I'm really considering getting banded, I'm attending a seminar on the 16th. I have to say its been very helpfull reading everyone's post &thank you all for that. I've been overweight my entire life, I was in a really bad car accident last jan. I broke both legs, it was very hard on me last year, but by the grace of God I made it. So now I've been gaining more weight than ever, I can walk not for long & I know loosing weight would benefit me in a lot of ways. On the other hand my husband was in a car accident 5 years ago & needs to wear prosthetics, so needles to say I take care of the household. So my first question is how long has it taken everyone to g…

Did anyone get the surgery after gaining weight after a hysterectomy? Just curious how that turned out?

I know I'm just a baby in the lap banding world, but I had to share. I had surgery on 12/17/12. Since then I've lost 42 lbs including the pre-op diet. I've been taking monthly pics and measurements so I can see a difference. I took a photo last night and was amazed (and may have cried a little) at the difference. This is seriously the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Went to the doctor today, my blood pressure was very low, my A1C was 5.5. So my primary care doctor agreed that I can go off both of them!

I had surgery June 30, 2012 in Mexicali by dr Aceves my stats are 5'0 & starting weight 200lbs as of jan 30, 2013 I met my goal of 130lbs. I feel amazing so all of you slow low Bmi'ers don't give up hope. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

I was banded on January 30th and have been on clear then full liquids. Dr. Says I can move to mushies if I am hungry, but I haven't been so I am staying where I am for now. So today I was making tomato soup for my son and decided to have some.....oh my goodness....it was heavenly!! I never noticed how good it was before. Things seem to have more flavor now. My mouth was literally watering between tiny sips!! :-)

I was banded last August. I've only had 2 semi stuck episodes since then (both on apples, when I kind of forgot I was banded). Anyhow, tonight we rented two movies. One was The Possession. I was out late and missed dinner. I came home, we put on the movie, I ate some salad - too fast- and got stuck, PBing all over the place, hurling up the salad. It was the first time hubbie ever saw it. It was not pleasant. I was basically hawking up everything I ate, telling him to leave me alone, really not pretty. Anyway, I got unstuck. We went back to watching the horror movie, and next thing I know the possessed girl in the movie is trying to hurl up a demon! I turned to my hubbie a…

I've been very frustrated that I could lose 60 pounds and still be wearing all my same clothes. Well I have noticed that my pants are getting a bit baggy, so I got out my few smaller clothes and sure enough I have dropped two sizes comfortably ( 24 to 20), though since I have so many clothes I won't give them all up yet until I can replace them with a few more smaller ones. And the good news is that after no movement for the past month, I finally lost 2 pounds today. Yay. 9 lbs to go to be halfway to my goal. Scale Victory - For the first time in 26 years, I weigh less than my husband. NSV - I can wear my diamond wedding band set again which I haven't been able to put o…

An email from Obesityhelp.com reminded me that it was two years ago today I had my VSG. No regrets! I was not a big loser by any means. My surgeon predicted that because I started at 230 lbs and 5' 5" I would not lose 100 lbs. I did lose and maintain a 65 lb loss. I feel and look SO much better that I don't really care. I could be more committed about exercise and lose more, but with working full time and being 60 years old, I am content with my weight loss. VSG is the way to go. I see coworkers who have all had GBP having iron infusions. My iron has remained perfect. I eat very small meals and basically no food has bothered me. I do stay away from very spicy things, wh…

Well since I forgot to put up a picture at 9 months picture, so technically it's a 10 month picture. I have currently lost 131#. I haven't updated my status on here and I will correct that shortly. Thought I would post some pictures from beginning until now. This tool will work for you! I am not saying I didn't have set backs and everything wasn't perfect on my journey, but it is working. I am thankful I took the leap. 12 hours before surgery: 6 months post op: And today at 10 months post op 131# down:

Started the pre op diet on 12/5. Lost 23lbs. Banded on 12/21. Just lost another 17.5lbs for a grand total of 40.5 lbs. I don't know why the 40lb hurdle was so important to me...most people shoot for 50, but when I stepped on the scale this morning and I finally made it I was extremely excited. :-). Yipppeeee!!!

My journey began in Oct. 2012. Since then I have last 40 pounds. I will celebrate after this next ten pounds because not only will I be at 50 pounds loss but I will be out of the 300s. I am motivating myself to see that goal like never before. Six months ago I would have said it was a lost cause. But now I am more thrilled than ever. I changed my picture today to this pic I found on Bandster's blog. CHANGE! I can see it happening now. I am excited not only for me but for all of us. WE can do this!

This time 1 year ago, I was crunching on ice, chatting with some fabulous nurses, and icing my abdomen. It was truly one of the best nights of my life. The first night of my new, healthy, life. I'm down 105lbs- with 50 more to go. I could never have accomplished all I have without my husband and mother. So happy

I saw my endocrinologist today and she pronounced me CURED of my type 2 diabetes as a result of my sleeve surgery! My A1C was 8.1 last fall. I had my surgery Dec. 18. My A1C today (Jan. 31) was 6.5. I have not needed any insulin or Metformin since my surgery. For this reason, my doctor said she considers me cured. The relief is overwhelming!

Down 76 from starting weight, 70 since preop diet and 52 since surgery. Absolutely no issues. Never had pain or gas or reduce. I'm lucky. Dont really have a lot of restriction but I'm never hungry. I'm 6 foot 3 315 right now so I'm shooting for about 230 as my goal. Ill have to see how that looks on Mr and go from there. Feels weird saying that since I don't remember being as light ad I am now in 20 years. The sleeve is a blessing.

as much! Calm down, people! I still shower everyday... However, I used to be the person who had to shower before every event, sometimes multiple times a day. I would work a full day (no physical labor involved) but had to fully shower and get ready again before going out that night. I'd plan my day and my social life around when I needed to shower. I never felt "fresh." I sweated all the time. I constantly felt like I smelled. Last night my friend wanted to go out and I contemplated showering... or just washing off in the bath since I can comfortably fit in the tub now... but I realized even though I had showered 12 hours prior I still felt clean, everywhere! Some of th…

Our very own MassIndex is one of our model citizens here in the forum and now out in the world. Check out THIS article from the Las Vegas Sun. He was then asked to do a segment on NPR, too! I had the privilege of listening in live, but the podcast is now posted HERE. If you are needing some inspiration or are wondering what your potential is, then you have to check these out. Congrats to you, Mark, and to all others deciding to follow his path. Truly inspirational.

I know there are many of you who wonder "is this the right thing for me?" Some of you are a little scared (as I was), some of you wonder "will this work for me?" or "can I do this?". I'm here to tell you, don't be scared...it will work (if you follow the rules!!!) and YES, you can do this!!! The sleeve has been a wonderful tool. Without it I know I would have never lost the weight and I would probably be heavier than I was back then. I know I would be in worse health, more depressed and still hiding at home instead of enjoying my life. I may be one of the "lucky ones" who really hasn't had any problems, I don't get hungry, and I have only continued to improve my quality o…

If I have calculated correctly I am in my 11th week post op. Gosh, it feels a lot longer than 11 weeks. I feel great! I don't miss my old life of over-eating. I do love that I eat regular food now. Nice to fit in the healthy foods rather than all that Protein drink, yogurt, mashing everything up and such. My body feels so much better and is operating as it should (no need to go into detail with that---plumbing is finally working well with no help). I am down 43 pounds, that was last week. My hair is still healthy. Taking all my Vitamins everyday religiously. People are now noticing. I really don't like the attention. There are three people at work that know what…

usually i write about a silly success as related to me... today i got one and its not silly....it made my day out of no where this evening, hub came over to me (it was 75 here today and when i got home i put on a tank) and i was watching him polish his ride, he came over and said look at you......i just looked at him..he touched my shoulder and said look at those skinny shoulders and upper arms...i said no way, he said yeah and made me look and sure enough, there be my collar bone and my upper arm is no longer a log but has some definition and outline....imagine that on me... i never ever thought id share something like this but i am...

I am pretty new here but not new to WLS. I was banded almost 10 years ago and I was not successful at any point. Most of the time I was unfilled or mostly unfilled. I recently began to have p Robles and found a surgeon in my are who did a fluoroscope and said all seems fine. I am starting to get a little terrified thinking I left this in too long and perhaps it has eroded. I found another surgeon and will be calling to make an appointment soon. I am going to insist on checking for erosion and also consider revision. The only thing certain is that I want this freakin band out of my body and I am terrified of surgery and my son losing his Mom. Really, I know it seems f…

My daughter asked me to go to the shopping mall with her yesterday. I hesitated, thinking, "nope, not able to do this". Well, I, decided to give it a try. Have n't been in the mall, let alone able to walk around one in more than three years. I did it! We had so much fun!!! Loving life, loving my sleeve, loving me!!! P.S.- Think I'll start posting my NSV's on my fridge, to keep motivated!

2 years ago I made an important decision that would change my life forever! I had my RNY gastric bypass 2 years exactly from today. Best thing I could have ever done. I have lost 130lbs and my health is so much better. I can keep up with my 7 year old! I am so happy, but it is getting harder now, but I know what I need to do and stop getting lazy and discouraged!! This is a great journey and I wish the best for everyone!

I havent lost for 8 days now... I know its to be expected but its still depressing considering what we put ourselves through physically... Plus passing up on our old favorite foods... Especially working in the NICU when a set of parents brings in a huge box of gourmet cupcakes :-/ . Im keeping around 800 cals a day, getting at least 72oz of water, and pretty much meet my protein goal of 60g. I know, i know... It didnt come on over night and i wont lose 100lbs in a month...i know stalls and weeks of not losing are expected... Just doesnt make it any less frustrating/depressing since thats two weeks out of the first month

Yea, its that time of the year again.. blah! I don't know why, even as far as I have come with my weight loss I still think about chocolates! It really aggravates me and bothers me that I can go on for days talking bout it, thinking about, craving it, and wanting to eat it. I know this is all mental games that plays in my mind. I just hate that I 'still' want it. I love chocolates, especially dark rich truffles. My husband every year on Valentines Day would buy me a box of the finest chocolates to endulge in, with a bottle of my favorite wine. I dread when I have to go to the super markets and look at all the Valentine Day displays (those people should be punished),…

Today is my one year surgiversary! I always enjoy reading updates from people who are farther down the road than I am, so I decided to post an update for anyone who’s interested in how life is a year out and wonders what they can look forward to. Here are some thoughts… Mental state: I think that, over the course of the year, my mind changed as much as my body. I’m pleased to say I feel “normal” now and think in a way that matches a closer-to-normal-size body. Even though I still have 27 pounds to go to be out of the “obese” category, I have become much more at peace mentally these days. My thoughts don’t dwell on food. There is no sense of struggle/fight with mys…

I went for my month check up and was really excited. I was banded 12/21 and since preop I lost 18lbs and 22 since surgery. I feel soooo good and the doctor said I didn't need a fill. How many of you have lost a significant amount of weight without a fill? Adrianna - Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
