Hello sleevers, I just wanted to check in with everyone who is one week out from surgery. Today is my one week and I am amazed to tell you I have lost 20 lbs.! Wow! This is the BEST decision I have ever made. Yesterday, as I was finishing the last day of my clear liquid diet post-op, I found myself wondering how my new tummy and reformed digestive system would react to the denser food I started today. Well I got my answer this morning about 15 minutes after breakfast! No worries, this is nothing and definitely won't slow me down. Part of my "rehab" from obesity has been to create a Pinterest board. It's an ongoing project, but is full of information, inspiratio…

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if any of you ever had to be rebanded. I lost 48 of the 75 lbs that I wanted to lose before going astray. My band and I stopped working for one another and I do believe that it was due to my own doing. I have fluid taken out of my band at this time, but I'm hoping that being re-positioned or rebanded could put me back on track. My Doc is talking sleeve but I don't want to be cut. I'm hoping that any of you that have had success ever had to be rebanded that helped with your success.

My 1st goal was to be under 200 and twice this week I've been 200.4...lol. Seriously, I just want to see the hundreds again. It's been too long. Anyways, I am really happy with my weight loss so far. I think it would be even better if I could eat, but ever since I was sick in October I've barely been able to eat anything. Never thought I'd have that problem! My surgeon is trying to find out why I can't hold as much as I could in the beginning, but I think my tummy shrank while I was ill bc I just couldn't eat for being nauseous for at least two weeks. Hope everyone else is doing well. Have a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!

I don't get hung up on the scale moving because if I follow everything I'm told I know I will be successful! As the say, life ain't a track meet its a marathon! With that said, don't freak out if your not losing! I have not lost a pound in 5 days and I am 15 days post-op. BUT I'm not at all worried about it because I fit into a jacket yesterday that I couldn't wear last week. Where the inches are going without the pounds dropping is a mystery to me! But I'm super happy because regardless of what the scale says the only thing that matters is I am getting smaller!!!!!!

My weight loss really slowed down in September, but picked up this month. I dropped five pounds in the past week! For those of you slowing down or on a plateau, it does pick up. I found that getting in my walks and doing some bike riding (and not really that intense) really helped get the pounds moving again. I'm feeling great and enjoying life so much more. To all the newbies and pre-op folks: it's not all Love and Light all the time, but, for me, it's been worth the journey. Much success and happiness to you!

It's me! I have found myself doing all sorts of health&beauty things since I had my surgery. I'm a 26 year old guy that in the last week has gone to the spa for manicure, pedicure, facial, and massage. I bought all sorts of fancy face scrubs. I had a lady friend fix my straggly eye brows. Spent a ton of money on a fancy electric tooth brush and whitening things. And go to the gym every day. What the heck happened to me!?!?!? I guess I'm feeling better and way more confident and decided I need all of this??? I never would have done all this pre op lol! I can't help but to laugh at myself.

Despite my weight fluctuations, I've basically been wearing the same size 26 dress pants for work, for years. They have been getting way too baggy to the point where people have been telling me to get new pants! Went to get a couple pairs today, and I fit comfortably in a size 22! I was feeling a bit of sticker shock and realize I'm going to need to begin shopping consignment stores during this weight loss journey. Size 22 and going down!

My weight loss has been slow for the past four months or so - it's still coming off but a couple pounds per month. Things must be tightening up a little because clothes seem to fit differently even though there aren't crazy lbs dropping off. The latest... I bought skinny jeans! I came out this morning in my new jeans and a little striped top and my mom said I made her think of an Audrey Hepburn movie where she wore black pegged pants and a striped top. I know the reference because images from that movie were used in Gap ads a few years back and I'm *hardly* that thin but feels pretty good! I feel "normal" sized for the first time since I was a small child. Even that f…

Hello all, It's now five years since I had my lap band. Seems strange to think it's that long. It's true to say it's been a great move and one that changed my life. I've maintained my weight loss because of a changed lifestyle. Gone are the days of failure to understand my own body. Exercise and good eating are just parts of my natural day. It wasn't always like that. So to all of you perhaps just setting out on your lapband journey, good luck and best wishes. The effort and work is worth it, not just for you but your loved ones too. KIng regards, Steve

Hey All, I've recently come over here from SleeveTalk because I'm thinking maybe the Lap-band is a better choice for me. I need to lose 50-60lbs max and like the idea that if something goes wrong or I just don't tolerate the band for any reason, it can be removed. Whereas if I had Sleeve or Plication, it's basically irreversible. Anyhoo, I'm hoping some of you will respond with some answers to my various questions/concerns. 1) Does your port show thru your skin a lot? 2) Does it hurt to get the fills? 3) Do you feel the band will continue to give you restriction for life as long as you eat healthy & exercise and get your fills? 4) How many fills do you…

  22. January 11th will be my 1 year anniversary. Two weeks before that, on the 28th, I started my liquid diet in preparation for surgery. I took a day off for New Year's as I do a prime rib roast every year, but I think I lost 16 pounds in that week. I am so thankful for the gift I have been given. I was 5'1", 246 pounds with a BMI creeping towards 50. I wore a tight size 22 and 2x tops. I was just diagnosed as diabetic, had high blood pressure and sleep apnea so bad that I actually stopped breathing 6 times a minute. Yes, a gasp every 10 seconds. I was so depressed I played the sick card every time a social situation came up. Actually I was starting to feel really horribly …

My beloved daughter, who lives with me, is proud of her mother's and my weight loss. Her mother had Roux N Y and is 2 pounds from goal and so am I. My daughter has had weight struggles for years. I told her the operations were just tools, the reduction in eating is what took the weight off. If she just eats the same thing her mother and I eat she would get the same results. She sees that as a road to insanity. The elephant in the room is named hunger. It resides in the brain emotionally and in the stomach physically. I am a stubborn and strong-willed man. I could not conquer it before the sleeve. I can think of no other system that constantly monitors your intake like …

So as of this morning I have lost 100 pounds! According to MFP anyways. When I started my journey I promised myself that when I lost 100 pounds I would dig out my old photos and finally look at them. I did this today and I have to say all I did was cry...how could I have ever let myself get so big? I looked awful. None the less I had to look at the pictures to remind myself why I had surgery and why I can NEVER go back. So am I the only one who weeps at old photos of themselves or am I not alone. Thanks for reading...I just had to get my feelings out to folks who would understand...as my.family really doesnt

As of yesterday I lost 210 lbs... half my body weight. People are starting to ask me if I'm at goal. I'm wearing clothing that can best be described as average sized. Nothing bigger than a large and mostly medium with size 36 or 38 pants. I'm now just 9 lbs from my first major goal, 10 pounds from onderland, and 29 lbs from my stretch goal of 180. I'm really charged up about the prospects for the new year. Oh what a wonderful feeling to have the seat belt fit on an airplane. One of the best NSVs yet. Every day is better and this life change is my best Christmas present, thanksgiving wish, and birthday gift combined.

  39. So I decided today to get a fill today found out I'm 190 total weight loss 73lbs. I started at 263 my surgery was 4/25/12. The doctor's goal for me is 144 so that's 46 lbs to go. I kinda want to stop anywhere from135-140. I jus want yo be as far away from 200 as possible while still looking good. Everybody that sees me thinks I've hit goal already. I'm enjoying every compliment. I still don't feel small I can only tell how my clothes fit. 44. Well, I have been gone for a while from here, but it's time to come back. I was banded a year ago in November and did not meet my one year goal. I am happy with the success I had, 50 lbs. lost in one year, but I could have done better. I was trying for 80, but the last several months were difficult and I "fell off" the wagon. I became very stressed at work and depressed at home. Two of my reasons for overeating. I have been doing all of the wrong things....not measuring, not getting in my water, not exercising, snacking at night, and drinking wine!!! So, yes I know exactly why I didn't reach my goal, I just stopped caring for a while I think. I have gotten fills,…

To combat the clothing dilemma, I've spent a few days on youtube and taught myself how to sew. I've taken in and shortened a ton of my old clothes to extend the life of my fat stuff and now my medium-fat stuff. I had a stark discussion with the Mrs. when I made a reference to my "sewing pile" the other day and how much time I am spending at the machine. Mind you, the Mrs. had a raised eyebrow at first, but has fully embraced it now that I've altered a number of her clothes as well. Had I know how fun (and easy) this was, I would have made a different career choice years ago.
