I have lost about 75 pounds. I feel great. Went on a cruise over Christmas and even won the hairy chest contest! I would never have even entered 5 months ago.... this is me 4 months before surgery. I was about 5-10 pounds heavier at surgery......(265-270) this is me on the cruise just 2 weeks ago..... I am very pleased.....

Now. I'm 29 years old, and I don't need anyone's approval. BUT. My grandma called tody to tell me what a dangerous surgery this is (general, weightloss surgery). How selfish I am for only thinking if myself and not my 6 children. BANGHEAD. she says when I leave I ought to just "kids my kids goodbye." This woman has never had a weight problem a day in her life. Why don't you just go on a diet? You know you still have To eat healthy and exercise for life, so why don't you just eat healthy and exercise and skip the surgery? Why don't you just eat like a weightloss surgery patient? You are just going to gain the weight, Al Roker gained 40 pounds. And on and on. I …

From everything I have read... It looks like you have to go on a 2 week liquid diet prior to getting band. Why is this? I feel that would be extremely tough. Not to be snarky but I feel that if I was capable of that, I would not need the band.

We went to The Hobbit over the holidays. I had to get up in the middle to go to the bathroom and saw this chick sitting next to the friend of my granddaughter, Emily, who was visiting us. This intruder was sexy looking with high-heels, black leather jacket, tight pants, and I wondered why she was sitting right next to Emily when there was so much room elsewhere in the near empty theater. I was about to get mean when I realized.... it was my wife. I walked away with my red face. We went to an unbelieveably crowded outlet center in Orlando yesterday. A number of times I lost her and had a hard time picking her out of the crowd. She has lost over 100 pounds in a year, lo…

I just watched comedian Lisa Lampinelli on Wendy Williams' talk show and she was very funny and very honest about her VSG WLS. She explained how and why she made her choice and how she lost 102 pounds in a year. She is 52 and looks really good. My favorite quote in response to the question about what do you say to people who think WLS is the easy way out and/or cheating, "If exercising most every day and eating 4 ounces of food at my 3 of 4 meals is cheating, then I guess I'm cheating." Her husband also had the surgery and she talks a good bit about the improvement in their relationship and the whole idea that the real work is just beginning (head hunger, emotional eating…

I can remember thinking no way would I ever have to worry about that. But here I am... 7 years out and almost at goal wieght. I had my Lap Band surgery in '07. I have now lost about +/- 80 pounds. I have maintained a weight of between 158 and 170 since April of 2012 and I'm really proud of myself. I exercise at least 3 times a week. I am certainly not perfect with my eating but because my main issue was always portion control and feeling satisfied/full, the band has really changed my life. I have not had an…

I can't even imagine being that small. I am 5'6" and at my highest I was 303 I am currently 280 and surgery is in the morning. The only goal I have set is 60 lbs less by June 1st. How many calories do you eat a day for maintence?? I see a lot of people saying 1200 but thats what I eat now and I'm still trying to lose 10 pounds. I'm on my fitness pal and 1200 calories is what that tells me to eat to lose and it says like 2000 to maintain. That seems like a lot for us sleevers.

Too often we see newcomers overwhelmed by all the negative publicity and horror stories about the band. If that isn't bad enough, we all know there's a ton of downright false information flying around about it too. We've all heard it and we've all spent our fair share of time trying counter all this negativity with truth. It's unfortunate that it seems those having major problems are the always the loudest while the happy successful people sit mostly silent on the sidelines. This is a big part of the reason people assume the worst! People, are you happy with your band? Have you lost any weight? I know you're out there, so tell us about!! Really, it's ok to brag!…

I usually work from home so don't see people face to face too often. I think it has been a month since I was in, but I have lost about 10# since and more importantly I have been doing high intensity interval training. I have been doing boot camp, spinning - just stuff that really does body toning. I went in today wearing my size 10 dress and I could not help but notice what a defined waist I had! This dress is fairly conservative - long sleeves and high neckline but very modern and close fitting and short. I wore it with black tights and ankle boots. I went into my bosses office to show off as she is very supportive. I took off the long sweater and she gave me a…

I had the vertical sleeve performed by my surgeon on Monday, October 1st, 2012. That is a day that I will always remember, because I know it has changed my life. At my highest weight, or at least the highest weight that I ever saw recorded, I was a total of 413 pounds. I was losing my life because I couldn't get the weight off, no matter what I tried. I had been previously diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in my lungs, I had been treated for chronic lung issues, and then there was the issue of my immune deficiency that was causing me to spend a few days in the hospital every year with pneumonia. I literally was fading away every day. Surgery was not a popular decision. M…

I don't have my 7 week weight until Tuesday, but I am definitely losing inches. Today I went to go babysit. All my yoga pants & sweat pants were dirty. I started out a size 32. My size 30 jeans were just too big. Then I remembered that I had bought 2 pairs of size 28's online accidentally (I meant to get 30's) quite awhile back. Pre-Surgery I couldn't even pull them all the way up. So, I crossed my fingers & not only could I pull them up but could zip them up without sucking anything in! I was so excited. I still am. This totally made my week & it's only Sunday.

I'm feeling great and maintaining a good ~190lbs (I still weigh every week). My main concerns now are trying to eat healthier and not drink as much alcohol, as well as deal with situations involving group meals being awkward (work events, dates, etc.) I'll keep this short, but I just wanted to pop on this board and mention something.

On November 29th marked 2 years since I had my VSG done. How quickly time flies! I am 83lbs down from my surgery weight, and 122lbs down from my highest weight. I went from wearing a size 20/22 at my highest the wearing a size 4/6 and xs/s tops. I actually dropped a little below my goal and have been easily maintaining for the last 6 months. I was a slower loser, but I reached my goal in 18 months and couldn't be happier! I have never regretted having the surgery done and have always felt like it was the best thing that I have EVER done for myself. I feel so great and would do it again in a heartbeat!

I was feeling so good yesterday. Today someone told me how good I look BUT she thought my thighs would get smaller. I just wanted to cry! I have big thighs and bootie, no mater how much weight I loose. I think some people will never get that people are built different. Surgery doesn't change that. I just saw Jennifer Hudson in the weight watchers commercial and she is amazing with big thighs! I know in my heart it's going super great but today was a little set back. I have to get over what people say. Is anyone else dealing with a mean comment from a close friend.

I can't believe a year has passed and even better - I feel like a normal person again for the first time since I turned 30 (I'll be 42 this summer). I even had someone tell me I was getting too thin last weekend (not true- by bmi standards I'm still slightly overweight). If you're thinking about surgery and wondering if this could help you, my experience tells me yes! I wish I could have done this 10 years ago.
