I started this journey at 371 pounds. Two months, two weeks and one day after surgery I have met my second goal of losing 100 pounds! Now on to my third goal: 250 pounds. I have to say it does feel nice to not be at my former weight.

is it normal to not have your tastebuds change? my surgery went really well. I have no nausea or vomiting. i sometimes wonder if i really had the surgery cause everything seems to be going so well for me. lol. I did have two bleed outs from my main port and had to have transfusions but other than that im doing fantastic. Mine is a real success story. but i do wonder about my tastebuds not changing.

Ok people, I've always been a bit of a charmer with the ladies. Few laughs, hit em with the eyes and... BANG! I'm in there! As a collegiate athlete and top 20 recruit in high school, I got A LOT of attention! However, life happened.. 15 knee surgeries later and here we are. Well yesterday I went to a Raiders game (been a season ticket holder since they came back from Los Angeles) and a young lady approached me and tried to pick me up!! I was tongue tied for a second but walked with a lil more pep in my step. God before anything, Family before anyone, Home before anywhere. Priority..

I've about decided that I think I'm a success story already. I was sleeved yesterday. I went in very calm, rested and so ready. Even the doc was surprised at my calmness. He said he doesn't see that very often. I felt bad since the girl next to me in the pre-op room was having a meltdown. I was the first surgery of the day. I was back in my own room by 09:00. When I was really with it, the first thing I wanted to do was walk. My hubbs was the GREATEST. I'm not sure how it happened (probably because I was up and at 'em first) but at the 2 in the morning walk, I met up with a handful of VSG patients. I was whipping around the floor pretty quickly. I'd stop ne…

Wearing only my undies (because I live alone and I can) and I realize my legs feel funny. I head into the other room to look in the mirror and see that my thighs don't touch anymore! No wonder skirts and dresses have been so comfy. Bye bye chub rub!

How soon after surgery were able to return to work? Taking off for what management considers an elective surgery would be career suicide for me so I'm planning to use my pre-approved vacation week. I have a sedentary job but I'm worried that 10 days may be too soon to return to work.

Hi Everybody, Did it! Done it! My surgery was on Monday and it went so smooth! Dr. Ortiz is the bomb! Had an awesome experience! I am a revision... so, I had my band removed and the sleeve done at the same time. The doctor said I had alot of scar tissue around the band and a tiny hernia...but, they fixed all that. The IV was the hardest part of the whole process. For being a big girl... I have tiny veins and they are hard to find and hit! Ended up getting poked 5 times before they got it...but, if that is the worst... then I consider myself very very lucky! I was in OR for about an hour and a half... pretty groggy when I came out... my friend, Stacy had two h…

I have officially reached the century club! I plan on posting pictures at my 6 month surgery anniversary which will be October 3rd. If anyone is contemplating surgery or getting ready to have this surgery, I would say do it. Yes, it is hard. Yes, you must commit to the whole process. Yes, there are always setbacks, but isn't that what life is about? It is these experiences that make us stronger as individuals. Did I have complications ? Yes while my team felt it was minor ( a small hematoma), it hurt like hell for 2 months, but I prevailed. What has change for me? I no longer have prediabetes or high blood pressure. Alas, I have high cholesterol still, but mine is…

Hi everyone, my name is Cindy. I'm 31yrs old from Newark NJ. I really don't know what to say on this but I just got my lapband & so far I didn't expect my stomach to be in pain but luckily I'm taking the pain medication doctors prescribed for me which is helping me out alot. Nurses say the pain is normal because I have five holes in my stomach. My goal is to lose 150lbs, let's hope in due time it gets accomplished. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Had the official 3 month post-op gastric sleeve visit and weigh in today. Per doctor's scales -75 pounds and -50 inches!!! woohooo!!!! My bp was 120/70 with a heart rate of 56!!! I have never in my LIFE had a heart rate of 56!!!!. Labs: My A1C was perfect @ 5.8. I am low on Iron and Vitamin d so I have to supplement those now. Meds: Stop the lisinopril/hctz; add in Vitamin D and iron. (That means NO prescription meds now except omeprazole and singulair!!! I was on 3 diabetes drugs- headed for insulin, blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds and 2 anti-depressants pre-op.) Diet: Up Protein intake to 100 grams a day, no more than 80 grams of carbs and (holy co…

I am so overjoyed to see 299 on the scale this morning! This might sound funny, but it finally seems real! 51 pounds is alot of weight but when you're 350 pounds and every time you step on the scale you're still in the 300's, it just seems like it's going to take forever! I'm so excited to see the scale starting with a 2!!!!! SO EXCITED!

Two years ago today I was sleeved. You can follow my posts through the last two years to see that yes, I struggled but I never once regretted my decision. Feel free to contact me directly if you ever want to discuss what life is like "after VSG". I am amazed still. Thank you to my many supporters on this great support site, my surgeon and my SoCal Support group. Hugs - I have no regrets. IEGAL

Hello to all my fellow sleevers and future sleevers Today marks my one year surgiversary! I cannot believe that I am this point already! Since beginning my journey I have lost 129lbs. I went from a size 24 jean to a size 4. I am in a "normal" BMI. I have had plenty more “ups” then “downs” and I can confidently say that this was the best decision I have ever, and will ever, make. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I could. I recently started weight lifting and even though my weight loss has drastically slowed down I am losing body fat and my shape is shifting as well. Tonight I spent some time at a seminar and they were presenting some new research data surrounding…

I know this may sound like a crazy question but here goes: Has anyone been keeping a measurement of there sizes and weight. I am asking this because I have lost 44 pounds, but is still wearing the same clothes. I dont think that I have dropped a size yet. Yes my clothes fit a lot baggier, but I am not able to get into a whole other size. Here is my stats: Started out at 279 sleeved on May 31 wore a size 18 Down now to 235 5'4 wearing a size 16 in pants. I am totally confused, I would think that since I lost almost 50 pounds I would have dropped more than one size. Thanks for any help or suggestions you have!

Finally! 50 lbs down. After going up & down 1-2 lbs for a month, magically, I lost 3 lbs last night. I NEVER lose more than 1 lb at a time. I was shocked. Checked it twice. 16 more to go to hit goal. Once I get to goal, I'll probably want to try to lose 5 more to give me some wiggly room. For now, I'm happy. I'm wearing size 10-12. I'm a slooowww loser but, feeling good.

Ok my little non scale victory.I've lost 57 lbs since my pre op diet 3/23/12 banded 4/6/12. Other than the boobies dropping I couldn't really tell in my clothes.yes some stuff fit a bit loose but I can still where most of my size 26 and 24 clothes. So today I decided to go into the Avenue a plus size store and I tried on size 22 jeans. They fit good.then I said " what the he'll ?!" and pulled a pair of size 20 from the rack.I thought at least I will see how close I get to buttoning them then I can gauge how far I have to go. Well they slipped on and zipped ! I had trouble with the button but managed to get it closed.I had a bit of a muffin top but was excited none the les…

I had surgery in June and I feel great. I am down 62lbs and I have dropped 10 pant sizes. From a 26-28 to a 18-20. I fit into my Lawman jeans I bought 3 years ago that didn't fit. They were my incentive jeans. Now they are my looking to be to big jeans. Love my sleeve!!!!! I had an accident on 9-6-12, I was hit by a truck pulling into my driveway. It was a horrible accident and I have missed my exercise and playing outside with my kiddos. I am very lucky not to have been injured any worse than I was. My weight loss has been my goal to pull me through my injuries. This is my possitive. Good luck on your weight loss to all.

It has been one month and one week since my surgery and I have lost 22 lbs. I am 26 lbs from my doctor's goal and 51 lbs from my goal. Before surgery I was type 2 diabetic on metformin and fast acting insulin, just like my father and sister. My blood sugar has been at normal levels since my surgery! I can't wait to get my A1C results at my next check-up with my PCP!!! It feels so great to know I will never have to worry about getting a band adjustment again!!! And, it feels so good to know I will keep the weight off this time!!!!!

Good afternoon everyone! Just wanted to give an update. I got sleeved on 12/15/2011, I was a lapband to sleeve revision. I am loosing slowly but surely and I am currently at 152 lbs. I started with pre Lapband at almost 250 lbs and pre Sleeve at 193 lbs. I work out 3-5 times a week and I also drink my protein shakes as a meal replacement at least once a day and try to limit my carbs and sugars. It has taken a lot of work, but I am very proud of my accomplisments and very happy with myself at this point. A little nip and tuck wouldn't hurt but will look into that in the future!!

Hi Everyone! I have been absent for a while - we moved August 31, the computer didn't know it had Vista installed, etc., but I'm back now. Anyway, I got a second fill on August 28 (now at 6.2 in a 14 cc band) and MAN did I get stuck a lot. I had a couple of PB episodes (I didn't know what it meant either - till it happened to me). I would take a small bite of anything and it would be stuck for around 10 minutes. I made the mistake of drinking a little bit of Water when it felt like it was loosening up. It wasn't and the water made an immediate repeat appearance. I came close to going back to have some saline taken out but I remembered people here saying it can tak…

I hate that word -- "Obese." It's hung on me with extra identifiers like "Super-morbidly" The closer I get to goal, the slower the weight loss, but it's still going down. The inches are too. I just moved solidly into 10s and can wear some 8s. I am now smaller than my very fit husband who wears a 32. I started out as a tight size 22W I should look at some before pics, but they are hard to find since I used to duck out of photos.

Finally, 3 months 2 days and 45lbs later I finally have left the 300's. Never to return. Pic morning of surgery and pics today.

Just thought I'd post a quick update for my family here at VST. Today I am exactly one year out from surgery. On August 30, 2011, Dr Patrick Domkowski changed my life and introduced me to Rex, my new sleeved tummy. The short of it is that I'm now 117 pounds lighter than I was last year. I'd have given my eye teeth to lose that weight before surgery, but I just never managed to do it! Rex and I have had one heck of a ride and I couldn't have predicted how this year went if I'd have tried. I lost a best friend. She died suddenly in January, but she was one of my biggest supporters every single day. I'm proud to tell Lynn that I have lost more than her entire body weight.…

Hi there, I thought I'd share my progress. I started out at as a low bmi at 201. Was sleeved 4/9 by Dr.Kelly. Today I weighed in at 159. When I was researching the sleeve there wasn't a lot of info regarding low bmi and the surgery. I am hoping to get down to 145-140.

I started this journey at 234 pounds in my Surgeons office July 31, 2011. I had surgery August 8th at 225 pounds. I had a setback in September and started over really after a kidney stone and kidney surgery September 15, 2011 at 236 pounds (yes even higher than my original weight). I have lost 100 pounds in a year. I decided I would get a makeover and do a photoshoot. Here are a few of those pictures.. I will post the pic of me the day of surgery for reference. I would not have made it except for the support I have found on this board. All you guys are great! I appreciate you all being there during the journey and the ups and downs. I am going into maintenance n…

Hello all! I wanted to share my first NSV with everyone... I have been suffering with high blood pressure for nearly 12 years. I am 1 week post-op today and I no longer have high blood pressure! Just so you can understand my excitement I was on 3 blood pressure pills a day for a year. Prior to that I was on 4 blood pressure pills daily...... I am shedding tears of joy because for the past week my blood pressure has been normal without medication... Prior to surgery after medication my blood pressure was never normal.... Thank God for my sleeve and I am so glad I decided to have the sleeve done.. I know I have a long way to go but so far I would say I am off to an awesome …

Our county fair is a big deal around here and for the past five years or so I have avoided getting in the rides. I avoided because many things have a 230/250 lbs limit or a size limit and I was fluffy with a round belly. At the ticket kiosk I asked if I was too big for the rides this year and the lady actually laughed and said 'no way'!! So not only did my kids enjoy the rides but so did I. And they enjoyed them even more because mom was screaming and laughing and having fun with them this year instead of waiting and watching. That experience made everything worth it and the good times are just beginning! If anyone else is contemplating surgery just think about th…
