recently, i have been able to wear (pants) comfortably again as i am down 8 sizes down since june before they were so tight that if i ate or drank i felt as though my circulation would be cut off.. so today i am wearing a pair of gray cords and i am sitting in my chair..comfortably..and i am not dying from them being too tight or thinking that when they come off i will have scars where the zipper and buttons go... and in the past, the buttons were so tight i feared i may get arrested if they flew off and hit someone. so that is my silly success story thought i'd share

I went from buying pants that were 44" waist to presently buying 34"! Here I am on surgery day And here I am on Nov 30 of this year sausmas.bmp

I'm incredibly depressed. I was sleeved on 10/3/12. The first three weeks I dropped 20 lbs. Then the dreaded stall came. I didn't loose a thing until November 16 when I dropped 3 more pounds. I haven't lost a pound since. So my total post op loss is 22 with only a two pound loss in the months of November. Has anyone had this happen to them? Does the weight loss pick up again? I feel like maybe this surgery won't work, like all the other weight loss efforts I tried . I am eating and exceeding and drinking Water. Don't know what else to do. the

You lose 20 pounds post surgery and no one notices. Sigh.... The 20 pounds mean a lot to me and I am really happy about the loss. It has been three weeks. i can see and feel a difference, but I have to admit I am a bit bummed that no one else has noticed.

Just got approved for a band removal to a sleeve surgery. Very scared and nervous. Cannot go back after this one. I'm nervous that I will fail like the band. I lost so much weight only to gain it back. Anyone with a band knows how bad and painful it is to eat proteins and other healthy foods, yet the sliders as they are called became the food of choice. I need to know that I am making a good decision and that I will loose. I am very athletic and good at losing. I just need to know.

I had my 5.5 month visit today and I'm down a total of 130 lbs!!!! Yay!!!! However I'm a little nervous.....all these delicious sweet treat starting to show up at work for Christmas are making me feel weak....having to physically make myself stay away from even looking at them.

I am 7 months from surgery and hit the 100 lb lost mark! I can't believe I have lost that much weight. It was a rocky first few months, but I am so glad I did it now. I never have to diet again, with my wonderful tool that helped get me healthily and I will continue to stay healthy!

Surgery Day Nov, 7th 2012: 230 LB November 7 230.3 November 27 206.0 November 30 202.8 December 4 198.4 I am 27 days post surgery and i am doing wonderful as to losing weight... But i am still having issues like Gas pains and feeling full after only one bite and eating only once or twice a day. Over the last week or so I've been concerned about the outter upper area of my calves hurting. Well my nurse instinct took over and I thought...well I'm a woman on birth control after surgery who used to smoke ALOT sooooo **** do I have a blood clot? Oh I don't want a blood clot, I don't want to go to the hospital, I don't want endless lovenox shots, I don't want to be on coumadin for the rest of my life But its both legs, same exact place, no redness, no swelling, just a kinda tender. I don't run or anything that it might be a pulled muscle causing the pain, so what in the world is wrong with me. Well after some time and paying closer attention to my daily habits I have…

So, DOS was 10/17 and I'm down 17lbs. Decided to cut 11" off my hair, go a little darker, and start my new life with a new look! My clothes fit a little bit looser and I didn't see much of a change until this... Yay me!!!

I am so friggen excited! Today I went into my surgeons office for a refill of my acid reducer. I happened to see him in the hall and he was super happy with my progress. So happy in fact, he asked if he could get my weight. I weighed in at 147. I am 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost 85% of my excess body weight. He gave me a high five, took a picture and pretty much skipped away. He told me that his original goal for me was 65% EWL because of my PCOS, HBP and other health issues (all of which are gone) I am still 12 pounds from my personal goal, which will put me at a BMI of 23, which would be most ideal for my body type. If I lose much more than that, I am afraid my …

So a few weeks ago I posted that I would be taking a business trip this week and was hoping that I had lost enough weight to no longer need the seat belt extender. I am happy to say that I DID NOT NEED IT! Not only that but there was 5-6 inches of belt left! I usually ask the flight attendant before finding my seat for the extender. I made the decision to not ask this time. I felt pretty sure that I might not need it but I was prepared to ask for it if I needed to. I sat down and easily put it on. I just sat there and cried. With tears rolling down my face, I called my husband to share my excitement with him. He just said over and over, "I am so proud of you.". I flew bac…

I haven't been posting as often as I would like, but I wanted to share my story...so far. I was banded on April 5, 2012 and have since lost 90 pounds. The one thing that has helped me actually see/comprehend the weight loss is to take monthly progress photos. I recommend this for anyone just starting out, since many of us anticipate the physical journey and difficulties, but a lot of people are unprepared for the mental and emotional difficulties of actually "seeing" your weight loss. I sometimes still look in the mirror and see my Pre-op self, and that is why my photos are so important! Thanks for all the support I've gotten on here, especially in the beginning. Keep w…

I'm just about six weeks out. And my number one goal has been met! Today I had a blood sugar reading of 82! 82! I'm so happy. I'm a diabetic. A flaming diabetic. Before surgery I injected insulin four times a day, every day. My blood sugar was averaging 250 or so. A1c was 10.8. I felt so hopeless against this disease that at one time I was able to control. I feared the future. And the thought of not being here for my husband, children, and precious grandchildren tore me up.Well I have not taken any insulin since I got home from the hospital. None. And my readings have been so good. And then tonight my sugar was 82. Dang. I'm stunned. It's been 18 mon…

I just realized that this will be THE FIRST YEAR IN OVER 20 YEARS that my New Year's Resolution WILL NOT be to lose weight!!!!!!! I can focus on so many more things now and am not paralyzed by the thought process of what diet to start, what shake to drink, what foods to avoid. OMG, this is just the best. I have 19 more lbs to goal and I can actually see the finish line....A M A Z I N G!!!!!

I started my journey just over 4 months ago I started at 280 pounds and was wearing size 46+ pants since I refused to buy any larger pants than the 46 inch waist As of about a week ago I and down to 175 pounds my size 30 inch waist pants are getting loose on me I feel so much better now than I did just a few months ago I no longer need blood pressure meds and my feet ankles and knees don't hurt anymore. I feel a lot better since I lost the weight. When I started my journey I said this was not a diet it was a lifestyle change I never deprived myself of anything if I wanted to have something I had a small amount. Sometimes it may only be a teaspoon of whatever it…

I wanted to do a 120 day post op pictures so here we go.

The other night my boyfriend and I were cuddling on the couch and he had his head on my chest. Out of nowhere he said "you must be in a good shape." I said "HUH?" He repeated himself. I still didn't know what he meant but I never thought I'd hear those words in my life! He said "your heart rate is ___. That's really healthy." (I don't remember what it was exactly.) Yes, he's a nerd. But he's also a cardiology nurse. He knows I've lost weight but not about the VSG. I'm five months post-op and I've known him for less than 3. I keep saying I'm going to tell him but I always chicken out when I'm with him. I've lost 130 and still have probably 90 pounds to lose but after 28+…

Hi all.. I was sleeved march 19 and to date I'm down 76 lbs. since August I've only lost about 15 pounds.. I've been at a stall.. Can anyone help?!

Highest weight 307 Weight day of surgery 292 Today = 219 November was a LONG stall - didn't lose a pound for 23 days...starting losing again around the holidays. This was also the month I started to C25K...go figure! I am wearing 14/16 clothes, and feel great. I am not letting stalls bother me, or even a measily 7 pound loss for a month bother me - it's 7 more pounds gone! According to the BMI chart, in 19 more [pounds, I will no longer be obese, another 20 after that and I won't be overweight! I have done things I would have never done before - canoeing and kayaking with my kids, jumping off a diving board, fit comfortably in student desks at school, going hors…

Ok..for me this was a very cool NSV. So I was helping my hubby with outside lights for Christmas on the house...up and down all day..in and out of the attic I went and before long..all the lights were up and everything looked great..as my hubby and I were chatting in bed after a long days work...I realized..man I got up in the attic...like 10 xs and not once did I stop to think....I have to rest a second..I am out of breath....is this ladder going to hold me..oooopppsss..turn sideways because your fat behind won't fit in the square hole in the ceiling...get your balance..don't fall..you can't lift that box and go down the ladder at the same time because you can't fit....…

I've always thought Hue makes the best opaque control top tights. But at sizes 4 and 5 they only come in black and brown. Today I fit into a size 3 of a grey pair I bought long ago for "just in case." Now I'll be able to get purple and pink and orange and blue and every color under the sun!!! Yay!!! (Not that I will get orange . But I can!!) Yay!!

So, I wasn't going to post anything about my one year anniversary but here I am. Am I glad I did it? YES, YES, YES! One year and a day ago I was floundering around my exercise routine and every diet I tried. I've only lost 50 lbs so far but then I only have about 30 to get to my goal(which I may change). Lots of exercise has added some extra muscle so I may increase my goal to 150 so I'm really only 25 lbs away. I've found old clothes that I stopped wearing back in the 90's that now fit very comfortably. Fortunately for us guys, fashion doesn't really change all that much. I've bought some new pants, shirts and a nice jacket. All my friends and associates compl…

New thread to thank you for your encouragement ! So happy for all you with great blood sugar, reduced medicine, better control! I am so grateful for this surgery. Question......are we still considered diabetic? At some point will we not be diabetic? I'm asking about type 2. Will we be declared cured? Or controlled?

Almost the entire day went by before I realized that my surgery was one year ago today!! It's actually nice not to constantly be thinking about my weight and food all the time. I'm just enjoying my life sooooo much I don't have time to think about that stuff anymore!!! And I can honestly say, this has been the BEST year in my 43 years on the planet!!! it hasn't always been easy, but "The hard is what makes it great"!!! I have fulfilled a 5 year dream to become a triathlete!! I did 3 triathlons this past summer and am planning on doing 5-6 next year. My goal now is to begin to do longer races and eventually do an Ironman (2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, ending w…

Not that! Lol! We went to the movies and sat right next to each other... Comfortably! instead of leaving a seat in between us. My mom did point out that between the two of us we've lost 110lbs. Pretty much that was like a 110lb person missing from the arm rest between us! Woot woot! I was banded aug 7, 2012. Hubby was banded Sept 25, 2012.

The first pic was taken last year somewhere in Oregon. I was over 400 lbs. The second was today...248 lbs. either way I've got my trusty sidekicks Wrigley and Junior. It's been great and I could not be happier about the results. There have been some tough times but nothing that wasn't worth it. I've followed a pretty basic and simple plan. Eat as much protein as I can. Workout every day, and mix it up. I don't do the same thing 2 days in a row. Make it fun. Drink as much water as I can. Stay away from things that are going to tempt me. And if I have a bad day, or miss a workout or eat something I shouldn't, I don't feel bad. If I stall for a week....or 4.…
