1. Started by Butlersh,

I am almost 5 weeks out and anything I eat causes discomfort. The only thing that goes down ok and stays down ok is crackers. I am not sure if I am eating too much, too fast or what. My sleeve seems to be very very tiny- it would honestly suit me just fine to not eat at all, but I keep trying because I know that is how I'm going to lose the weight. Any advice??

Hello all, Well, It has been a little over 8 months since surgery - 4/24/12. I am down 116lb. The weight loss has slowed, but not as much as I thought after updating my signature. I only have 21lb left to my original goal. I am beyond happy with my sleeve and have o issues with tolerating anything. Sometimes I wish I had some intolerances like to sugars. I am keeping pretty good with my diet, though not perfect. My biggest problem is exercise. I have not been able to get out and get to it. I am trying to jog, but it is slow going. I can jog about 1/2 of my 2 mile walk in intervals. I am happy with that, just not the frequency that I can get out to do it. I th…

For anyone that is looking into having RNY surgery...look at what it has done for me... In April of this year I weighed in at 309lbs. I was devistated. I was wearing 24/26 clothes that were tight! Well in just 7 short months this is where I am now 188lbs and wearing a size 12. I have about 23 more pounds to go until I get to my goal of 165 (I am 5'9 so that is a BMI 25) and for Thanksgiving this year...I am jogging/walking in my FIRST 5k. I am so excited I can't hardly wait. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR MY RNY. It has changed my life FOREVER and I am so happy with the results that I have had. Here is some before and now photos.

Curious about what sizes people are at when they are at 170-180 which is my goal. I am 5'6". Trying to figure out what sizes that I could fit into when I am at goal. I see cute things at thrift stores and I would buy some smaller sizes if I thought I could wear them eventually! I can't imagine being in a large even.....and a medium seems beyond possible But I thought I would ask here and see if I can get an idea! Thanks!

Just wanted to send along an update. The first pic I am at my pre surgery weight of 320 lbs this fall. Had my sleeve done 10/08/2012. The last two pics are from this week, 10 weeks post op. I am currently at 252 lbs. I hope to be at goal around 180 lbs. - 68 lbs... half way there! Appreciate all the real support here. So glad to be on this journey with you. My knees and back don't hurt anymore as they used to. I enjoy working out and being active. Already more comfortable sitting on those questionable chairs . It's Christmas Eve and I already feel like this surgery was the best present ever. Can wait to loose more an get to goal. Can't completely imagine w…

  10. So, it has been a year...and what a year! I set a goal to be at my goal weight on my 1 year mark...not realistic, but that is what goals are for...to motivate you. I lost 90 pounds...30 more to go. I feel....great...I can run up stairs, play with my dog/daughter (yes, in that order) and make love for hours...what else is there in life?? And I have come to some truths about lap band...it works if you let it. I was so confused when I started as to why there was such a broad swath of experiences...from very successful to folks who had it removed. It is all clear to me now...the difference between success and failure is all in the adjustments. Folks who want their cake an…

I hit 63gr today normally I will drink 2 shakes a day for the 60gr and any protein from food was a bonus. Hi all. Just wanted to say I'm loving my sleeve. I'm only 12 days out but have lost 14 lbs. and 7" total already! I'm so excited and know I will reach goal. I also bought me a recumbent stationary bike and tube bands to workout my arms while pedaling so I can work out at home when the weather doesn't want to cooperate....which seems to be quite often here lately. Here's to a great 2013!!

I know I can do it I just need to start exercising haha I have not exercised AT ALL.....I really want to lose 150 total (not in a year) just wondering if people still lose weight after a years period? I have felt so amazing since my weight loss I've gained so much more confidence in myself I can walk without getting tired I LOVE IT! My surgery was may 1 I weighed 310 now I'm at 240 and I'm only 5'1 so I have lots to go still but very excited so far and was like I said just curious if people still kept losing after a year

I'm 7 months postop & stuck at 97 lbs lost. Not complaining really, but the scale hasn't moved for almost a month now. Also for the 1st time I am having food cravings like before surgery & that scares me. Would love to talk & walk with another sleever close by. Any advice regarding the stand still & cravings? Included is a photo from 1/12 & one from 12/12.

Really struggling and need some help. I am almost 6 months out and am close to 100 pounds lost but I saw a picture of myself on Christmas and feel as though nothing is different! I am one day from being done with the 5K running program and am running 30 minutes. I should be thrilled! But, I am thinking that I should be running faster and if I want to run a 5K for real, I don't think I will be able to yet. It's so frustrating to know that I should be thrilled with myself and I was until I saw that picture. It's frustrating to think I will never be "there" I am at about 220 now and then I look on here and see that some people are just starting at this weight. It's so m…

The best part about my weight loss is the newfound freedom I feel to try things that scared me in the past. I was always worried and embarrassed that I wouldn't be able to keep up or would look like an idiot. Well, no more. Yesterday morning I went snowboarding for the first time ever!!! And even though I fell 100 times, it was a success just for me to get on that board and try it! Never be afraid to try something new and make the most of your second chance.

Just a quick post to tell you all that losing weight and maintaining at goal weight is POSSIBLE with the band. I lost approximately 115 lbs in 14 months. I have now maintained my weight loss and am at my goal weight for over two years now. It's A LOT of work. It's not easy. But totally worth it! You can do it too.

January 2nd will be my 6 month post op. I have to say this was the best decision I ever made. Dr. Cirangle saved my life. This has been the easiest diet I have ever been on. Starting weight was 384. This morning I was 251. I've lost 133lbs. I still got 56 more pounds to go but I'm still losing. Before After I will post again when I hit goal. I expect to be at my goal weight by tax time. Wish me luck.

Knowing that I had to do something about my weight which was completely out of control. I made an appointment with Dr. Misra, (Beverly Hills, California) to discuss what options are available for me. I went in with the notion that i was going to do the lapband. After advising Dr. Misra about the ups and downs of my weight issues and I wanted a more "permenent solution" she strongly suggested the Vertical Sleeve with the STARR treatment. Hearing this wonderful option I decided with the advise from my husband and daughter- this was the right choice for me. My surgery, scheduled July 13th 2o11 in Santa Clarita. For Christmas, I think my dinner will be crow. Or at least it feels like it should be. I have gained a bit back, kinda afraid to get on the scale. It started out as maintenance and I hurt my foot and couldn't be on it as much, and I was bored, and the holidays did not help (my Mom passed away this last year). But I woke up this morning and realized that clothing that was once ridiculously baggy was only, well baggy, and I asked my Hubby who said "umurpmmppphhh" which translates into "pleassseeeee don't make me answer". I am still, at most a size 16, but I was on my way to a full-blown 12. Not as much sucesss as it may seem, but for me near the "perfect size". I let myse…

I started out in a size 28 and have made my way down to a size 12. I got my first size 8 a few days ago. It actually fits in the waiste, but likes about 3 or so inches zipping. I think I will be able to wear it when I reach my goal weight. And to think...when I started I though I would be a 16 when I was finished. I am loving it...and so is my hubby ;o)

I had surgery on May 14th and I am down 89 lbs since I started my journey on April 2nd. 6 months ago a spent a lot of time reading success stories, and that really helped keep me motivated thru the terrible pre-op phase and I can now say this had been very hard, but very worth it. My head hunger is finally going away and my cravings are less. I am adjusting well to life with the band as tool, and the rest is up to me.
