. This has given me a real sense of FREEDOM from all things food, for the first time in my 54 years of life. As I am reaching my personal goal weight, I thank God each day and can't wait for all the future holds.

Do you think that is normal. I am in the puree stage for one more week and then I'm off to starting to eat. I have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions are welcomed.

I am so curious at the amount of restriction you all have at this point. For me it varies on what I am eating. Meat fills me up quickly. I can tolerate a whole English muffin. Certain sliders like popcorn and candy seem to not fill me up unfortunately. What are you eating? What fills you up and what slides right on through?

I have decided one of the most amusing aspects of losing a ton of weight is the ability to go incognito without even trying. Multiple times over the last 6 months, I have run into people from my past who had no idea who I was until I told them. In fact, my own aunt didn't even recognize me! Now, when this is becomes fun is when you run into someone you don't like. Today, I was at the grocery store with my boyfriend. We turned down the aisle and I immediately saw this woman from my past and went out loud "oh sh*t". My boyfriend gave me an odd look and I just shook my head. I almost turned away from the aisle to avoid her but then thought....hmmmm....I bet she wo…

I am in the process of all the things I need completed to be submitted to insurance company for approval. I had my EGD today and it revealed a hiatal hernia. The surgeon stated he could repair it when I have the VSG. Did anyone have both repaired? I am wondering what does that mean for recovery time, pain, getting back to work liquid intake.... I plan to ask him when I go for my follow up (and not under anesthesia cocktail) . So nay feed back would be greatly appreciated.
