  1. Started by FoxyRoxy,

Ok so I had my surgery Oct 1 and have lost about 90 pds. Don't yet me wrong I am very happy about my weight loss but people have been telling me how great I look multiple times a day I cant go anywhere without someone stopping me and asking what I am doing and how great I look we live in a small community so people are talking. You would think this would make me feel good right but for some reason the first thing that I think is what I didn't look good before? By the end of the day I am very frustrated I am the type that likes to blend being overweight most of my life that is how I coped now what do I do? Yolo

I have finally arrived. My entire adult life I have been in the high 200's and low 300's. Being less than 200 lbs seemed like a pipe dream. The closest I ever came was in 2006 when I put myself on a strict 1200 calorie diet and started walking. By the end of 8 months I had lost 100 lbs and was walking 12K per day. Even then, I was 230 lbs. Then my mother died suddenly, my brother 5 months later and the stress just packed on the pounds. I gave myself permission to eat away the grief, and all it did was bring me more........ I had the VSG performed in Mexico in May 2012 and 2 days ago (Feb. 17, 2013), I finally reached that "impossible" dream: 199.7 lbs (and as o…

So I have had a bag of clothes that were too big for me....but I held on to them about 3 weeks after I bagged them up. I kept thinking "I paid a lot of money for those clothes, I dont want to just dump them off at Goodwill". So I found a lady that needed them....and today she came and picked them up. It was with mixed emotions that I handed her that bag! It wasnt just that i was giving away clothes that I paid a lot for, but clothes that I wore because nothing else fit me! I was attached to them, felt like I needed them! So handing her that bag meant no going back! Now I have some smaller size clothes that actually fit me (for now) and I love the compliments! But …

My surgery is scheduled in nine days. I am starting to get scared. Not really second thoughts, but maybe they are a little. I'm 38 years old. 6' tall & 331 lbs. BMI is 44. Reasons for sleeving.... 1. I have 5 young children, & want to be a role model for them. 2. I want to be able to be active with my children. 3. I want to look good & be desirable to my wife. 4. I, ME, THIS guy, wants to look good & feel good about myself. 5. I want to get rid of my Sleep Apnea. 6. My family has a history of diabetes & heart problems that I'd rather not get. 7. I don't want to die early. 8. I'm sick of getting winded walking up stairs. 9. I'm sick of being…

Im sure he will lose twice as much weight once he is post op and perhaps deal with his pain better than me...any advice you can give me as to how to help him while im still in recovery and not see this as a competition between us...im afraid I may get bitter seeing him lose so much weight in a shorter amount of time...

What an idiot!!! People are so dumb! I really do love sharing my story and educating people on this wonderful tool! xo Hilary

  15. Hey Guys, I just wanted to share a great day for me today. I had my surgery in December and have lost 50 lbs. I decided to enter a CrossFit competition today. It was tough with all these amazing athletes and over 1,000 spectators but I walked out proud and did it. I am 232.5 pounds now......I still have a ways to go, but I am on my way! Thank you all for all the support and great postings (the voice in the background is my moms voice, she is my biggest fan, lol) IMG_5263.mov

As of yesterday, my BMI was 29.8 which puts me out of the obesity category & into overweight. I was banded July 23, 2012 & my BMI the morning of surgery was 47.4. I have also kissed the plus size section of clothing stores goodbye!! I am so happy!! A year ago, I thought there was no hope for me, that I was going to live in obesity the rest of my life. Down 97lbs & just loving life. :-)

I was looking through old photos this morning and was struck by how much I've changed in a short period of time. May 2011 - February 2013 July 2011 - February 2013 But it goes beyond just physical appearance. Today I am all about being fit and feeling good, not some stupid number on a scale. I have avoided diabetes and high blood pressure which effects many in my family. I try new things, I am more confident, and I do not let size define me. Keep working hard and do this for YOU. You are valuable, capable, and beautiful whether you are 400lbs or 100lbs.

I am currently pre-op and am beginning my resolution of personal wellness. This includes spiritual and physical. I have made an initial goal to go to the gym tuesdays and wednesdays. At the end of the month, i want to reward myself for going twice a week. Since our goal is to avoid food rewards, i was curious as to how you reward yourself. My 100lb goal after surgery, hopefully 50 pre-surgery is to go zip lining. But my monthly goals need to me small and fairly inexpensive. So, whats your reward?

  23. I know it's a first world problem to complain about having to buy clothes to have them fit for about two months (with added alterations costs), but it has been a hassle and huge strain on my wallet since I usually wear suits to work. I've pretty much exhausted the range of sizes in my closet and am in need of a new set of clothes all together. This has forced me to get out and start shopping. Well...around the holidays I discovered that clothes at the big and tall store no longer fit me, but was discouraged that it was hard to fit into the next size down at Target or Kohl's (I refuse to buy at Nordstrom until I'm at goal). Now things are starting to fit! I picked u…

  26. I have some high profile meetings coming up this week, so I went shopping to pick up the proper attire. I found a dress shirt that I really liked, but it was marked as a slim cut. I tried on anyhow and it fit! I have shopped the big and tall section all my life, and tonight I bought clothes marked SLIM!!! When I started the journey a little over a month ago I was wearing 44 elastic waist band pants that had no stretch left in them, I bought size 38 tonight, and dress shirts with a size 18 neck. Size 18, I do not remember ever being able to wear a shirt that small, and there was plenty of room in the collar. Oh and guys, the rumor is right, the less fat you have, the …

It's been a while since I've posted a new topic. Life got busy when I started a new job about three months ago. Just here to motivate others just starting on their journey, either pre-op or just home from the hospital. I finally reached my goal weight last week, just 13 months after surgery. I met my doctor's goal weight (135) just before my surgiversary Jan 30. Technically, a stomach flu helped me get there faster than I would have liked The best news (as if goal weight wasn't enough) were the numbers on my labs. I was well within all the acceptable ranges and my cholesterol alone is better than it's ever been, even from when I was a teenager! My HDL was gone up, my L…

I see so many fellow 'sleevers' who are dedicated to exercise. If I were so inclined to be ashamed of myself, I would be!!! Someone had a 'confessions' topic......for me, it's being lazy, that is it, there it is, out there for all of you to see. I just posted somewhere else that I KNEW how lazy I am, I KNOW I have the attention span of a four year old and I KNEW if I incorporated exercise into my weight loss during the 'honeymoon' phase, I'd get bored and quit and gain some of the weight back. So, I had a 'Plan B' - and althought it might not work for everyone, so far, I've been successful. I knew that I'd have to make life syle changes.....I must make changes th…

So, I guess this is really an intro and status update. I'm Lexi, 37 married for the second time and have two amazing little boys from my first marriage. I think that my story is similar to most here, that i have struggled with my weight my entire life. Even when I was playing competitive tennis, I really wasn't ever NOT considered plus size. A few years back I was diagnosed with fibrmyalgia - a chronic pain disorder. I wanted to stay away from most of the meds as they packed on the weight, so I began a gym and healthy eating routine. That worked for about 2 years until I tore my ACL and was forced to go on the meds. 80 lbs later I made the decision to start on my WLS jour…

Owner said we have a small dressing room. Oh why not. It fit like a dream. So cute. Here I am a 66 year old grandmother buying a cute white dress at a boutique. Who would have ever figured??????

I am a month in a half post op and am feeling amazing. I have lost 31 lbs since my surgery and 54 with preop. My NSV occurred while talking to a coworker. I'm a very handsy person when I talk... The bracelet that I got 3 years ago for valentines day and had to make my husband take back to add links so it would fit came flying off while I was talking. I didn't even care that I almost lost it, I was so excited that it was to big. I'm on the next link and can still slip it on and off. It feels so good! Two years ago I could barely get on my bicycle let alone ride for more than a couple of kilometres. Now I am riding so far and so often that I decided it was time to be responsible and capable the next time I get a puncture. So today I spent almost 90 minutes on my knees in the workroom of my local bike shop learning how to change a tyre. I have blisters on my thumbs from pushing the tyre in but my knees DON"T hurt! And I know that when I set out for a 90+km ride on Friday, it won't matter if I puncture because I can just drop to my knees on the roadside, change my tyre and be on my way.
