but no longer obese!!! That is a very exciting milestone for me!!!! My friend was lecturing me the other day on the dangers of getting too thin, since i still want to lose more weight, but I am quite aways from that problem. I think people are just used to seeing me huge, so getting in the range of normal looks thin. she does make a good point that i have a solid bone structure, and to not get hung up on height weight charts - or comparing myself to her skinny ass self...lol. Yeah, I still need to lose more weight to be a healthy weight but I recognize what she is saying. Anyway, just another reason I love my sleeve - to have crossed this major milestone over Than…

normally i write about alittle (silly) success story. today, i got a really good success story. last night i saw clay aiken in a christmas concert. LOVED IT the parking deck is next to the concert hall and its 5 levels. we parked on the 4th level. i am writing to let you know that i walked DOWN and after the show UP 4 flights of stairs. did you read that? me who couldnt walk 10 feet without dying and gasping for air was going down and then up stairs... yes it hurt that last little bit but i kept going. 5 months ago, there would not have been a chance in hell that i could have done that but you know what, i can now wanted to share. thanks for reading.

Hi....so I am really scared that my hair will NOT stop falling out any time soon. It has been happening since 2 months post op. I am now 4.5 months. That equals lots of hair down the drain. The only thing I want to know is at what point does it stop???? I appreciate those of you that want to give advice....but I am eating enough protein, taking vitamins and biotin, using nioxin...doing EVERYTHING that I have ever heard of to help it to stop. It is not stopping....in fact it may be getting worse. I just would like to know how much longer this will go on.....so if you can just tell me when your hair loss STOPPED....like 6 months post op? 8 months post op? Big breath.....…

A year ago, before surgery, when I traveled I took way too many clothes. I never knew what would look right on any given day so I took too many things and consequently, my luggage (and my body!) were way too heavy. And I never felt like I looked good in anything; plus I had to take shoes that I could walk in, which were always ugly. Fast forward a year...I had the surgery, lost 85 lbs, am at at goal...and just spent 10 days with carry on luggage and a pair of boots! All I took was two pair of pants, a few basic tops, 4 scarves (to change things around), a light jacket, a heavy jacket, one dress. And I was set for anything! We went from walking around Prague, Berlin a…

The title says it all - I immediately start fretting that I am not at goal so i cant do a commercial - then on to I need tooth whitening strips, to get some self tanner and some clothes that actually fit haha. I will let you guys know how it goes. My hubby will most likely be in it as well (though I have not told him yet haha) he's down 130+ lbs. since his own VSG two weeks before my own and is right at goal - waaaaay soooner than we ever expected. If we do end up doing this i will be sure to post a link. Here is my surgeon's new site: http://www.swedishweightloss.com/

Well, went in for my 6 week post op appt today. Im officially down 37.2 lbs! Down from a size 20 to a 16! My eating issues are a little better today as I've gone back to liquids and soup. Anyone else 6 weeks out? How's your progress?

we have a nice dodge durango..but for the last year or so, it was hard for me drive it....i am short so i have to scoot my seat up to the steering wheel...and my belly/girth would not let me get near the steering wheel so i had to scoot the seat back and then i couldnt reach the pedals...but i could drive it without the seat belt and so if i did drive it, it was to the walgreens near my house and it was not very often let me tell you. so today, my car that i drive to work (didnt start as hub said we need a new battery) so i had to drive the durango....i was nervous because i knew i could not wear the seat belt. i got in *prepared for the worst* and scooted the seat u…

Hey guys, I am new to this forum. But I really enjoy reading all of the information and advice. I was sleeved on Sept. 10 of this year. I am down 48 pounds and a total of 36 inches!!! I am still confused over so many things. Such as how much Protein to consume, new things to eat, etc. But my main question tonight is about hunger. I read about people who do not get hungry anymore. That is not the case with me. I still get hungry but it only takes about 4 bites to fill me up. I'm curious if anyone has had the following problem....yesterday I was hungry all day and now today, I have not been able to eat very much at all. I have been fairly satisfied all day and what I have …

This morning I realized that I am so dang close to being just overweight and not obese. My BMI stands at 30.7. I don't know why, but this has become a real thing for me, to move out of obesity - I just hate that word!!!! I still want to lose 25 ish pounds but am feeling pretty good these days. I have lost nearly 125# and am going to hit 130# lost by the end of the year. In all honesty, looking back, I think I could have even lost more in this time window, but I am content and satisfied with my progress. I took about 2 months "off" in the summer... I was sorta reaching burnout on some things. I didn't go wild, ate small portions and was still losing, but I lose bet…

And I feel absolutely amazing!!! I am down 61.6 pounds since my surgery day! Thanksgiving was not as tough as I thought. I had turkey with no skin, had a bite of a few other things and I was full and satisfied without sabotaging my eating for the day! This was the best decision I have ever made, my only regret is not doing it sooner. This not only saved my life but enhanced it in so many other ways. It is hard to describe how life changing this really is. I have a long way to go still but have had a great start! Just had to share how great I feel

I'm a very busy mommy who works 50-60 hours a week. Of course I know I've lost weight but honestly I had no idea how heavy I was before or how much I lost until I just decided to do this side by side. I don't own a scale so not sure how much I weigh right now but I was down around 50 lbs last time I checked a couple weeks ago. WOWZERS I just thank God Almighty for finding a way for me to have this surgery. So THANKFUL! Made me cry looking at myself before...that picture was taken at my sisters graduation in May 2012, had my surgery August 2012, and the after photo was taken a couple days ago November 2012.

I'm pretty glad. For me it's been relatively easy. Having a little Lean Cuisine right now (turkey dinner if you can believe it haha)- the one with the green Beans only and quite satisfied. Honestly, if you're thinking of doing it...I am 4 months out and don't feel any difference in my life. You eat less and it's much easier to do it without that hunger hormone. Period. (For me). I've had many challenges the past few months including my husband getting hit by a drunk driver (he's in tons of pain and has damage to his back and neck-- but he's alive!!). The thing is, if I hadn't done this and lost 60 lbs. so far, I never would have had the energy to get me through a…

Before surgery I think I had reached a tipping point. That is a point at which if I hadn't lost weight I would have gotten sicker and sicker and then eventually died from being overweight. I had a mild heart condition that would have gotten worse if my blood pressure would have continued to be high and a fatty liver and I couldn't walk very far without a lot of pain. And my blood sugar was a little high and I weighed 240 lbs. I think I have reached the tipping point again going back the other way. I have lost 34 lbs now (almost 15% of my body weight and about 30% of my excess weight - in about 2 months.) I have noticed that my knees don't start to hurt as fast as t…

WOW, I just came from my 1st follow up visit since I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 11-19-12. I can proudly say that im not considered morbidly obese" anymore. Im down "36lbs". I feel great and just got had my post op diet adjusted. This is the best decision I made. I actually decided to have the surgery after my wife had it in April 2012. I told her that she wasnt going to go thru this alone. Shes over 60lbs down now. I know this is a lifestyle change, but to do this with the one I love is just making us grow closer together and making the change eaiser for both of us. Im looking forward to the time that we go out to dinner and find out that 1 appetizer fills us both …

Well here is update number 2 out of HOPEFULLY 5...I am updating my experience every 20 pounds and I honestly didn't think it would be at WEEK 20 before I got to 40 pounds. Yes i am VERRRRYYY happy that that 40 pounds is long gone BUT i am creeping up on that 6 month mark. I really hope the slow down doesn't kick because I am already going very sllllooowwww, pretty much this whole time I have been. I really think that it has to do with my hormones tho (PCOS). I am working out, doing my Protein, and drinking my Water, there's not too much more I can do really-maybe up my workouts some more but that is going to be really hard for me to do.... I did have a 6 week stall that I…

111 pounds gone FOREVER! I am 10 pounds passed my original "goal"! I have NEVER felt so amazing & am so in love with the new me! HOWEVER, there is one VERY BIG problem-- I am now a SHOPAHOLIC hahaha! My hubby has decided to pull the purse strings a little tighter, because I seem to get carried away! This is coming from the girl who HATED, & I mean HATED to shop! I would get anxiety and usually cry in the dressing rooms! There was actually a few times that my husband would come into the dressing rooms to try to encourage me & keep me in good spirits- NOW, he refused to come shopping with me because I fall in love with everything I try on LOL! He says "i'm no…

I spent the last few hours putting thousands of dollars of clothes on ebay that no longer fit thanks to my sleeve!!! I just wanted to give everyone a heads up because I put a buy it now price on everything as well as a bidding so not sure how fast things will go. I'm selling 20+ pairs of silver jeans (most sizes 18 and a couple 16) also some other jeans that fit similar to silvers at the same sizes, along with a few pairs of casual khaki type pants/shorts, tons of shirts and dresses that fit xxl to xl. I'm an hourglass figure with extra minutes so the tops will be accomidating for those of you with large breasts (mine are 36ddd) and the bottoms are for those of us who don…

I don't need the site anymore, as I have had zero problems since surgery.. HOWEVER, I did promise an update or two to some folk! I was one of those who had no issues.. Was on liquid diet for only one week pre-op.. Then went to soft foods the day after surgery and normal diet, really, the week after that! I was 265 at peak.. got to 260 start of liquid diet and am 218 today.. so, 42 pounds since surgery/pre-op.. My diabetes is all gone already! Was a 224 fasting glucose and now 77. My Vitamin D deficiency- GONE.. My blood pressure at lowest level (and normal) EVER.. cholesterol all great. .WOW.... I use myfitnesspal app to track my calories. Bear in mind, I started mu…

All along my ultimate goal was to wear skinny jeans (and not look like a stuffed sausage) with a pair of tall boots. One could dream, right? Well, I bought the tall boots a few weeks ago thinking and hoping that soon I would find a pair of jeans that might just fit inside them. Tonight I decided to give it a go. I took a size 14 and a size 12 back (with the boots in hand). Size 14...way too big. Size 12...still too big! What in the world?! Who walked out with a size 10 pair of skinny jeans that look amazing in my tall boots?!? That would be MEEEE!!!! There is no food on this earth that tastes as good as this victory!!!

On the 11th of Nov, I'll be 10 months post op officially. My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit. This month, I had to work my behind off to lose 6lbs. So I'm just curious to know how much you guys lost (monthly) when you neared your surgiversary. I know everyone loses differently and there are various factors like your starting weight, current BMI etc that influences the weight loss. But I'm just trying to get a general idea of what seems to be the average for 10 months p.o.

I started this journey weighing in over 300 pounds. I have lost 110 in 5 years. I am a very slow loser. The charts say I should weigh about 40 pounds less than I do now. My surgeon is very happy with my loss and says I have exceeded what he expected I could lose. I need to lose another 20 pounds to get to my goal which I think is very reasonable considering my age... I'm not a teenager any more. The problem is with my plastic surgeon. He wants me to have a 28 BMI before doing any sugery. (I saw 2 other surgeons and they want the 28 BMI too.) That means losing 40 pounds which will be impossible. If I can lose the 20, I will have a BMI of 30. I can not imagine losing any …

I can't tell you the last time I was just overweight. This is a monumentous occassion. I think I deserve a bubble bath!!! Thanks for listening.

Just bought my first pair of boots in 20 years....never needed them when I was in Hawaii....and besides; I couldn't ever get any zipped up over my calves anyway!!! I tried lots of knee high ones on and they fit fine...even OVER my pants! Most fun I've ever had shoe shopping. Opted for these ankle high boots for now; but I may go get another pair now that I'm in Amsterdam.....SO MUCH FUN SHOPPING NOW.....I remember when shoe shopping was awful because I couldn't bend over to get the damn shoes on!!!

Like most women, I have a range of sizes taking up space in the closet. Today I started going through clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. I was amazed at how many of them fit! Some of them I am sad to say I've nearly missed out on because they are basically already too big on me. Even my smallest clothes are oh so close to being publicly wearable. I can't believe it! When I look at myself in the mirror I can't really see much of a difference, but fitting into these clothes made it real to me. I really am losing this weight! I want to jump up and down!

Just got back from Frankfurt, Germany where I had my one year check up...passed with flying colors. Sadly, the doctor who did my surgery (known as the Rock Star of Gastric Surgery in Europe) was called into surgery unexpectedly so I saw someone else. Nice guy. He was very impressed with my 83 lb loss, reaching goal, and my sonogram results. I also took a copy of my recent blood work which he really appreciated having and even kept a copy! I told him I was writing a book and he invited me to a big conference on gastric surgery being held this week (unfortunately I couldn't go). But all in all, it was a great visit. I have to say, going back into the hospital was a bit s…

I enjoyed the day, enjoyed the company, enjoyed some wine and small quantities of really great food. Upped my exercise and decreased food the days before Thanksgiving to sorta balance it all out. I theorize that is what non obese people do and dang if it didn't work! Woke up and had lost another portion of a pound.... so, I have now met my November challenged weight loss goal (although I can't find that thread!!!) the day after thanks giving. That is a scale victory that I did not expect!

Hi everyone, I'm 1 week post-op. I drink Water, Protein shakes (not much), Jello, popcicles, but I really want to eat something -- I know it has to be soft -- but I want anything other than more water and Protein Shakes. I'm depressed I think. food was a great tool for fighting depression - at least for the short term. I know today was tough because I could smell all the great food being cooked and eaten. Didn't spend it with anyone, just sat alone wondering when I could eat something... baked chicken, Pasta with meat sauce, chicken salad, something! Can anyone tell me how long it took them before they ate something? Thanks....

Yesterday I saw a group of people that I haven't seen in years. They were blown away by the weight loss but what really warmed my heart was my friend L saying that i looked 20 years younger. I have been feeling a bit discouraged about my looks, so that little comment really made me feel better! So, for those of you feeling discouraged because you aren't quite at goal (I am still 25# over my goal) - these are the little reminders of just how far we have come. Focus on that, Celebrate the successes!

I did it! Today I weighed in at 199.6. That's 118 lbs gone forever in 8 months. I love my sleeve. My goal was to hit onderland by Halloween. So I'm a little late, but better late than never. If someone had told me last thanksgiving that I would Weigh less than 200 lbs this year I would not have believed them. Next goal 189 by Christmas.

I was sleeve 10/26, have lost 15 lbs but have been at a stall for the past 2 weeks. What is going on? Is it possible that this will not work for me?? Devastating!!
