I had promised myself i would be 50 lbs lighter by my birthday. Today 13 days before my birthday i hit that mark. I also by doing that also hit the less then 100 lbs to lose. I am so excited. I have went from 24/26 pants down to a size 20/18. I can actually buy shirts in the reg department of the store instead of in the Plus size. I can wear x-large shirts. I am so excited i had to do a shout out about it. I feel great and i love my band!!!

Hey there.. So I was sleeved on 4/27/12- starting weight was 245, today I am at 179 which is a loss of 66 LBS I am beyond excited!!! i gotta say the only struggle at this point in the game is mentally being able to continue making those good decisions. I am starting to crave sweets and so far since surgery i have been doing great but its becoming a bit more difficult!! But i still have faith and strength to continue to be successfull!!! The photo to the left is taken the day of surgery ( no make up or anything on) and the picture to the right was taken on sunday (at my 6th month mark) GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!! IT's been an amazing journey this far!

Let me preface this by saying that I have 1 true friend that has been there for me right or wrong & through thick an thin. The people I am talking about here are our more casual "friends". I am finding that since my lifestyle has changed so dramatically that the people I use to hang out with aren't so appealing anymore. I am not interested in being one of the first people to review the new resturant. And when I talk about wanting to go rock climbing they look at me like I have 2 heads. Finding new friends that have similar interests is my newest venture. I'm not trying to get rid of my old friends, but, let's be honest. I really don't have much in common …

who have you guys used and been happy with or have a consult with and then decided you didn't care for.... I keep thinking doctor Kim is 1 of the better surgeons but I have gone to his office 4 * and had four bad experiences and I really do not think I want to use him. might be a good surgeon but I want to make sure I have a good overall comprehensive care package and I don't care for any 1 in his office I always feel rushed and like they don't have time to inform or educate me.... I have a consult with Nicholson in Dallas on Monday..... I know there are lots of good doctors out there I really want a team that will really help me through this after the surgery, I just kno…

Yesterday I got tired of my super baggy pants...and since I wasn't sure of what size to get I went to Walmart (thought since sizes change so fast I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes). I was so surprised that the size 18W slid right on--no "sucking" in or dancing around to get them zipped...I was amazed because pre-banding I was wearing a size 28W...never thought I would be able to wear a smaller size again. I tried to explain this feat to my husband but he just didn't get it. I am excited and needed to share my excitement with people who will understand and join me in this simple celebration!!!

I have been trying to limit my scale time to once a week but today I just couldnt help myself and jumped on, and realized I am down to 128 kilos, that being 281 lbs. I cant remember being that low on the scale. I started on aug 6th at 163 kilos=358 lbs so Im down 77 lbs and my goal is 86 kilos= 190lbs. While its not exactly half way I cant express how flipping happy I am. I would have never dreamed when I started my liquid diet that I would ever get to this point. I really cant get the full effect of how much weight that is until I realised that is about what my 10year old daughter weighs. I lost a small person.

I hope the moderators do not mind me posting this because it is a link to a blog on another forum about weight loss surgery--but I don't care if I get in trouble for it. The sheer hope and amazing story that I am going to show you is worth the risk. I am soooo inspired by this lady you have no idea. She makes me so hopeful. There are so few long term VSG post ops out there that seeing this just makes me realize that regain does NOT have to happen--we don't have to gain back half of our weight---or all of it. Or any of it! We can be successful! You will NOT regret reading this! http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/sunnygirlms/blog/2011/10/18/hard-to-believe---7-years/ E…

Hello fellow sleevers, just wanted to share that today is my one year anniversary! I can't believe it. I feel great and so much lighter. My weight a week before survey was 269 and today it is 169. I haven't reached my goal weight loss but this is still amazing to me. Super excited and grateful for my decision to get sleeved.

Weighed in at 197 this morning! I'm one week shy of my three month mark and I feel great! Some progress... I actually don't know my starting pant size because I wore sweats the final year before getting sleeved, I didn't wear jeans for probably the better part of two years because I was so ashamed! But the biggest pair I have in my possession is a stretchy pair of 18 pants, but I was at least a 20 Now I'm wearing a size 16 comfortably, with room to spare Again, with shirts the highest I have is XXL because for the last year up until surgery I wore oversized tee shirts and huge hoodies Now I'm wearing between a XL/L, depending on what brand it is It makes me sad to r…

I just thought I would pop on here and give you guys an update. I know that a lot of people stop posting once they reach goal or get about a year out, etc. but newbies and others what to know how it is to be sleeved this far out and what is going on at that point, so I thought I would continue to post monthly at least. I started out at 234 in August of 2011. Its been 14 months today and I am under my goal by 2 pounds. I have lost 101 pounds so far. I had been maintaining for five weeks but dropped another two pounds this weekend. I am going to have plastic surgery in 6 short weeks- so excited. I am having my arms done, my thighs done and a lower body lift that inclu…

I went out to Wally's World (walmart) and got a new bra. I didn't want to pay a lot of money for it especially since I expect I'll need a new size soon. So, I purchased a 38B and it has a small band made of lace, maybe 1 inch in width. So anyway I am wearing the new bra and have it attached to the second or middle row (NSV 1) and it's lying flat against my back(NSV 2). It hasn't rolled into any creases or it isn't digging into my back, it's just lying flat. My back fat rolls are GONE!!!! All of my other bras have wide 2 1/2 inch or wider bands to cover fat rolls. This is awesome because I am always conscious of how my shirts look from the back. I have broad sho…

Well, I had to take a business trip back in August and I posted about being disappointed that I still needed the seatbelt extender. At that point, I was down 42 lbs but still needed the extender although it was very close. I am flying again on 10/28 and at this point am down another 18 lbs for a total of 60 lbs. Woot! Woot! . Maybe this is it! Maybe I won't need the extender this time. We shall see. I will let you know.

Hi... i know this has possibly already been covered... but i suppose this is my story... I had lapband surgery in July 2007.... lost 20 kg... and my band erroded on 12 months resulting in m having it removed in July 2008.... Now 12 months on and having kept my weioght off for 9 months... and now having had a weight gain of 8 kg... approx 16 lb in the last three... it is time for me to rethink my surgical options... I alternate between rebanding or sleeve.... my against banding is that it may erode as quickly again... My against sleeve is that there is metal staples .... I would be interested in others thoughts and stories as to what decisions they made....and wou…

This is just a quick update to let ya all know I'm still doing great, haven't been on much cause I've been living and loving life, and trying to start my own business(if you know any small businesses that need mobile marketing send them my way). My highest weight was 699, in 2011. I lost 60, but for the next near kept going from 650 to 670 & back again. When i started my journey to surgery in May i was 670. From memorial day to July 2, i lost 20 pounds. I'm now 3 months out and almost at 100 since surgery. Currently I'm 560. I feel a lot better, starting to go through clothes faster and being a lot more active. I can go to the zoo and not get tired and it only t…

It's not goal, but I the changes between that girl in pink and the me I am today Is amazing!!! 45 pounds doesn't just feel like 45 pounds it feels like things lifted off of me, feels like coming out of the fog of depression and anxiety. 45 pounds feels like self discovery. 45 pounds doesn't feel like embarrassment to walk into a room of strangers. 45 pounds feels like self love. I am so worth 90 more!! I'm ready to kick some serious butt! I'm never ever going back to that 270lb girl!

I just have to shout to the world "I can wear a size 8.....SIZE E-I-G-H-T......jeans now!!!" This is sooooo exciting for me especially after a VERY hard year of losing my momma/best friend/mentor. She would be Sooo proud of me and I am so happy at this moment. For anyone out there who is just starting their journey -- YOU CAN DO IT. I was sleeved 8 mths ago, on 2-13-12, and have lost 75# since surgery date. More if u count the months leading up to it. And lots of inches. So from a women's size 22/24 movin on down step by step until today's unbelievable moment of standing in that dressing room asking myself "What are u doing trying on a size 8 jeans crazy woman??…

HI guys, so I went ahead and got a super awesome pair of size 8 jeans as inspiration. They came in the mail today and they look soo small! Has anybody made it to an eight? Or am I just setting myself up for failure? I am scheduled to be banded next month. I know I will have to work super hard, the band is not a magic pill, it is a tool, It is more important to focus on my health, know I know I swear, but is an eight on the table? I am currently an 18 or 20 in jeans. I haven't worn an eight since my air force days about fifteen years and two c sections ago.

I'm 3 pounds away from hitting my first 50 pound loss! This is calculating from my highest weight about 6 months ago. Anyhoo, I'm trying to think of ways to reward myself for big milestones. FYI...I do NOT like massages. That's always the first suggestion. Lol! What have you all done or what would you like?

I officially weigh 135.0. That was my goal when I started this just over 14 months ago. It is just unreal I cannot believe I am here. I have lost 141 pounds and am in size 4 or 6 pants. I just want everyone to know - I am no one special - I have been horrible about exercise, continued to drink alcohol, to cheat on slider foods sometimes, the list goes on and on. BUT, i went to every single dr. appt and got all my fills - got good tight restriction about 6 months in (yes it is all will power before you hit restriction which can take several months) and stick to my surgeon recommended 800-900 calories per day about 80% or 85% of the time. I love this site and will con…

Hi everyone! I have been trying to do my research about the lap band to see if it is for me. I need to loose at least 60-70 pounds and have truly exhausted my resources. I have been on birth control (implant) for about 4 and a half years and have gained a HUGE amount of weight. About 3 years ago I joined the army and they said I was overweight when I was 135 pounds (I am 5'1) and when I was exercising everyday nonstop for 3 and a half months I was still 135 but SOLID muscle. I did not slim at all because of the diet I was on. So when I came home I was still working out 3 times a week and now work out at least 2 times due to the busy schedule I have. I don't eat awful or…

This year has been the best of my life: last November I was obese, I had VSG with Dr. Kelly and after a few stalls, the weight starting melting off with the help of personal training and watching the content of my food! The love of my life proposed to me, and we got married in what was absolutely my dream wedding. I am more impressed with the man I married every day, and more in love and happy. I am now at a BMI of 20 and I am actually modeling for fitness oriented shoots (I am on the muscular side now, holy moly!). The unexpected experience I've felt creep over me in the past couple months: depression, a sense of lack of joy, a sense of something "missing". It's tak…

I never would have imagined wanting to wear make up -- lots of it. And learning application techniques. And Having a skin care regimen and following it for more than a day. Now that I'm no longer hung up on my "disgusting body" as I felt it was before, I'm beginning to take so much more pride in my appearance. I was surprised by how much I enjoy spending that extra time on myself since pre-op I couldn't have been bothered with washing my face more than once a day and just patting some powder on my skin. I feel like I want to take so much better care of myself now and in turn with that, the more I do take care of my outside, the better I feel about myself (on top of pr…

Well, I suppose it's a good place to be... buying all new clothes! But it's expensive! I work in a professional setting and am in senior management, so I need to dress up a little. I had to buy all new spring/summer clothes, bought just enough for a week. Now I am buying all new fall/winter clothes, just enough for a week. I have a few pounds left to lose, so I bet I have to buy all new spring/summer again next year! In spite of going broke, I'm having the time of my life! I can't believe I'm not shopping in the Plus Size section at retail stores or shopping Plus Size sites online!! I usually have no idea what size I wear, so I throw 3 sizes of whatever in my bag…

So I have been a little bit down the last couple of days due to a stall that I am in. I know that it will break and I will continue to lose but it is hard when you are in one(those who have been there can sympathize). Anyway having lost 30 pounds my clothes are getting big so I went out today and bought a few more items that fit(size 14 pants if you can imagine). So when I came home I had a few pairs of pants in my closet that I have been waiting to get into. Well guess what they ALL fit, and one pair is already a little big!! I am so thrilled!! Everybody talks about losing inches and they are right! I exercise everyday too and I am sure that has helped. To all my sleeve…

Was released from hospital a day early. I have not sleep more than 2 hours at a time since Wed. 10/10. So much gas pain-shoulders, back & even my neck, at times. I'm walking and being a little active at least every 90 minutes for a half hour. Last night I finally stopped taking prescribed pain meds. realizing they were making me hyper (Percocette), switched to Tylnol fast release which seemed to help more than the Perc. lus I finally slept most of the night. My worst pain besides gass, is my right side! I've noticed most people are saying their left sides hurt. Weird! Every protein bev. I've tried since surgery tastes gross- Vanilla shake w/water-tolerable, but yucky.…

I swallowed a whole multivitamin today which I normally don't do and I've been feeling really sick all day. Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone before? Please help!

I can finally tolerate yogurt! I tried the Yoplait 100 calorie Greek Yogurt and I didn't have to get on the BM train to Crapsville!!!! This is an awesome day! Just because you get severe lactose intolerance after surgery doesn't mean you will have it forever ...your new tummy may decide to start making lactase again!!!! Mine did!

How do you feel about getting hit on after surgery? I'm not talking about people we're meeting for the first time. But people we've known and have had friendships or some kind of relationship with whether it be work or personal or whatever. The people that we are meeting for the first time didnt know us before so what's not to say that they wouldn't have been hitting on us before. But someone we've known, all of a sudden you wanna take me out? 90 pounds ago I wasn't good enough to take out? I'm not sure how I feel about this. My personality is the same at a size 16 as it was when I was a size 24. Has anyone else encountered this? How do you feel about it and h…

Hi all. I live in California, but I've been born in Spain, and I decided to have my surgery there, in Madrid. I was banded last weds, I spent the night at the hospital. I was not allowed to eat o drink anything until next day at 8am where I was offered a hot tea. I have not felt any pain at all, so I decided not to take any of the painkillers. I went to the movies yesterday and I can say that today I feel much closer to any other normal day, maybe a little tired. it's too early to say but I feel like I took theright decision.
