  1. Started by VJSlim,

Hi all, Who's the newest member of the Century Club? ME!!! My ticker is set to show my starting weight as 261.8 - but that was actually my surgery weight. My pre-op diet started when I weighed 272. So as of Oct 5th, I broke the 100lb mark and have entered the century club! This is such a wonderful feeling! That it did not happen overnight (as I dreamed it would, at the beginning of this journey), and I had to work hard to shed each of those 100lbs make me feel so proud. For the first time, I feel like I've earned all the WOWs that I hear from friends and family! Every icky drop of Protein shake that I have consumed in the last few months is so worth it LOL My nex…

  5. One year down. A year in a life amounts to about 1.3% of the average expectancy. In the last year since surgery 10/10/2011 I’ve lost 80% of my excess weight. 151 pounds gone. With the 51 I lost before surgery this puts me over the 200 lost line and 48% of my total body weight. I have to let that sink in sometimes. Half of me is gone. The last time I weighed this amount was in 1980 when I was 18. That’s 64% of my life ago. I’m well on my way to the weight I last saw when I was in junior high school on my way up. At this point, I see no reason I shouldn’t make it. What do all these numbers really mean? Well, for one, I feel young. So much more life than I’ve h…

I've lost a little over 43 lbs and up until today no one had even noticed. Not my friends, not my family, no one. But today a co-worker asked me if I'm losing weight. Finally! I'm not crazy about added attention, but it was a little disheartening to have lost this much weight and having nobody even realize.

  9. I have been in 7 countries in the past year and have lost 83 lbs and reached my goal weight. I posted the TOP TEN things that were the biggest parts of my journey on today's blog; plus two passport photos taken a year apart...even if you don't read the blog, these photos say it all! I wanted to thank Alex and all the people on the VST forum who have followed my year long journey on www.queenofcrop.com; you have been an inspiration to me every step of the way! Mahalo, thank you, Dankuwel, etc....

New Orleans food festivals galore. Not the place for the truly diet consensus. Lasts week was the Gretna Heritage Fest. Gretna is 10 min drive from New Orleans. This festival had almost 50 food booths This weekend, there are The Gumbo Fest, New Orleans Seafood Fest, and The Blues and Bar-B-Cue Fest all within 20 miles of each other. Next week is The Oyster Fest & Treme Music Fest. I cheated, that cheese cake with sweet pecan sauce was so, so, so, good. If you enjoy great music, delicious food, & cool arts and crafts. The Big Easy is the place to be. I enjoy attending festivals, they are trying every bit of will power I have.

I'd like to know if any of you have had complications, and also how you've dealt with the pshycological aspect of this surgery. If you could do it over again, would you?

I have had two compliments recently that just make me feel like such a success with my weight loss. One of my brothers told me that I just look "normal" I don't look like I was ever morbidly obese. If course, I still have some pounds to lose, but the drop from a 26W to a slim size 14 is such a shift in everything about how you look! I try on clothes and finally feel like they look good. I was cold and could borrow someone else's jacket - that was crazy, to fit in a normal looking jacket and not needing something from the big and wide section. The other one was last night. I went to a "tryout" for a ladies equestrian drill team. It is fast paced riding and harde…

Yes, I wanted to take a picture of my scale! lol I haven't been in the 200's since I was probably 15 or 16. I still feel like such a big girl because I have the same shape but just smaller. A fair amount of family and friends know about my surgery but none of them know my numbers so I feel like this is the only safe place to share. NSV- You can actually see my dimples when I smile now! NSV- My father and I have now lost about the same amount of weight (around 115lbs). He's not a WLS but lost a lot wit…

Also, he said I could cut both of my bp meds in half for the next 2 weeks, then QUIT TAKING THEM ALTOGETHER!!! woohoo! And he said to do a blood test Saturday, and if I checks out, I can drop the cholesterol meds too! I'm officially doin the happy dance. ( | ) ( / ) ( | ) ( \ ) ( | ) shake it with me! It's the little things that mean so much. Today I went to a place called kids club here in Vancouver Washington. For the first time I was able to crawl up in the tubes and run around this Hugh play structure. I didn't even get tired. It was the best feeling. One of the number one reasons I did had this surgery was so I can be a better mommy for my kids. I feel like I am on my way there :-) My daughter when we were at the mall she wanted her pic taken with the old navy family after the fun house:-)

I know without my surgery I would not be where I am today for sure! I have minimal saggy skin, would be less if I could get my exercise on track but that is another story! Thanks to all my fellow sleevers for their help and inspiration with their successes and failures, it has helped me get to where I am today! Hugs to you all!

  23. Today, 11 months, 2 days post surgery, I am at my personal goal. I am so happy I am tearing up and shaking a little bit. Lol! This is a weight I thought I would never see again. I seriously thought that I would have to live the rest of my life 200+ lbs and tried my hardest to be comfortable, "happy", and social at that weight. I don't have to live my life that way...and neither do YOU! Yea...I could probably lose more, but I am HAPPY right here, right now! I am still curvy (still have hips, a nice lil bootay, and DD boobies) and I don't want to lose any of that. I really started trying to lose weight in February of 2012 and I was actually banded on May 10th. I am halfway to my goal of 200lbs lost and I am pretty excited about it! I hope by this time next year I am at my goal. On a side note, a lot of people at work keep asking me how much I've lost (I wish I could hide the fact that I'm losing weight, but it's kind of hard). I tell them that I'm not sharing that information (I've never been a good liar) and they seem to get upset with me. Its kind of bothersome. Anyone els…

It will be 3 years on October 22nd 2012 since my Lap Band surgery. I have reached 100lbs today and only 6 lbs more to go to reach my goal weight. Yes, I could have achieved faster if I worked out 3-5 times a week, but I am happy with my results. I lost 68lbs in the first year, and then 20 pounds each year after. I am a size 6!! so very happy - much better than size 20 My band is looking good and is filled to 5.25cc of a 10cc band. The doctor said I am doing great! Just wanted to share my success and hope others are doing great too!

So as I was talking to someone else about their weight loss from VSG, I came to an almost profound (to me anyways) realization (2 actually). 1. From my highest weight, I have lost almost 50% of my body weight (appx 48%) 2. For the first time in my ENTIRE life, I do not feel like I need to lose any more weight. I have always felt like I needed to lose more, and I have always been heavy, since Kindergarten. Although it is not perfect, for the first time I feel at peace with my body. Something that I never thought was possible and something that I never thought I would ever feel.

I stepped on the scale this morning thinking I gained maybe 3 lbs, and I lost 2!!! I went to an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic for 5 days. I ate and drank whatever I wanted. We did do a lot of walking. The resort was huge and we had to hike up a hill and stairs for Breakfast every morning. We got curious and counted one day, 61 steps! Maybe my body just needed some confusion. For breakfast every morning I had one egg scrambled with cheese and ham, fresh pineapple, and some type of bread either 1/4 of a croissant or 1/4 of a slice of french toast. That's all my belly could hold. I ate whatever I wanted, just a smaller portion. I had crepes, pork chop…

Six months since start of pre-surgery program, three months since surgery. Down 80 lbs. My biggest suggestion at this point would be to lift weights. It helps keep the good weight up and really starts to reshape your body. And if you've lifted in the past your body remembers quickly. Good luck to all. J

Well to cut a long story short today (almost 2 years post op) I was admitted to hospital due to abdominal pains (GP was worried it might be vsg complication?!?). It was a long, and inconclusive day, but because I don't have a follow up package with my surgeon today was the first time I have been weighed by a medic since my surgery, which was my silver lining. Last time a doctor weighed me I was deliberately wearing very little and had a BMI of 36, today I wasn't expecting to be weighed, so was wearing jeans, two jumpers and my sturdy shoes I could have kissed the dr when she announced my BMI was 23. I knew that's about what it was, but my official weight on my medic…

Okay now that I have lost over 50 pounds lots of people are starting to ask me how I have lost so much weight. I never planned on telling people I had lap band so I will tell them I eat less and run 3 to 4 miles every other day. Then they will say what else did you do or did you do somthing to get kick started? Ummmmm.........well I started off doing the couch to 5k and worked my way up to running as much as I do now and I did a liquid diet for about 10 days. Then I always just want to say oh and I had lapband. So am I lying by not telling that part?
