  2. Have you tried using smaller plates/ bowls/ utencils when u eat? I used my 5 year olds things my first few months out, and it helped. You eat with your eyes, if u have more in front of you, you will eat it. I am 10 months out and i do not and have never measured or weighed my food. I do not count calories, or chart my food. Way to much work for me. I remember the portions i used to eat, and only eat 1/4 of that now, whether im full or not. You will start to feel good restriction probably after 3-5 fills, maybe even more. Be patient, hang in there, and keep exercising. You will see results in no time!
  3. Your discharge papers should have that info???

  5. Watermelon vodka and crystal light pink lemonade!! Thats my fav! But seriously, stop the puff puff pass crap.
  6. I stayed overnight. My surgeon has his patients do a swallow study the following morning after surgery, where u drink something in front of an xray machine to make sure band is in place, and there are no leaks, or issues. So i was glad for that!
  7. I am happy with my band as well! Should've done this years ago. I do understand ones frustration with all the posts and questions about things that seem so simple to understand, as 90% of the answers can be found at your drs office. It does feel good to vent though and know that you are not in this alone.
  8. I agree with some of the other posts, the band should not limit what u eat, just how much of it u eat. You should be able to eat any foods without much issue. Most Dr.s and dieticians will tell you to stay away from carbs even if u dont have the band! I am almost 8 months out and down 70 lbs. I am not on a diet, i donot weigh or measure my food, i do chart or track calories. I eat the same way i did before surgery, just in much much smaller amounts. The only difference is i walk 45 mins everyday, where as before surgery, i was lucky if i walked 45 in total for the week. Try not to stress or overthink everthing, go about your day and remember move more and eat less and you will be successful.
  9. Its probably acid reflux..take an over the counter acid reducer (nexium), and try not to eat to drink anything right before going to bed.

  11. Try crystal light..so many flavors, and tastes good. No sugar and little or no calories.
  12. Boy, u guys got the good stuff!! All i got was tylenol with codeine and it did absolutely nothing!!
  13. I did not feel much restriction until my 3rd fill (just got my 4th). I can only eat about 1/4 of what i used to eat, and im ok with that! It does take some time. Some dont feel restriction until their 6th or 7th fill. So hang in there, you will start to see/feel a difference soon. And i agree with the other posters...no drinking right before, during, or right after meals!!
  14. Sounds like you may be too tight, or your having a bad case of acid reflux. If its your first fill, your stomach may just need time to adjust, and maybe you should do just liquids for a day or two until it calms down, good luck!
  15. Maybe its acid reflux? I have had that problem for years, and am on prescription meds for it, and i find after fills i have a couple days of nauseous/gassy/stomach gurgling , but then subsides. See how it is when you do back to regular food, you may need a slight unfill.
  16. My husband was banded 5 years ago, did not have good success, due in most part to him not utilizing it well, and refusing to change his eating habits. He was stuck, and sick all the time, and getting fills after fills, and unfills, and ended up gaining half his weight back. We found another surgeon last year who removed the band, and did the sleeve all in one surgery, took about 90 mins. My husband has lost more weight in 6 months with the sleeve then he did in 5 years with the band. But is now severely lactose intolerant, and has to take b-12 vitamins pills under his tongue every day. He is happy with his decision to go from band to sleeve. I was banded 7 months ago, and am doing well with it. If by chance in the future my band completely fails on me, i will definitely consider the sleeve.
