Hi there I have received an email today to say I had joined 4 years ago and asked for an update so here it is. I was banded Feb 2009 and thought it was wonderful till I had a slip in June but the band was able to be repositioned. Then the next May slipped again this time it was undone and left inside of me for 5 weeks until the Dr went back in and stitched it in this time. I am so unlucky with the band and as the French mid band is not usually stitched in and I for some reason don't make adhesions it slipped. Now it is stitched in I have not had a problem since but with a lot of hard work I have lost 30k. (66lb). I am very happy with the band but I have had to w…

Just had my quarterly visit with my PCP. My A1c is 5.8!!!! And that is with no meds compared to the 3 meds I was taking before surgery 9/20 and still not managing it well. High blood pressure is being managed with 50 mg of Toprol and 5 mg of Lisinipril. Pre surgery I was on 75 mg of Toprol and 40 mg of Lisinipril. On his scale I have lost 45 pounds since my last visit in July. I can not believe that I am saying this but I am proud of my results!!! Wish I would have known about this years ago.

Today is the 9 month anniversary of my Lap Band surgery. Since then I have lost 152 pounds. I still have considerable weight to lose but I am SO happy with my results so far. It's definitely work and I've had to change my entire lifestyle but I am happier and healthier than I have ever been in my adult life. I absolutely love my band! It's the best decision I've ever made for myself! HAPPY DANCE!!!

I have prepped and cooked what I could for this coming week, cooked 2 meals today, cleaned the house, did the laundry.... then painted my nails and am now coloring my hair. I've never gotten so much accomplished in one day!! And I even went out for a walk, 2miles! I am feeling great, noticing some changes with my clothing and feeling like I am not "stuck" being a "big girl"! It's amazing what a difference I feel when I look in the mirror.. I now wanna be "girly" where I didnt take time to before. I mean I alway wear makeup and dress well. But…

I went clothes shopping yesterday for the first time in about 10 years. It was exhausting! I tried on so many pants. I don’t know what fits anymore. I've been wearing size 40 stretch waist band for the last 6+ years. So I started at size 36, then 34, then 32(tooooo tight). So I tried on 33 and some fit me. But for the first time in about 12 years I actually bought pants that did not have an elastic band in the waist. Woo Hoo! For the first time in many years my pants aren't baggy in the butt or hips. Thank you to my little lapband friend. tmf

I run an annual conference for our customers. Due to the nature of my role, this is often the only time that I actually see them in person and sometimes an individual customer will miss a conference or two, so I only actually see them every two to three years. I am currently running our conference and have had the absolute thrill of about six of them coming up to me to congratulate me on my weight loss and ask how I have done it. One guy even asked if I was the same "Tracey" that ran the conference three years ago because he wasn't sure.

I no longer have a doubt that I will get there. I have had a couple of short (1week or less) pauses in weight loss including our week long vacation in the Dominican Republic where I ate what I wanted including dessert at lunch and dinner (no gain). I have lapsed with the exercise and know if I start back I will loose faster, but m…

I have read that this has been common for most of you as well, but when will this unsure feeling end? I keep thinking OMG, what have I done? I concentrate more on the water because I'm scared of getting dehydrated, but I still don't get 64 oz in...I'm lucky if I g…

  40. Hello Sleevers! I wanted to share my one year photos and a bit on how I doing. I was sleeved October 19th of last year. My pre surgery diet took me from 319 to 308lbs for my surgery. I am now 200.5lbs. I am eating around 1200 calories a day with a Protein goal of 100 grams and under 80g of carbs. I am quite active now and walk between 2 and 5km a day as well I play squash three times a week. Now that winter is here, I will get back to doing weight training and will be snowshoeing too! It has definitely been a tough year learning how to manage my life without using food as a crutch. I have recieved help from a therapist and am usually have a book on the go abou…

Dr. Aceves did my sleeve and from there I lost a total of 105 pounds and have kept it off. I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful Dr. Aceves and his entire staff are. They are magnificent, caring, compassionate, kind, and the hospital is the very best you could ever want to have surgery in. They clean 24-7 at this hospital. When I was there they cleaned my room 3 times a day. I also saw 2 doctors at least 2 times a day while I was there. In my book I feel Dr. Aceves is the finest Weight Loss Surgeon there is out there. My starting weight was 435lbs and I am now 197lbs, a total of 238lbs lost! A couple months ago I got a phone call from a local magazine, they were putting out a men's health issue and had heard about me and wanted an interview. I went to the interview, but I tend to get flustered and start to back track, fast forward, and jumble a lot. Well, 6 months out from my surgery and I am finally at the 60 lb point. In the first month the weight fell off. Then through a combo of a month long cross country trip, sick family, moving and starting grad school it slowed. Cortizol has always had great effect on my weight loss. I eat a high Protein diet with no simple carbs (okay well very rarely), haven't had a soda in over 6 months or a cigarette in a year. I am at the point where I can eat a little more, but that actually jump started my weight loss again. As frustrating as it has been watching some of my cohorts so far ahead of me, I just keep going. Here is the deal: my health has improved significantly, and even…

Onederland!! For the first time in over ten years.....I am under 200!! It feels amazing!! Its been 8 weeks since surgery. I have lost a total of 40 pounds! If you wouldve asked me 4 weeks ago if it was worth going through the surgery...i wouldve said hell no. I had an issue where they thought my sleeve was too small. I couldnt hold anything down. They wanted to go in and "balloon" my stomach in order to stretch it. I decided not to do that and pushed through it. Im so glad i did. Eating is much easier and im losing the weight despite a 3 week stall! I just have to keep reminding myself that IT DOES GET EASIER. Just like veterean sleevers said it would. Pics to come later!

Sleeve surgery on 10/11/12- released on Friday (a day early). The 50 minute car ride home from hospital was torture! By the time I got in my house I was hysterically crying-so much pain! I'm wondering how people travel home from another country no less right after this surgery! I also had hiatal hernia repaired -maybe that accounts for some extra pain/gass but seriously, if I had to go to an airport, train or whatever to get home, I wouldn't have made it! Also, complications post-op... who do you see? I can't imagine another Bariatric surgeon wanting to take over 'after' the fact when there could be surgery related complications! Very intrigued!
