I explained things in the "My Story" section of my Profile.

If you're interested...

Polly,

I'm a big Agatson fan myself. South Beach helped keep me from obesity through the 90's and into the 2000s. Sadly my knees gave out and I've had this desk job for 11 years so I got fat.

So, you come to the forum with body function and nutrition knowledge which is wonderful. So many patients do not understand how and why their bodies react to their food choices. You should do great.

You are so incredibly brave for sharing your story and you're a true inspiration. So many of us (myself included) struggle with food addiction yet it seems so few are willing to deal with it let alone admit it.

You should be very proud at how far you've come. I have no doubt you'll be successful this time around. Keep posting, I can't wait to watch you lose the weight and succeed :)

How have you done since June????

Thanks for asking! Overall, I'm doing pretty well. I've lost 17 or 18 pounds since July. I don't remember seeing them in June. I've adapted to my diet better than I thought I would, however I still have some bumps in the road every so often. I talk them out with my therapist. Of course, she's not in the room when I'm having a wicked case of the Head Hungers. I see my NUT in September, hopefully I'll have lost a good amount by then. (My scale shows all different weights sometimes, so I don't always know what I weigh. ) I'm doing my best, thats about all I can say! :)

I'm sorry to hear of your knee problems, I know it makes a huge difference in your daily function and weighs heavily on the mind. I had both of my knees replaced this past year and my weight is making them hurt really bad, even though they should feel better. I stopped going to the gym, which really bothers me, but I can't seem to do the exercises I'm supposed to. My knees don't rotate enough to use a recumbent bike. And walking is real painful. But I gotta do it eventually.

Well that body function and nutrition knowledge is reletively new to me, but I read and re-read Agatston to help me out. I see a lot of people eating junk, but just less junk, and that's not good. On top of losing the weight, you need to eat the right food for life longevity too!

Good to see another Agatston fan! :D

Well thank you mis73, that means a lot coming from you. I really look up to you!

Food addiction is a very serious issue that needs to be accepted as an Addiction, just like alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc. Well, they're different, but they're an addiction none the less. If we could only get the professionals to recognize food addiction, then maybe people would come out of the woodwork, and maybe be less ashamed. It's nothing to be ashamed about!

I can't wait to see me lose weight too! :D And it WILL happen. I am in control.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
