We were at my mother in laws this weekend and she babysat the kids so my hubby and sister in law and I could walk around the little shops downtown. We went into a little boutique that has some really cute clothes. They had nothing over size L. I was able to fit into almost everything AND I walked away with five adorable tops! I haven't shopped in a store like that in a decade. Oh boy... look out here i come :-)

Hello all! Its been a while since I have posted. Thought I would correct that. Without giving all the back story since it's all in here in various posts. I reached goal 7 months after surgery (sugery was may 2011) i gave been at goal for 13 months now. It is still better than I ever dreamed or imagined!! What an amazing thing to have this gift of life, true unabashed, suck the marrow out of, running, rock climbing, children proudly smilling, wear anything in the store, life! (Though what i'd give for a pair of jean that fit right in the butt!! All to big now:-) My life has improved in so many ways, more more than I ever contemplated. I was already a happy upbeat pe…

I just had to share with people who would understand, but I finally went shopping for pants today as mine are all too big and I didn't keep anything smaller, so it was time I got out of the "droopy butt" (as I call them ) pants. So I went in thinking, I'm probably and 18, nope, too big, I'm a 16, woohoo! I'm really happy, I was wearing size 24 about 7 months ago.

I had my surgery on April 30,2012. My highest weight was 223. When I met my Dr. I was 202. The day if surgery I was down to 190 ( thanks to the two week liquid diet:)) ) I set my goal weight for 123. That would be 100 pounds down from my highest weight! I am 46 years old ( as of today! ) I am 5'1. So , I am short! ) I am now 122 pounds! I made it to my goal weight before my birthday! What a great gift I have given myself! A healthy new life! Full of hope! I wish you ALL the best! Remember to always follow the rules and put your health first! ) Today is a GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!!

Had some laughs, smiles and some I can't believe people are the way they are. I really hope that some of the people who are here realize that I believe that this forum was started for people who have questions, concerns and to find out how other people were doing with their sleeve. There are just too many negative people on this site. I will say some want to help and some want to make you look and feel stupid. And as for the vets who are sick and tired of the newbies asking questions. Remember you were a newbie once and I 'm pretty sure no one was a smart azz to you like you are to some of the posters here. Good luck, keep your faith newbies it will all get better. Please…

Here I am 6 months less a day and this morning I have reached my goal weight. My story is I had a revision on September 10, 2012 with Dr Fernando Garcia in Tijuana Mexico. Fabulous surgeon and the absolute best decision I could have made. I lost 60 pounds the first 4 months and now to date have lost 77.8 pounds. I would like to provide some information to help those who would like to read on. I followed my eatinfg plan to a "T" as I was serious about being a success and reaching my goal. 1. To those who say, "it is not a diet". It may well not be but here is the but: you need to change your eating habits; I have read so many posts from those who still continue to chose …

So, surgery is set for Tuesday. Getting cold feet...just a little. Not planning on chickening out or anything, but I have to ask this. So I've been on a liquid diet for 10 days or so. Down 16lbs. Hasn't been that difficult. I lost 110lbs. 5 years ago by dieting. (Then I gained back 124lbs.) I KNOW how to lose weight. Unfortunately, I can't keep it off. Gaining it back is far easier. Do I try once more to lose it on my own? I know I can do it. But, how will I keep it off? Probably a dumb question. I'm sure cold feet is common

So I was tired of having plain beef broth so I heated up some veggie beef soup and strained it. It is a bit thicker in consistency and boy did my sleeve let me know. I was getting a bit worried that I was taking liquids so well without any restriction. Good to have the confirmation....

Hello.... A year ago today I was banded.....and it has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family...It gave me back happiness that I didnt even know I was missing....now simple pleasures are getting dressed and not needing to sit down and rest...bending over tieing my shoes...wearing pants with zippers....buckelting my seat belt....fitting into a resturant booth...wanting to walk every day...loving how proud my husband and family are of me....not feeling like every one is looking at me as I walk into a room saying WOOO look how big she is....Having so much energy now..... Last year I was so ready to get this done I left for the hospital extra early an…

Hopefully this works. I just posted an album of me with before photos and progress along the way. I doubt I could ever fully describe how incredible this past year has been. My surgiversary will be on March 7th. I started my pre-op diet 2 weeks before at 286.2 lbs; as of this morning I now weigh 142.8 lbs. I really can't believe it myself. I am a Lapband revision and was told that I should expect to lose slower because of that. My hope was that at 1 year I would have lost 120 lbs or 10 lbs a month. VST has been a vital contributor to my success - both in reading the forums before surgery, after and hoping to contribute along the way (though I admit I have not…

Getting off blood pressure medication was my primary goal in having weight loss surgery. I want to be healthy and have a long life. Had surgery 2/4/13 (only 16 days ago). Including the pre-op weight loss, I have lost a total of 25 pounds! My surgeon advised almost immediate follow up with my primary care doctor to manage the medications with the weight loss. This week, I have been able to get off ALL my blood pressure medications! While I am still monitoring my blood pressure, I don't think I will have to go back on meds as I continue to lose weight. When my doctor's office called with the news, I had to shut my office door and cry. This almost feels like a dream…

First let me say thank you to those here who suggested measuring. Lately, the scale has been s l o w , just going down .1 or .2 at a time. But thanks to reading here that we should measure too. I did.......and although the scale is slow I lost 3 inches in my waist and 3 inches in my hips!! That's in just 10 days. Whoohoo!! I'm beginning to like exercising - don't think I've ever said that in my lifetime.

So I am 15 months post-op..... Just thought I would share my experiences and what life is like for me as a sleever in maintenance. I made my weight loss goal ( a very modest goal in fact...) at about 8 months out. So I have maintained my weight loss with ease for the last 7 months. I chose a higher goal than many sleevers for several reasons.... 1.) easier to maintain 2.) no lose skin. That's right people, I have no lose skin, my butt is still round and the girls are still perky! 3.) I am normal, curvy healthy and average. That's all I ever wanted! 4.) I wear normal sizes. I am in a 12 and as a nurse I wear medium scrub tops and large bottoms. I LOVE BEING NORMAL. (…

So I pulled out the one pair of pants I saved when I get all thin so I can show just how far I have come. I have currently lost 137# and my personal goal is 200# if my body will let me get there..so I had my daughter get in one leg and I got into the other..these used to be tight on me! I am a size 16 now these pants were a size 28. I am thankful I chose the sleeve..it's opened a world of possibilities! Added to post: I will be 11 months post op on March 3rd. 12 hours preop Me and my daughter in my old jeans Here I am by myself

Cannot believe it has taken me this long, but I think I'm finally getting over the nausea hump. It's still there and I still have a hard time stomaching my own saliva. Either have to swallow it with Water or spit it out. My sleeve is a little wuss right now. LOL. However, the nausea is only there half the time... Woohoo!! I feel that I can finally Celebrate my weight-loss.. 45 lbs in 6 weeks! I stayed the same for about a week, but that's likely because I was in starvation mode. Literally no food or Protein drinks since about 5 days post-op will do that to a person. That's 5 straight weeks no nutrients. I kept asking asking the doctors how I was alive. The 3 …

Someone brought up this question in another thread, and It made me want to share my Mom's story. She had stomach/ esophagus cancer 19 years ago. They basically removed a small part of her esophagus and 70% of her stomach. She went from 195lbs to 105lbs. She has not been over 108lbs since. (she happened to be a yo-yo dieter too) She says sometimes she struggles swallowing bread. NO cancer since. This procedure she had to remove the cancer is much like the procedure we all are having. And this weight loss has lasted 19 years. And she is healthy to this day.

I was always very thin until about ten years ago when I gradually started putting on weight. I'm a 55 year old female. Until I was about thirty I was very self conscious about being so thin. (5'6" 120 lbs). When i was in my mid forties, i experienced several life changing events that affected me greatly and I found comfort in food. Over the past ten years I've gained 90 lbs. and feel miserable in my body. I stopped working out and allowed thoughts of food to consume me. It seems it takes a ridiculous amount of food to feel satisfied and full. So the weight gain continues. I've tried several diet programs, traveled across the country to weight loss and fitness camps, only …

I just realized that I'm only 3 weeks into sleevedom and I've already lost a quarter of my excess weight and the inches are flying off. Best part is that I have SOOOO much energy. My toddler wakes me up around 5:30am and I'm up, moving about, walking 3-4 miles daily and living like a normal high energy person chasing a mini Tasmanian Devil until I pass out around 11pm. I am easily meeting my daily Protein and liquid goals. Life is good. Since I am a self-professed datawhore, I've been diligently tracking all my stats including measurements weekly since Jan 22nd, a week before my surgery. If you're curious or nosy (or both) - here they are: https://docs.google.com/spread…

Hi All, I rarely come on the forums anymore. It seems that, once I got past the really tough times with my band to sleeve revision I just drifted away. Anyway, I realized that I will be 2 years post-revision in a couple of weeks and I should probably report in and let the newbies know about my experience. If you want to know specifics about my surgery, you can look through my profile posts - it is hard for me to remember all the details now. I had a lap band for 4 years and it sucked. I got my lap band at 215 pounds and ended up at about 195 pounds and was gaining slowly on top of that. I couldn't eat chicken (did I mention the band SUCKED?). I wanted the band out, …

Only 19 lbs to goal! I will be seven months out on the 30th. 31 lbs of my loss was pre op. I am in shock. I have done so well. I make mostly good choices. It's getting harder but, NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS!! I have to get the exercise piece going and tone. I will have plastics in a few years. I am living and loving my life!! Here's a pic if my ticker and me and my son this morning. Happy Thursday everyone!!

Holy cow... I made it to the 50 pounds off mark... I started 12/26 with my 2 week pre-op and had surgery 1/8...I feel great. I have lots of energy and everyone around me can see that I'm walking taller than before.

When I drink water it makes me feel queesy...I don't know why..makes my tummy feels weird..I haven't been getting my fluids in ..because of it. The only drink I desire now is hot tea with cream. I didn't even like tea before. I can like feel water in my stomach..I don't know..I would have lost double if I would be able to drink my water!! Confused

I have a question for those of you who are 6 or more months out, where the weight loss is dramatic and showing. I imagine you have had a lot of people ask you about your weight loss and offer their (welcome or not so much) opinion. How do you reply to people who say: "But you weren't that heavy to begin with!" or "My (insert friend/relative) did that surgery and (insert complication)." or "I would never do that to my body!" I realize most of these comments are well-meant, or at least not born of maliciousness, so I want to provide a polite response that will not offend the person offering them. What has worked for you? Thank you!!!
-
At almost 3 years post op, it is still all about choices. The difference is this, now we really are in control, at least this is my experience. The cravings I had prior to surgery, aren't there anymore. Yes, I may WANT something or something might sound really good.....but I can resist, I can make wiser choices than I use to do. Do I ALWAYS resist you ask.....No, absolutely not. Dr. Davidson said this is NOT a diet, it's a way of life. Sometimes a piece of cheesecake sounds good, and I will share a piece with my daughter or husband. There was a time in my life when we'd each get our own, and resisting was almost painful, although some times I'd make the wise choice. …

The pink shirt pic was take around July 15 2012. The scrubs was taken on January 30th, my six month anniversary. I've lost 116 lbs. was a sz 24/26 now a 13/14. Lost lots of hair, still am but it's slowing. Having my first true stall. Gotta get that exercise piece going! Have lots of energy. Doing so many great new things. The simple NSVs are the best for sure! I only mildly dump, which kinda sucks. If i have too much of anything I get nauseous and tired. So I just gotta stay strong and diligent. Hope u all are well! I'm gonna try and get on here more and keep myself motivated. : )

Well today is my 2 week bandiversary and I had my official weigh in... I lost 20lbs total!! I'm so excited!!! Weight loss has slowed down since I'm on shakes but I know it will pick up once I eat food and start exercising! YES!!!

Hi all, I promised I would post when I reached 12 months out, so here it is...I started out at 240 (highest) and lost 4lbs on the pre op diet. My last weigh in was 169, for a total loss of 71 pounds in a year. I'm very happy with that, and the last few months have been slower in terms of loss, but it's still coming off, so I can't really complain. My birthday was on 2/14 and my husband surprised me with a birthday/valentine's day/belated honeymoon (we got married in 2009) trip to Kauai this past week, and I gained about 3.5lbs, but it was worth it! I'm already back on track with my eating and working out, so I'm sure that vacation weight will be gone in no time. My …

Hey all, I used to be fairly active on here but life has kept me busy! I'm not at goal yet (I'm still about 30 pounds away) but I just wanted to give an update plus some pics! Some NSVs: Can shave without it being a contortionist act. Those annoyingly tight squeezes in between two not completely pushed in chairs? Don't really bother me! I now look at a pair of pants or a shirt and think, "Oh geez, that's definitely not going to fit," and it does! I don't feel as subconscious at work, as if people are looking down on me because of my weight. Lost a whole shoe size and can now wear even more cute shoes! Having a size 10 shoe wasn't very fun. Can shop in the "normal…
