1 year ago my heart was broken because my insurance decided to fight me on surgery. I damn near gave up. Luckily I am too stubborn for that. Feb 14th I had lap band surgery..I lost 12 lbs during my pre op diet. Fast forward to today. I was a little up and down in the beginning, but on the day of surgery I weighed 405 lbs. Today I weigh 374. so total weight loss from Pre Op (Jan 31st) is 43 lbs! I have only had one fill and it was 2 ccs..Definitely no restriction yet...but I am losing about 1lb a week right now...Im losing..thats beautiful!!! I am down from a size 28 to a size 24 pants..I went from a 3x-4x shirt to a 2x in all shirts...spanks are the BEST invention …

I was very happy with my loss until today!! Summer is here and i admit that i want to show off my body when i am with friends at the beach, i havent noticed how much loose skin i have until i tried a bikini on... OMG what an emotional wreck i was! I hate my body, I hate being 70 pounds less... I hate my body, I want to be back where i was all tight and smooth looking. No 20 year old body should look like this. The scenario i have in mind: Friend of friend: Oh hi, nice to finally meet you... So tell me about you, how many children do you have? children can ruin your body but they are worth it right? ME: UMMMM... YEA, I HAVE NEVER BEEN PREGNANT BUT I HAD 3 BABIES WO…

I am 4 months out and down 69lbs! I love how I can sit in a chair cross legged and still be comfortable, or I can fit back in a booth while eating out. Or how about the fact that the hubby can put his arms all the way around me with room to go!! What little things have you noticed?

Was too happy to throw this outfit on... I never even imagined being able to wear something like this... And other news, I'm almost down 90lbs!!!!!!!!!! lbs to go before I reach onederland!!!!!

I've plateaued for over a month, and instead if feeling down about it, I wanted to share a little about how my life has changed in the past 3 months: * Went from a 4x to a 2x in tops * Went from a 26/28 to a 22 in bottoms * I can fit in chairs with arms * I can fit in a stadium seat * I can fit in a movie theater seat * I can fit in a restaurant booth * I went roller skating * I can run after my 4 year old at the park * I don't sweat profusely anymore * I can use a backseat seatbelt, and fit in the backseat of a car * Training for a 5k. What?!! * I can still breathe when I bend over to tie my shoes * I put a recent picture of myself on Facebook, lol I know …

I have a closet full of clothes ranging from size 8 to 22W. I have been saving all of my skinny clothes thinking I'd get back into them some day. Well, I'm down 3 sizes so far and last night I decided to try on some of the clothes that have been sitting in my closet for at least 8 years. YUCK! The waist band went clear up to my boobs. Did I really wear that style back then?! All I could hear in my head was MOM JEANS! So, needless to say, not only am I getting rid of my fat clothes, I'm clearing out all of the old skinny clothes too. Buh-bye crazy out-of-style clothes. Time to shop!

I had my surgery on Feb 27, my hw was 265 sw 259 (no pre op diet) cw 232. and at my last count a week ago I had lost 20.5 inches My weight loss seems like its slower than others. Although I am very happy to have lost 33 pounds and 20.5 inches. I lost 20 some of that my first month, this month April, I have lost maybe the other 13, and I am hoping for to get in to the 220's before May 1. My goal is to be under 200 by August, which is my birthday, which gives me 3 months. Actually my dream would be to loose 45 lbs in the next 3 months, so about 15 pounds a month, not sure if thats realistic. I have a sleeve of steel unfortunatley, I can eat almost anything. At first not…

I got my hair cut at gene Juarez today at the mall. First time spending that much on a haircut. I got the popular cut like Aaron Eerkhart (sp?) as president on "Olympus has fallen." It is for my WLS Center photoshoot tomorrow. Anyways, I am getting checked out left and right walking down the mall, even with my wife at my side. I don't know whether to enjoy this or not, but secretly liking it. Boosts my ego a little. Lol. Not used to it, but hey, not too bad. Don't know if it is all haircut or partly from all the strength training over last 2 months. Either way, it is all good...

So I am a couple days past my 4 month mark and so far so good, although, as expected, the losses are slowing. Down to about 2 lbs per week. I started at 317, was 205 lbs this morning. Thats 50 lbs pre-op from the beginning of March through the end of July, including the 2 week pre-op diet that shed 20 of thos 50, then another 62 lbs so far post-op. I feel good and have had a lot of people tell me not to lose more but I still want to get to my goal of 185 by the 6 month mark. Not sure if I can get there with the slow pace but close is good enough for me!!! The first pic is a picture of me at my sister in law's wedding in the last week of February and this is me just…

I am able to eat on some days up to about 6 oz. at a time. Today was only able to get 3 oz of chicken in at lunch. But I do have days where I can take in more. Is this normal? Any feed back would be great!

Hi everyone! I just realized that it was a year ago today that I booked my surgery in Tijuana with dr. Ponce de leon, so I thought I might share some before and after pictures! So far I am down 98 lbs (got to 100 almost a month ago, but ended up putting a few lbs back on, not sure how!) Things have been pretty slow over the last few months, but I feel great! I am so grateful to have met the people I've met along the way (I've got three wonderful sleeve sisters, and the most wonderful coordinator, Trish) I can't wait to see what the next year brings! So here I am at the hospital on the morning of my surgery, May 10th 2012. 371lbs And here I am in March, at 1…

Okay, probably a good question for dr but thought I would run it by you guys. Since surgery I am NEVER thirsty anymore. EVER!! Not after an hour after eating, not after working out. NEVER. Gotta force myself to drink. Anyone else have this issue????

A little over 7 mths post op and down 150lbs. I pluged it into my shape up ap and it put me under 30% fat for the first time in my memory. Im at 208 heading for 170. All of a sudden 38lbs don't seem too daunting. Oh and I wore size 36 jeans last night on an outing with my work mates.

Some friends and my husband went to Cheesecake Factory last night. Don't get excited, I scoured the nutritionals and finally found a appetizer salad for 390 cal. It was not easy to find something if you go there but it was very good. Now to my NSV. My husband and I were sitting in the booth part of a table that had two chairs and no one was sitting next to me on my side. Later I needed to go to the rest room. I carefully got up and before weight loss I had to turn sideways and be very careful that my big butt did not land on the other people's table. Last night I walked out straight on. No sideways, no getting in people's food. It was great.

I was sleeved on August 17th and coming up on my eight-month surgiversary. So far I've lost 90 pounds. I'm so excited that I have lost 90 pounds. I feel better than I have in a long time, I am in the smallest of my small-clothes-reserve (we all have them, right?), but I have hit a serious stall. I know that stalls are normal, but this stall has been going on for months, since January (it's April now). There's no way that I would be "done" losing yet, right? I'm totally grateful for 90 pounds, but seriously...I'm still 90 pounds from my goal! Has anyone had this kind of stall? Any help and advice anyone can offer would be awesome! Thanks!

I started this journey in October 2012. This has been a strenuous process! There have been a lot of ups and downs and I hope they were worth it! I'm a state employee and this is their first year covering WLS. I had a 6 month weight management program requirement with 3 months being consecutive. My physicians office is unsure of what the insurance's mindset is regarding approval as there has been a lot of back and forth surrounding the requirements! I'm praying that God sees me through this 2 week waiting period! I got and email from insurance coordinator today starting that my request for surgery wasn't submitted until today! She stated that there were technical diffic…

So I am two months out and I have gone from eating 3oz of shrimp to maybe 2oz. I don't think it is increased restriction, but maybe my nerves in my tummy aren't as numb anymore. Also lost 40 lbs in two months.

I went to buy new bras and some new work tops today. When I got home my fiancé was being a good sport and looking at my findings. He looked at me and said "your cloths are getting so tiny!" Made my week!!!!

Had a CT scan done found a possible fatty liver, probably due to rapid weight loss . Ok has anyone else experienced this? Also was told I have a small umbilical hernia , also result off weight loss. I'm waiting to hear back from my surgeon . Any feed back from anyone would be great .

I'm booked in for 29th April, and feeling v wobbly right now. It seems such a drastic thing to do. Although I have only about 70lb to lose, I have a growing list of weight related health problems that are really affecting my personal and work life, and an awful family history of early death from cancer and heart disease. I'm not a junk food eater but I do love food... and drink and entertaining. So does my hubby but he just doesn't seem to gain weight. I read someone call her VSG "the end of (her) love affair with food", and while that's probably what I need, I'm really hoping that down the track there'll be some enjoyment of food again. Can any long termers out ther…

I've had huge NSVs the past 3 months (no longer pre-diabetic, 104/64 BP, great labs, fitting into my husbands jeans!), but today is all about celebrating numbers. Some FAQs before the numbers... I track everything weekly on Thursday (my surgery day) including weight and all measurements. I also weigh on Monday to get an overall feel for how I'm doing that week to see if I need to have a few strict days. For me, I tend to obsess and think more about food if I'm tracking, so I don't track what I'm eating. I estimate my Protein amounts and drink at least 60 ounces of Fluid (at least 40 ou water) I do follow a plan of eating that has worked for me though. I eat from a sele…

I'm wondering what weight people use to celebrate from. I am -thisclose- to being 100lbs down from my heaviest, but I'm not sure if I should wait another 20 lbs beyond that to celebrate my "OH MY GOSH I LOST 100 POUNDS!!!" to get to 100lbs less than my surgery weight. Any ideas or suggestions? What did you do? For the curious folks in the back, I am 5'10", 25 years old, my highest weight was probably 330lb, surgery weight was 310lb, I now weigh 237.5lbs. I am 5 months out from my 11/16/2013 sleeve.

So, i thought this is a NSV that i should share with everyone. Before surgery my insulin level was very high, it was 33.4 (normal insulin levels range from 4.8 and 27.8) today, (almost six months post op)... my insulin level came out to be 7.8!!!! I was so happy i cried... no meds needed and no more worrying about my health. I am as healthy as any normal person now. Oh and my doctor wants to keep checking my insulin cause he is afraid that it might go below normal level (go figures) lmao. Anyways, good luck everyone and thank you for reading my post.

I had a late night where my sleep length was 3 hours for a demo I had to give at work today. Anyways, not only do I feel like a bad hangover all day, but I am getting the crazy carb craves!! Not giving in, but it is kind of hard. Be sure to get your sleep or you may be sabotaging yourself. It is far easy to be at ease around food when well rested. Sigh, the older I get, the less I can get away with less then 8 hours of sleep. Just thought I would put this out there in case anyone needs to hear it. *sorry, posted in wrong forum*

Hi all, I know this sounds weired, but I'm suffering from an insanely itchy head , yet when I scratch I can nearly feel my scalp. I had my sleeve 6 weeks ago, I'm wondering if anyone else is having this weired sensation? Could it have something to do with the hair loss that sometimes occurs post surgery?

I got a pm this morning from a member here who brought this to my attention. Are some of the medications we are on making us slow losers or making us gain some weight? She said she was on a sleep aid that her Dr. put her on and come to find out that medication was also used to help someone gain weight. She has been taking this medicine for 7 years, exactly around same time she started gaining weight. She has now chaged medications. This might need to be something to look into if maybe your stalled, or not losing weight. Check your medications.

Hello! I'm so glad I found this form! I been reading for a couple week. I've talked about having weight loss surgery for the past 2 years and the last couple months I guess you would say I've hit rock bottom. I attended my first seminar class and it only pumped me up even more. I'm still waiting for the doctors office to call me back with a consultation with the surgeon. Luckily they have been wonderful with trying to fit all my appointments in on one day since I'm traveling 4 hours. Before the seminar I was dead set on having the lap band because I was terrified to have most of my stomach removed. I had this thought that what happened if I get sick and something…

Hi Everybody, I've been silent for a long time. Over the Xmas holidays I had some setbacks, not the band, only me and life. I'm back on track and have reached the important intermediate goal of Onederland. My emphasis for now is Protein first. I'm hoping for some visual changes soon and dumping most of my larger clothes. At half-way through my weight loss journey I need to keep up the momentum. Do any of you have anything to say to help me stay successful? thanks, the laughing cat

Debbie and I have spent the last few weeks helping my brother-in-law and dear friend who is in his 80's deal with a blood build up in his brain caused by a fall. I have held him up, picked him up, and generally guided him through his days before he went into surgery. Now we are at the hospital every day helping him and my sister-in-law cope with the ordeal. Debbie is out today doing her sister's job, cleaning houses, so her sister can stay with her husband in the hospital and still have an income. My friend, his wife, daughters and other relatives cannot thank us enough for our love and care for him. We deem it our great privilege. Over a year ago neither Debbie nor I …
