80 pounds down today! This site was so helpful for me and I am so sorry to have taken such a long break. I guess what people said on here happened to me. I lost a lot of weight and started doing more. However I recognize that the strength of someone who has/is going through it is needed so I intend to be more regular...(haha pardon the pun some may GET). So thanks to all who helped me in the beginning and for those considering it-- get off the fence-- it's awesome!!

It was one year for me on march 20th. I lost 56lbs. I want to loose 20 more lbs but it seems harder now. I get really bad allergies and this caused me to get really tight, I had fluid taken out. Now that the swelling went down I'm hungry all the time. Can't wait to go get my fill.

I am very nervous about my pop/ soda habit. I currently drink at least 1 liter of soda a day. Its Diet Dr Pepper. I also love my coffee with French Vanilla International Delight creamer. Funny now that this is becoming real that I'm more worried about what I drink than what I eat??

When I left work yesterday I was hungery, like really hungry. I drink a bit of my Water and that helped. I had to go to the bank, but told myself I'd be fine. Well Dunkin Donuts is on my way home. As I sat at the stoplight across from it the thought popped in my head to stop in to DD and get a coffee and a donut on this cold blustery day. Then it was like a forhead slap- that said NO in my head. It hit me, I don't want sweet, I want protein!!! Odd- At one time that donut would have won out and then in like 30 min I would be hungry again. It is finally getting through my head that Protein is what I need and want and crave. Plus I was thirsty. When I got home …

Today for my birthday I got some great surprises... for one I fit into a smaller clothes size, two- I realized I have lost 50% of the weight I want to lose (halfway there!) and finally I was able to trade my size 9 wedding ring for a 7! My family also made me some great food...I had a Cobb salad..the real one (like the Brown Derby) where all the ingredients are super shredded/minced, a barbecue biscuit cup (old recipe my gmom made with ground beef, BBQ sauce and onions in a dinner biscuit and baked...a little more than a bite sized treat!) And for the cake we had mini brownie muffins with buttercream icing ( was like the size of a quarter...so cute and so tasty!)…

My surgeons scheduling secretary tells me he may not be able to sleeve me on the date we planned. Says he has one sleeve scheduled and a meeting that he must attend... But not until 230pm! I'm a doctor at the same hospital I'm getting sleeved at and I am trying to be understanding! Since I practice internal medicine I'm not very informed about how OR schedules are organized but I do have some insight and I am just hoping that something can be worked out. I went through great lengths to get time off for recovery which involved changing not only my schedules and clinics but as well as my colleagues! Aaaaagh. Send me good luck vibes please. I'm freaking.

I am very excited, headed to see my surgeon this afternoon. I haven't seen him since surgery and haven't weighed myself since pre-op, I have a gut feeling -literally that this will be good! The biggest thing I see is my tummy that used to be so boated and hard like I was fat and 9 month preggers. Is lets say a lot less out there! I used to drink 4-6 Diet Dr peppers a day and walked away from them completely (any carbonated drink) on 2/20) so if my weight loss "number" is not as great as I expect its ok I no longer look pregnant just fat LOL and I fully understand it took years to get that way and its going to take hard work and long time to get back. So Im celebrating tod…

My life changed on November 5th. I have always shy away from the camera so it was hard for me to find a before pic of me on my phone. The before pic has to be around my heaviest of 390 but surgery weight was 377. I am at 282 currently so a 95 lb loss. I hope the pics load

I think I'm eating that's y I'm stalling! Anyone else have this problem??? I had surgery 2/23 and I was 253 and now I'm 235 It's been two weeks and I'm not losing anything... Or if I lost I gained it right back and it sucks! I don't know maybe I need to close my mouth and exercise more. It's so hard because I didn't prepare to be on a diet or change my eating habits due to the fact that I had my surgery in Mexico

Hey everyone, I'm so happy today. I am finally out of the obese category! As of today, I am officially just overweight. My BMI has come down from 47 to 29!!! I really never thought I would make it this far! I'm so happy and thankful again to God for this blessing. I prayed so long for him to release me from the fat prison I was in. I say this a lot when I post. I know this wouldn't be possible without Him. On another note, I'm having gallbladder surgery on Thursday. BLAH!! I will be glad when that is over. I guess losing so much weight so fast burns up the thing!! I will post after to let everyone know how I'm doing! Pics below. I went to the beach this past week and I …

Hi All So I am getting ready for my work day and I had to run back to my bathroom to get something I forgot. I got a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I did a double take. So I snapped a picture. I was at my moms and she gave me the picture on the left. My jaw dropped. I was 317 or more in that picture. I can't even believe I let someone take that picture of me. I was definitely anti-pictures. I realized that before I had lapband surgery in Dec of 2012 that I had actually lost 40 lbs on my own. Needless to say I am very very pleased that I had this surgery performed. I have been keeping my calories under 1200 a day and been working out 4 plus times a week. …

Just wanted to make sure you knew that. Wherever you are on this journey, you are very special and totally unique right this moment. You have the right to love yourself and be patient with the process and find something today to reflect on and be happy. Make space for yourself, between this moment and the next is space, an option to create each moment. We cannot do it all the time. But what if you do it twice a day? Later, a few more, come back to it again and again? What a phenominal gift to give yourself. I want to share a dream I had with you. Just you. Everyone else can read it, but this is for YOU. I dreamed I walked into a room, and was just amazed at what I …

Certain times of the month? There are times when I can barely eat and other times I feel like I'm eating more. I'm seven months out. Not eating slider foods. High protein and veggies. Also, noticed sometimes I'm hungrier than other times. Just wondering if it's something other people have experienced.

I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm excited about my weight loss so far. I am very happy about my decision to have VSG. I feel so much better. I'm thoroughly enjoying this process. Here are some pics. This first pic is me a couple years ago at nearly my highest weight of 274 (on the left) and me a couple weeks ago at around 230 (on the right). This pic is me in May of 2012 at my highest weight of 274 (on the left) and me yesterday at 227 (on the right)

My surgiversary was March 13, 2013. I've lost 100 lbs. Went from 260 lbs to 160 lbs. Size 24W to size 12/14 ladies/13 juniors, 2x tops and bottoms to Med tops and large bottoms. Measurements bust/waist/hips 42/42/53 inches to 36/32/38. I'm 5'2'' with a current BMI of 29 down from 48. I have 24 lbs to get to a "normal" BMI I'm 10 lbs away from my personal goal of 150 lbs. I'm eating between 900 and 1100 cal per day aiming for 60 g of Protein and 60 g of carbs. I can eat most foods, slowly. I'm having a more difficult time avoiding snack foods. My mind/mirror image has not caught up with my current weight (I still feel very fat and see a fat girl in the mirror) S…

I had my surgery on 11/12/12 and so far I am down 65 lbs.... The first 20 lbs fell off in the first week and a half!!! I am really loving the results so far, I have gotten to a plateau because I have dropped so much so quickly that I don't want to lose too fast and have hanging skin.... I just found this page and I am going to enjoy talking to everyone here and hearing and sharing stories!!!

Hi all I'm 3 weeks post up and have lost 20 pounds through drinking shakes . As soon as I hit purée stage I stalled. I'm eating eggs for Breakfast a shake for lunch & I purée what ever my family is eating for diner for myself.usually rice and a casserole or ill have a Soup. I know I'm not eating enough Protein, any suggestions on puréed protein? Also I'm walking 20 minutes a day . My stats are Pre surgery 246 Post surgery 224 I have also lost 6 inches. I think my loss so far has been good, but no it could be better if I eat more protein. Thanks Simone

I normally don't take baths because my hips touch both sides and the water from my hips to head gets cold unless I pull my body out of the water now & then. Anyway, I poured a bath for my little one not knowing she was already clean, so I got in instead. Guess what? There was a good 3-4 inches between each hip and the sides. I could see over half a foot of space with my body against one side. Needless to say, I stayed in the bath until we ran out of hot water. Holla!

It seems that everyone gets different instructions on what diet you follow once you can eat. BMI of Texas instructs that you do not count calories, only carbs. No more than 30 grams of carbs a day until you reach goal weight, then they will slowly add in more carbs to see how many your body can tolerate without a gain. Basically you can eat all the protein you want (which of course is not much) and non starch veggies. I am totally okay with this though. Anyone get anything different?

Once on the pre op diet, I decided to start watching Dr. Oz every day to get in a dose of "healthy inspiration". He does support bariatric surgery - I think the episode is titled "The Underperformed Surgery You Should Be Having" (saw on YouTube, not recent) and it made me feel better about my decision. Anyhow, after months of watching, I have to laugh as the information is so contradictory. Depending on his guest and topic/health issue, you should or should not eat fish or meat of any kind, should or should not eat soy, Vitamins are necessary yet bad for you, milk is good/milk is bovine slime and all dairy is bad, zinc and Iron we must have, yet metal minerals cause…

Hello everyone. This is my first time on here since my March 4th surgery. Thought I'd fill everyone in. The surgery day and hospital stay were great!.....till the male nurse with the cologne came in to give me my discharge papers! Holy cow! I have never had a scent make me soooo sick, soooo fast. The Dr's had to give me 3 nausea medications before I could leave. I then had a horrible first week with nausea, no more vomiting, thank goodness. After I got over that, everything has been going good. I passed the Barium Swallow with no leaks!!! The pureed diet is going good also. Can't wait till Wed, so I can go to the soft food stage. I return to work in 1 week al…

As a continuing struggle to maintain my post op weight, I just learned of this today, although some of you may already know about it. It seems Panera has a "secret" menu. You won't see it listed in the restaurant. You have to tell the staff you're ordering from the "Hidden Menu." There is a handful of very low carbs, high Protein options that look really good. Just ask the sever about the hidden menu. http://mypanera.panerabread.com/arti...s-hidden-menu/ Lash

As many of you know, my weight lately has been hanging around the same number. I broke into the 160's about 5 weeks ago and stayed at 169 for three weeks, then dropped to 166.5 and have been there for two. It just seems like this stall lasted longer and was immediately followed by another stall. I was feeling a little down yesterday when I realized it was time to measure. I measure every two weeks. Lo and Behold I am down 2 inches in the hips and one in the butt and also a half in my thighs! IN TWO WEEKS! No weight change either. Baffleing. I even measured twice. How can this be? I dont know but I will take it. I guess all that zumba and walking with a weighte…

I have been swamped with school this semester, so I haven't been on the forums yet, but I just wanted to share a new picture now that I'm finally down over 100 pounds. I have about 35 left to lose, and I'm hoping in the next couple months I'll be able to amp up my working out so I can get those pounds off. I have never felt better =) The first picture is presurgery, then two of me down 76.2, then one of me down about 117. I'm currently at 205, down from 325 to start. Sorry for all the mess in the background of the most recent - My boyfriend had a bunch of laundry that we finally got through last weekend! Hope everyone has been doing well!
