HI everyone! Just wanted to come on here and do a quick introduction. My name is Jessica, I just turned 24 years old. Live in the wonderful city of San Francisco. I am 5'2, and I've dealt with weight issues my whole life. I've also been yo-yo dieting for the past 10+ years. Even on the "smaller" side of WLS, I've still developed weight induced health issues. I truly am ready to take control of my life. I love my body and I love myself. I owe it to myself to be heathy. I was banded on Thursday August 9, 2012. The day of surgery was realllllly rough, but I had my wonderful boyfriend and my mom to take care of me. It is Saturday, and I am still in pain, but with every …

I'm in such a weird place. I came home and laid on my bed where I've laid the past 4 months counting the days til surgery. The night before it felt like I was on speed I was so excited. Today I laid down and thought- now what. There's almost this sense of let down. It's weird. Anyone else experience this? I'm really sore and feeling a little crummy. Just took my pain meds and am hoping to get some sleep tonight. Michele

Hello! My struggle is similar to many I have read here. I've been obese since I was 10, lost and gained portions of weight. Have always thought I will be able to do it some day. Try, try again right? I recently got what I consider 2 taps on the shoulder. Tap 1: At a funeral of a doctor who was an amazing man, a speaker challenged us all to use Dr. Jim's death of a wake-up call for our health. We could honor him, but honoring ourselves. Made me think about how I needed to actualize this. Tap 2. I switched primary care physicians, and the new doctor asked me "You've been severly overweight for 40 years and keep trying. Do you really think you can do it with just…

I went shopping for some jeans because of course I can't really fit into my old ones. THEY ARE TOO BIG!! I went into the regular area where I haven't been in years and found things that fit. I am wearing a 14/16 top which is fine and a size 18 pants. I feel beautiful. Not trying to brag, but I haven't felt this good in a loooooong time. I can feel the goal coming.

Hello all. My name is Fatima and I live in NJ. Last month on July 19th I got the lap band done by a doctor in Jordan. Prior to surgery I was 235 lbs. I am now down to 220 lbs. I have a few questions: I came home to NJ last Monday and since then I have not lost any weight. Is that alright? Also, I'm wondering what exercises are most effective. When I wake up I don't feel like eating at all. When I do eat my Breakfast (and I really don't even eat much) I feel full after a few bites. Is that normal? I've also been watching what I eat, however this week I started crunching on some bad chips. It's a snack size bag and prior to my surgery I used to eat the big ba…

Hello! I'll start with the basics... I'm 24 years old, fought with my weight pretty much all my life, and decided to do something about it while I still have so much life ahead of me. I'm engaged, and we're going to wait until I get the bulk of my weight off to get married. I'm really looking forward to actually looking decent in a wedding dress and marrying my best friend of 7 years  The last few days have been rough. I don't ever want to look at another Protein shake ever again, but know I *need* to be drinking them to keep nourished. My doctor put me on a 2 week full liquids, 2 week pureed post-op diet, and I'm really burnt out on what to eat. Plus, all this dow…

So I had my sleeve Monday July 23rd. The hospital stay was not bad. However if you have it a OLOL you have to remind them to feed you and sometime remind them to give you your meds. This is typical there. Otherwise my doctor was great and before the surgery the nurse was great. I have had a hard time with the amount of food my body will allow. I could never tell if I had had enough or to much. But I never got sick, so I assume I eating enough. The last two days I have also had a hard time drinking all the protein that is required. But all in all it hasnt a bad experience. I have read a lot of the threads on this app and they have been helpful. Broth, sugar free jello…

Don't know if this fits here but.... Had my surgery and all went well. LOVE my sleeve. I am down 70+ pounds but still have more to go. My doctor does a liver biopsy automatically with weight loss surgery. It came back with some iron staining and at my first vitamin level check my iron was 3x what it should have been. He questioned it but talked to the pathologist who just passed it off as "sometimes that happens with metabolic syndrom patients." Well I have lost a good deal of my weight but my iron levels are still way too high and the doctor says a probably have hemochromatosis. It is a hereditary condition that increases iron absorbtion. The extra iron destroys you…

I was sleeved june 25. I had a dr appt this past monday and id lost 57lbs. My dr and nut expressed concern that i may be developing an eating disorder. I will only eat baked chicken breast, cooked spinach, small pieces of sharp cheddar cheese, and of course my protein shakes and water. I expressed my concern to my dr that I have developed a phobia around trying new foods because im one of the few sleeve patients that actually " dumps". He insisted that my fears are red flags to the onset of a possible eating disorder and that I need to work towards developing a healthy relationship with food. I am seeing my therapist next tuesday because I know that if my husband and ki…

I am anxious, the last few days I've been getting my home in order doing laundry, cleaned my bed and bathroom. I finish up at work tomorrow and I will be off til 8/28, today I plan to do some shopping for some easy accessible foods. My doctor said I will come home straight to puree so I'm going to get some yogurts, cottage cheese, baby food, broths, and of course Protein drinks. I was told as long as it is <5 grams of sugar I will be ok. I am so ready. Although, I no any of you guys, please keep me in prayer. Sharon x

Still feeling great and down 50 was 205 now 155. Looking pretty good for 5'0 and can wear a 6 now from American Eagle. I want to lose 20 more for sure. Maybe 25 depends how I look and feel when I get there. Honestly this has been the best thing for me. I still do eat what I want in very small portions of course. I mostly stick to portein first but if I want cake or chocolate I HAVE IT! Just alittle and I don't eat that every day of course! But I don't deprive myself. Sure if I ate ONLY what I am supped to 100% of the time and exercised way more than 2-3 times per week that im squeezing in the past 3 months I'd probably be at goal now but I'm happy the way it's going and…

Hello! This is my first post, but I've been reading up for about a week now. A little about me...I turn 40 later this month and I can't remember a time that I wasn't overweight. I wasn't always obese, but could always stand to lose weight. Over the years, I have dieted my way to obesity. My story is not unique...I, like most of you, have tried so many diets including Fen Phen, WW, HMR, Jenny Craig, Atkins, exercise, B12/6 injections, etc. Sure I've lost weight, but it has always come back...plus some. For years, I said I would NEVER do WLS. Yep, never say never! Today, here I am praying for insurance approval. I have Cigna PPO and have fulfilled all of their requireme…

I've been stalking bariatric surgery forums and YouTube channels for about a year and a half. I finally decided this was right for me and have started the process. I've gotten my referral, gone to the seminar, and have my appt with the surgeon on the 16th. After about 4 different calls to Tricare, speaking with my pcm, her calling the medical directer, and what my surgeon's office is saying I decided to start a medically supervised weight loss attempt (again). They can't seem to agree on if I need to have a medically supervised weight loss attempt, the length it needs to be or the time that has passed since I've tried. So I give. I'm just going to cover my bases. …

I was banded in February 2008. I blew that. I lost like 24 pounds. Then in June 2011, I was having problems. I had upper GI test and hiatal hernia. When I had surgery for that, he did a band revision. I said this is it.... Time to shine! NOT! I have two of my grand kids and it is hard when they want something for me not to dig in. I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and plantar facciitis. It is hard for me to move with pain and exhaustion. The meds I take cause weight gain!! I actually gave up. I stopped going for fills. I was due last month and said what's the point. I need help!!

Hi! I am very new to this and actually just booked my consultation for the beginning of September, so I am full of questions. One of the things I'm worried about is as I lose weight is that the port will be visable? Wandering if anyone has any issues with that? I also live in Canada and wandering if anyone else does? Because I am sure that the programs might be a little different. I'm only 22 so this is the biggest decision I've had to make so far in my life. I work at a care facility and my job is very physically demanding, a lot of people seem to go back to work pretty quickly. Anybody else in a similar line of work? I know everyone heals differently, but I am constantl…

Hi all... Since I'm reading I thought I would introduce myself. My surgery date was April 7, 2009. My highest weight was 320, surgery weight 270, lowest 160, current 190ish. During the first two years I was able to be active and 'exercise'... Now I drive truck (with my husband who also had RNY) and have been having several challenges with eating, and especially exercise!! My daughter pointed this forum out to me. I use to be very active on two different forums, but due to time constraints, I don't participate like I use to... So I will most likely lurk for the most part, but every now and again I might toss in my two cents worth.

Hey everyone! I am new to this site...I have been a part of the RNY talk for about 4 months now and love it. Through this whole process I was positive I wanted the gastric bypass until I got to my appointment and my surgeon said she thought the sleeve was a better option for me bc I am so young there's no point in cutting my intestine. If anyone could give me any information or tell me ur success story would be awesome...I have to make a decision in the next few days and I feel like im going into this blind now because I don't know anything about the sleeve.

I'm having my surgey done by dr. Kozar at western bariatrics surgical group and he told me that it would take 4-6 weeks until I have my surgery not to happy right now, I hope to get all of my other appointments done by 2 weeks and have the surgery sooner. But do I need a letter from the nutritionist saying I saw them? And how do they know if you went to a seminar for gastric bypass? And did anyone's surgeon make them pay for the pre op liquid diet foods they have at there office?
