I'm one of those people on these boards that gains so much from others posts, rarely posting anything of my own. I've also been swamped with work and don't come on here as much as I should. As usual, with NY resolutions, I want to be on here more often! Though it hasn't been without struggle, I am very pleased with my results thus far. I will turn 30 years on Saturday and I'm hoping to hit 70 pounds gone total on that day. Surgery was on Sept 12th. I can pretty much eat anything these days, just not even close to any amount of food I used to eat before. I am still focusing on Protein intake and also Vitamins. Excited to see my progress (and everyone else als…

I made a post earlier this week but today is officially my 2 month surgiversary. I am really ecstatic with my progress so far and wouldnt change my decision for the world. i love my sleeve and would not change it for the world! i love my portions and i love losing 3 pounds a week. i love being able to work out and last more than 30 minutes. i barely spend any money on food now and sometimes i forget that its time for my DAUGHTER to eat because i'm so not hungry or just full off a shake lol.

I KNEW hair loss was coming. I did my research, I read every post there was along with tons of research beforehand and I had prepared myself. I knew it could be little or lots, but of course, like anyone I hoped for a little. I'm young and healthy (minus the weight issue) so I hoped for the best. Had my surgery 9/4 and just as was predicted my hair loss started the first week of December. I have long blonde (fine) hair that has been my staple forever and it's falling out BADLY! I am so sick I do not know what to do. I'm getting in my vitamins, protein, biotin (which I started months before) and I'm at a loss now as to where to go. It's getting so thin I can't hide it much…

Ugh...yesterday was a really hard day for me. I used to eat when i was bored and yesterday would've been one of those days. We stayed home, not much to do...commercials on continuously for food and found myself "missing" all old junky food i used to eat. It was depressing! I know it takes time to get over my old relationship with food and I am doing that...i guess it's hard cause i'm on my 4th week of pureeds. I see the doctor on Thursday this week and am anticipating being bumped up to soft foods...hopefully that opens up a door for some different foods i can eat! Anyone else have these feelings?

Can someone enlighten me about the difference between extreme fatigue from a leak vs not getting in enough protein.

Hi guys I had my surgery on 9 Dec 2012 and recently I started noticing that I am getting some kind of allergic reaction. After I am done with my meal my face, neck, shoulders and chest start itching me and red spots would appear. I tried to monitor what kind of food is giving me this allergic reaction but I failed to point it. I never had any kind of allergy neither from food nor medicines throughout my life. I would like to hear an advice or a similar story or maybe an opinion on what to be done.

I signed up for the forum 3 years ago. It took until today that I finally got the courage to add a picture to my profile. I was afraid of being seen and "outed" I guess. My success story is that I have reached a point that I have realized there is nothing to be concerned about. If someone I know recognizes me all the better. Maybe they will approach me and we can discuss what great life choice I feel I have made for myself and I could encourage other who might choose this path to do the same. For so many years I would avoid getting in pictures over the holidays. I regret now that it is hard to find many pictures with me and my daughters during Christmas over th…

Tears rolled down my cheeks in the dressing room when I went shopping today (fist time since surgery on 10/25). After having to try on a few medium shirts because the larges were too big and having to go back for size 12 jeans because I was swimming in the 14s, I couldn't em back. The first time I thought was maybe a fluke but after buying 3 medium shirts (some larges as well) and 3 size 12 jeans I had to just soak it in and realize that I haven't been this size since jr high. In just 9 weeks I've went from 18/20 and xl/xxl shirts to 12/14 and m/l shirts. It's so strange shopping in a store and having to skip the plus sizes and know that you don't have to try to squeeze …

The past week I've been feeling really down and not feeling like I've lost any weight. I mean I see myself in the mirror every day and its just hard to see progress sometimes. So I was going through some old photos and realized I had the same outfit handy and took a picture. I made it my desktop background, too. It definitely helped in raising my spirits.

I am elated and in awe that I am at 390, while I was heavier it seemed impossible to get below 400, but I am grateful I'm below 400. My next goal is below 300, then 200, then I want to stop somewhere between 150 and 169lbs. Any hoo, on to the NSV: 1. My Christmas present was new clothes because all of my 7x, 6x, 5x shirts and 42 and 44 pants are way too big, I can now fit a 22/24 sweater comfortably and 26 jeans, before I couldn't get one leg into the avenue's largest pair of jeans a 30/32 2. I actually ran up the flight of stairs into my apartment and didn't feel like my heart was going to explode LOL 3. I jogged through the parking lot with my daughters, (because…

Had my surgery on 9/5/12, it has been a long hard month. Filled with many trips to the ER, lots of Dr. appointments, pain and highs & lows. But as of 10/5/12 I am down 50lbs. Still have a long way to go and hoping it starts getting smoother.

I went back to Minnesota for two weeks over Christmas and New Years and did good eating healthy at most meals, but why are there so many snacks! I had way too much sweets, snack foods, and alcohol, I fell of the wagon hard. I am a strong willed person though and snapped right back into VSG mode as soon as I got home Tuesday afternoon. I will say that I still used portion control and kept semi track of calories in my head and I did lose 5 lbs since leaving 2 weeks ago. Now for the fun part! All my family and friends were blown away by my success and everyone was so proud of me! We went out dancing at some of the country bars and I brought my newly learned Texas two step…

My sister and I had the sleeve the same day. It was great doing it together, however, she's at goal and I'm at a stall. I'm stuck at 75 pounds, we've lost the same amount, I had about 60 pounds more to lose than her. Now my friend is already at the 100 mark and she had hers a month after me. Ugh!! I'm busting my tail on the treadmill. I'm grateful for my loss but I have a long way to go and stalling is no fun.

I'm only one week out (today) and SHE TOOK ME OFF ALL MY DIABETES MEDS!!! This is the best NSV I have ever had. I can't even tell you how thrilled I am. She's not yet ready to say I don't have diabetes, but she said since I will be losing weight, when I come back for my next recheck in three months, she wouldn't be surprised if we could start saying that I have a history of diabetes, rather than saying I have type II diabetes! I told her, even if I never lost another pound, this surgery was worth it, just for this!

Big victory, I am under 40 BMI for the first time in probably 5 years. YAY!!!!! 22 lbs lost since surgery, 33 overall!!!!!!!!!!!

So it seems like not all surgeons do this. Why is this? Please explain! I'll be going to mx and my surgeon doesn't.

Feeling great and doing awesome. No complications. I've lost 105 lbs since January. I have 34 lbs to goal. I'm 192 today. I've gone from a 24/26 to a 15/16. 3xl shirts to L or XL. I have been getting snack happy lately so need to curb that. I've been slowly adding exercise. I'm on my way! Here's a pic of me on Xmas eve. I wore a sweater cuz I felt too exposed in just the dress. Lol! Happy new year everyone!!

I am starting to get a cold and cough. I know we should take Tylenol cold but last night I took the liquid night time one which was mint flavored and it tore up my stomach and gave me the runs. What else can I take to help me out! Stephanie

Just wanted to share a little thought. I was sleeved 9/12/12 and feeling good. I have my bad days but I can honestly say best decision ever made. I am slowly posing but that's ok, IM LOSING! The holidays I did really good only had a few bites of this and that but I did dabble in a few sweets. I am still on the losing side so no complaints. This picture was taken Christmas Day (hopefully it will post) and I felt a lot better than I did the last year. How did my fellow sleeves do this holiday season?

Good Morning and a Good New Year to ALL! I was on a few other sites this morning, and all I can say is I am SO GLAD that I no longer have to make myself promises or resolutions concerning dieting and loosing weight...EVER AGAIN! Seems that is all I read about...people making "Empty" resolutions, which I have done many times and failed at every one.... I will head to the gym when they open today, and like every New Year, the place will be packed with new people vowing to loose weight with new gym memberships.... I know firsthand the staff there have an inside joke about these people....how long will they last?? I also know they will push hard "Private One on …

Truth is I never realized how fat I was until I wasn't fat. Don't get me wrong i still got a way to go to goal. But in my eyes, I carried it well or I really wasn't that big. The truth is I was in denial big time. Truth is I threw up for the second time post sleeve (9 months post op) and I'm not sure if I should log the food I threw up.. Truth is I read a lot of post, but don't respond to a lot. I usually only post replies on updates with pictures. Truth is when a person says I lost 40 pounds and nobody says anything. It's because it prob not that noticeable. I thought it -30 was a big deal, but in all honesty looking at he pictures it wasn't all that noticeable.

Hey all! I had my surgery on 11/14/12 and hit my first stall on 12/5/12. Very disheartening. That stall broke, but I've had another one this past week. Do any of you have any advice about stalls? Any blogs or articles that I can read? I lost 25 pounds prior to surgery and have last 21 since surgery. I'm thrilled with my weight loss, but those same old defeated thoughts that I have had with every diet that I've ever been on are never far from my consciousness. The only difference this time is that I can't give up because my stomach won't let me!! Thanks in advance for any insights or help.

I had nearly 80 to lose when I started... and I'm hypothyroid so it felt unattainable considering that I NEVER lose consistently and I ALWAYS lose SLOW! But here I am... Two months out... 37 pounds down and happier with this decision than anything I've ever done since finishing college! I just wanted to come on and share my progress pics since today is my surgiversary! Here you go and if my undies offend you I'm sorry... they just show progress very well . Top row pics were taken the night before surgery - bottom row were an hour ago.

Well it would have been impossible to imagine, before my surgery, but the scale said 75 pounds are gone forever for me today! I had surgery July 4, so with the pre-op diet it has only taken 6 months to achieve this amazing goal! I am just 1 pound away from never having a 2_ _ before my weight again! Just 25 pounds to goal now and I feel absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! What a gift for the holidays and what hope I have for 2013. Merry Christmas everyone and I wish you all continued success on your journey as well!

I really started this journey 2 years ago, I set a goal that I would weigh under 200 by my 50th birthday. I weighed @265 at the time and hadn't changed that weight in years of trying. I worked hard, I ate right (I thought) and exercised as much as I could. I lost 10 lbs. I went to my Doc for help. She put me on Meridia. I lost another 20 lbs. But I never got under 200. After I came off the Meridia, I gained the weight back. Last summer when I started my Vertical Sleeve journey, I weighed 265 again. I thought I was destined to weigh that much forever. My diabetes was starting to go crazy and so was my blood pressure. Since my surgery on Sept 5th, I have lost 66 lbs and I…

Nine months out, started at BMI of 39-something, almost 40. Originally set my goal at 150, then as I rapidly lost weight, felt that 150 would be just too thin and revised my goal to 160. My surgeon's office agreed with 160 as a good goal for me. Yesterday I had my nine month checkup, and I weighed 166 on my home scale in jammies, 165 on the office scale fully clothed. I am really happy with my current weight. I do have loose skin and a small belly pooch because of it. If I had a tummy tuck, I am certain I would be at 160, but I'm not sure yet if I will take that step. If I do, it will be in a year or so. Meanwhile, I think I have lost to the point I want to be! …

I lost 2lbs on my 2 day preop and 13 since then. I am over the hill excited. I had a sleeve a year ago and only lost 12lbs in a year.i was beyond disappoiñted. It wasn't because of my diet which I followed religiously. I jad a placation over my sleeve 2 weeks ago and finally success so far. The doc felt they were not able to get a good sleeve due to scare tissue former a previous band. He also tightened up the bottom of the sleeve which I was told they usually don't. I still consider myself a sleever, because that was my primary surgery I

WoW Its been a while! I can't believe its been 4 months since my surgery! I remember when I would frequent this page I would come on twenty times a day! I would always wonder why people who are far from surgery date never long on, and BAM i did the same thing! Guess I have been busy living! If any of your remember my post ( i think you can find it in my profile?) I was about 517 lbs last january. Today I weighed myself at 385! A few weeks ago when I was at the critical 399 I nearly fainted. I never thought I would see a 3 again, now I am excited thinking about the day I see a 2! At the surgery I was at about 461 so its been a total of about 76 lbs. Every day gets easier a…

Well it has only taken 3 months longer than it should have, but I finally got my insurance switched over and called the surgeons office and was put on the schedule!!! January 28th is the day!!! I am so excited!! The office will still have to re submit all the paperwork to the new insurance after the first of the year, but unlike MVP, blue choice actually covers the sleeve so everything should be fine! It feels like a dream, I am so grateful this is finally happening, and I can't wait to change my life and join all you post op folks on the losers bench!!!!!!

Well I'm 20 wks post op and lost 100lbs, which I'm very excited I hit my first goal two weeks shy of my birthday. I still have about 60-70lbs still I want to lose, hopefully by Summer a majority of it. I was wondering with exercise if anyone has tips on fitting them in to a hectic schedule. I have four kids 2 of which are under 4yrs old and a full time job, so trying to find something that I can do at home and maybe kids can join in. Also any tips on hair loss, I know its at its worst between 3-6 months. I'm so thankful I have (well had) very thick curly hair b/c if not I would be in trouble the way it comes out and how frail it is now. Thanks for any help and info…

So I'll be 2 months out Monday. Yesterday I decided to go try on pants, didn't think I would actually buy since my "skinny" pants aren't *that* loose. Today I'm wearing a brand new pair of size 16s! The last time I was a 16 I was a sophmore in high school. I shopped in the "regular" department - I don't know the last time I even went in the regular department! I was kind of embarrassed to even be over there at first, I felt like people would see me and think "who does that fat girl think she's fooling?" I'm so excited, I think maybe there was a part of me that didn't really believe the sleeve would work, even though I've been loosing weight - somehow new pants make it…

Its been just over 1 month since I was sleeved and Im 52lbs down. My doctor cannot believe it. He told me that he has never had a patient loose so much weight so quickly. Since my wife also was sleeved, they want us to do a testiomial for his news letter and for the hosipital. I was also asked to speak to the support groups and want to hear all the low fat, health recipies i came up with. By far this was the best thing I have ever done.
