I'VE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS OUT OF THREE. I'M SURE SOME OF YOU HAVE TOO BEFORE BECOMING SUCCESSFUL. HAS ANYONE STARTED OVER FROM AN UNFILL? IF SO, LET ME KNOW PLEASE! I WANT TO KEEP MY BAND FOR AS LONG AS I CAN BUT STILL NEED TO LOSE 35 MORE LBS. IT'S HARD, BUT I'VE JOINED THE GYM AND PLAN TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT IT NEXT WEEK. I'M GETTING TOTALLY UN-FILLED ON WEDNESDAY. LET ME KNOW IF I SHOULD DO LIQUIDS FOR A WHILE OR JUST HOW TO GET CONTROL AGAIN. I KNOW IT'S UP TO ME AND I'M STARTING IT OFF BY PORTION CONTROL.

Ok, I am 2 months and 2 days post-op and about 6 months out from my initial consultation with my doctor. I am down just over 90 lbs, 50 pre-op and now 40+ post op (in 2 months). I just looked back at pics from my sister-in-law's wedding and can't believe how big I was at the time. I was somewhere around 315-318 at the time in this wedding pic and am now down to the mid 220's with about 40-45 lbs to go to goal. I know others' pre and post-op pics were big inspirations to me so I want to share my transformation as potential motivation for others. But, the biggest inspiration is the little one and my wife in the last two pics. Don't mind the cheesy OBX gear we are wea…

Just a quick question - I was sleeved last Friday 9-21-12 and am doing really great. I was back at work yesterday. Just wondering though, is it possible to get in too much protein? I'm getting more than 65 grams a day, sometimes up to 90. I am getting all my liquids in too. Actually I'm feeling great. I was curious about the protein.

My blood pressure has been well within normal range for three weeks now!!! Hooray for my sleeve and I!!! My primary doctor d/c'd 3 of my 6 meds today and is weaning me off the other three. I've been on meds to treat my hypertension for 29 yrs! For all the low points we may complain about concerning our sleeve, this is definitely a high moment! This is worth any "UGH" moment I may have.

Hello all. 9/23/2012 marks exactly 3 months since my weight loss surgery! I’ve lost exactly 50 lbs since the day of surgery on 6/23/2012, and 64 lbs since my highest recorded weight on 6/2/2012. It hasn’t been an easy or smooth road, but having VSG surgery was one of the most fruitful decisions of my life. I am humbled by, and grateful for this journey. I’ve seen my life and my thought processes change and grow thus far throughout this journey. Areas where I was once weak no longer have power over me. Everyday I get stronger. The periodic discoveries are awesome to see. Clothes that were once skin tight now falling off me. Having a workout that initially could only last…

Yesterday, I was whining about how my scale was saying I weighed 180.0, but it refused to go below that amount. One of my friends suggested I cut off a pinky finger. He asked when do we ever use both pinkies at the same time anyway? And today, my scale gave in and let me know that I weigh 179.4. Even better -- I still have all my body parts and didn't even get a drastic haircut to make it happen. I am loving that my scale is moving down again!

My husband is a football coach and has been at the same school for two years. At the begining of the season all the coaches and family have a get together at the head coach house. I went last year and I was 60 lbs heavier than now. Now I'm 133 this time last year I was 188. So my husband told me that one of the coaches pulled him to the side and said hey coach I didn't know you were bringing your girlfriend. My husband looked like what is he talking about. He then responded that she(me) is my wife. He was like wow. I was wondering what you were doing with that hot chick.lol Then lastnight we went to go look for a new car. Mind you his friend works at a dealership. We w…

Today when I returned to the office from being out of town, a co-worker stopped and said "wow. You look narrower from under your arms to your waist." For what that's worth?!? A bit of a 'different' compliment but I'll take it!

I was sitting in my Dr office today. Talking with the nurse about my weight. I started at 251 today I was 217. It was going fast at first but has slowed down the last few weeks:( as I was complaint about this, I looked down and realized my legs were crossed. I just stopped and started crying. This was a huge moment for me. It has been years and I'm not complaining anymore. Today was a great day!!!

Hello All, This has been quite a journey for me. I had a lapband done in June of 2009 and due to a flipped port I decided to go ahead and have a revision surgery. I had lost 70 pounds with the lapband but had gained it all back. I suffer from depression and bipolar 1 and I didn't have the coping skills necessary to FOCUS on a health lifestyle. Well, I have been given a new lease on life. I am loving my vertical sleeve. I make better food choices and have not had a single problem in the past five weeks. I also have a therapist and am taking the proper medications. What a great opportunity I have been given to be able to regain sound physical and mental health. …

In a couple of weeks the company I work for is having their annual sales univ here in town that I have worked at for many years. There is a large group if people that I talk with all year round but only see face to face here at this meeting. I hope to make the 100 pound loss by then and I do feel better about myself even though I still have another 100 to go. My question is do I wear the clothes I have that are all to big or splurge and get some things that show off what I've accomplished so far? I'm very proud of what I've done but don't want to be that heavy gal flaunting it. An I making sense? I really want to but don't know if I should. I could really use some advice.…

I spent yesterday rearranging my sewing space and I finally decided that I can sew some clothes for me again. I pulled my sewing dummy out of the closet and realized I haven't changed her measurements to match mine in quite some time. Imagine my disappointment that my sewing dummy is now BIGGER than me, even at her smallest settings.

I'm so excited!! I got on the scales this morning and I have lost 50.5 pounds!!! I started this journey at the end of May when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. My doctor said either diet/exercise or medication. I chose to try the diet and exercise. I had been thinking about lapband for several months and finally decided to have the surgery. Boy have I not regretted my decision!!!! I started out at 228 and am now 177.4!! 50 pounds was my first big goal. Now I'm pushing for 75. My family (other than my husband) can finally see that I am loosing weight. :-) I have also been cleaning out my clothes. I have given away about 3-33 gallon garbage bags full of clothes. I am …

Hi Guys, I'm looking for support, a little confidence boost. The last year has been kind of rough. When I began my journey. I weighed 390 pounds (I've attached a picture) and my goal at the time of surgery was to get down to 150. I'm now at, consistently, 170-180 and I CANNOT, no matter what I do, get anywhere lower. I am the same weight now as I was this time last year. I'm happy with how I look. I went from a size 30 to a size 12. I can shop in every store at the mall. I exercise a lot and am healthy and active, but I still feel like a big failure because I can't, and didn't, reach that 150. I want to stop being so hard on myself, but every time I get on the…

I am exactly half way today at about 5 months out. I have had some frustrations with losing on the slow side, but I'm still losing and feeling great! I just saw my daughter off to college this past weekend so we were taking lots of pictures. I lost my before picture so I couldn't post it here, but it's on my profile.

I am 17 days post-op.. I didn't own a scale.. I have no idea about my weight loss... Which is a bit frustrating!! So I broke down and bought one. I don't think the scale fairy wants me to get on it.. It was suppose to come with batteries but it didn't.. So off to get some. Scared to get on it though. Afraid it will show no weight loss... Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

How interesting is this....I woke up this morning, weighed myself and saw that I had reached my goal weight (meaning according to the CDC I am of NORMAL weight) and then I logged on to my email and received a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY email from Alex here on the forum.....I had signed up for the VST talk exactly ONE YEAR TO THE DAY I REACHED MY GOAL WEIGHT! And 11 months after surgery.....This week last year was the most humbling, difficult week of my life.....I posted the details on my Sunday blog today; it was my final AHA moment.....check it out if you want to see how I started the most interesting year of my life....just click on the link below my signature. Thanks Alex …

I see such amazing success on these boards but I can't help but wonder if they are the exceptions or the norm. Here's my dilemma: I'm hoping for surgery early to mid-December. It's very possible my husband will win an award trip to Mexico leaving March 11. Approx 3 months from date of surgery to date of departure. I have about 100 pounds to lose. This might be the first time I have ever not prayed for him NOT to win the trip. Seems like everyone at his company is pretty fit and his female boss is an exercise nut. Apparently she often points out people who need to exercise more. I know he loves me, but I do NOT want to embarrass him! The anxiety is killing me. …

Hello everyone. I had my surgery on 7-31-12. I started out at 306 and after two week preop diet I was 288 day if surgery. I am 5'7" and 35 years old. My journey started out so well and the weight was just pouring off. For the last 10 days...not a SINGLE pound gone. Each day the scale reads 254.6. It's so frustrating. I'm so happy with what I've done thus far but Lordy!! How long will this silly stall last? Just need some encouragement. I am doing everything by the book. No more than 600 calories per day. 80 of protein. Exercise. Ugh! I know I can push more water...that I need to do but I'm just curious as to if anyone has experienced the same frustration??

As of this morning I am under 200 lbs. 7 months post-op and have lost over 100 lbs. I have to go back 25 years since I was this weight! And I got results that says my sleep apnea is gone as well. It is a good day!

I will be 2 years post op next month. Prior to my surgery, I flat out REFUSED to be in any pictures, I hated the way I looked and didn't want any reminders. Well now almost 2 years later, I am engaged to my very best friend and he wanted boudoir photos taken for him...talk about taking me out of my comfort zone!! But I did it... although they are very cheesy, and because of that, somewhat still embarrassing, but point is, I did it. When the pictures came back it was hard for me to look and realize that is really me, I actually lost the weight and wasn't that 'fat girl' anymore. I finally am happy and feel pretty good about myself... now I focus on other things that need i…

Well.. As sometimes happens, I had this post all typed out and then I lost it. Ain’t that the pits? :-/ I could call these progress shots, or I could call these goal shots as I am 9 lbs away and I am so happy that I feel like I am already a success story, Even though occasionally I still see “Fat Heather” in the mirror, I see her less and less with every passing day. I am only a week and a half away from my surgiversary and I think these are the first “progress pics” I have posted. Let’s start with the stats. I started this journey: Weighing: 302.4 lbs Wearing: Size 24W pants, 2X shirts Waist: 50" I am currently: Weighing: 164.4 lbs Wearing: Size 10 pants, M …

Yippee!! I was starting to think it would never happen. I had been hanging around in the 205 range for a month...but I finally got on the scale this morning and there it was, 198!! Woo hoo! I have not seen this weight in more than 14 years!! For those of you worrying about stalls, I have had three in four months. I wish I could just put the scale away and ignore it, but I weigh every day and drive myself crazy. I am so happy I had this surgery. It has been challenging, but it is ALL WORTH IT!!

I was sleeved on June 26th. The begining of catching up on all the living that I have been missing out on. I have to say that I have really not had any complications. I was in a little bit of pain on my right side for a couple of weeks. Mainly hurt when I got in and out of bed. I am able to eat pretty much anything. I don't, but what I have tried has been fine. My NUT suggests one cheat day a week. Always the same day. I do that. Sunday is my day. The best thing is that even though I am not eating healthy food, I can only have a few bites so no harm. I have lost 50 pounds so far. I will never get tired of everyone telling me how great I look and asking me …
