I'm still in the liquid stage but I still have so much gas by just drinking water... I also still get queasy when I'm drinking anything as well. I'm a week and a day post-op and it's getting so frustrating. It's impossible for me to get in 64oz or even 75g of protein because of the gas and queasiness.

Six months of nutrition classes completed, appointment with dietician and shrink completed, now just waiting for surgery on Aug. 29. Excited and nervous all in one. I've been eating tons of stuff that I may never eat again...hate that insanity. Need this lifesaving tool badly. I'm ready to let the changes begin now!

  5. Started by COsleeveDude,

Hey folks, I am new here. I was sleeved in CO by Dr. Chae on July 17. I am down 17 lbs since surgery with zero complications. I can barely even tell I had it done, save for the lack of energy, scars and feeling full much faster. I also got in decent cardio shape and lost 38 lbs from April-July before the surgery, which I am very glad I did. I attribute the smooth surgery and recovery to that as well as the experience and skill of my surgeon and the hospital staff. Good luck to everyone pre and post-surgery. J

  6. That's my situation. I had the sleeve in November 2011. If has what they call a stricture so the only way to repair is just to bypass it. Any suggestions? I'm 92 pounds lighter than when I started this journey mostly because I can eat nothing. Comes back up because it can't travel down the stomach. Ready but nervous!

Long story short, I've always been a healthy guy. Division one athlete, MMA fighter, husband and father of 3. However life, compound fracture of the Right knee and ACL/MCL/PCL tear in the left equaled no more cardio and my weight got over 300 lbs. I coach high school and youth football but found that I just couldn't do much of anything due to my knees. Add hypertension and my health was in the dumps. This surgery has been the boost I need. My motivation wasn't a particular size or weight; just being healthy. I had surgery on 7/19/12 and have begun the road to a healthier - better life!

food Unfortunately has served as an addiction for all of us for way too long. Food served some sort of purpose, for me, I was never in control of anything, I was emotional, and physically abused all my life, and food was always there to make me my tummy feel warm, and a sense of fullness from something. It was my gateway to happiness. There was nothing I could control being a child in a well to do home that kept the abuse hush hush, even from other close family. I learned that when my dad was eating, he was happy, and this was the only time I did not have to hear the yelling or see the abuse, so I would eat and eat and eat, and I would never want to be done. Then as my b…

I remember reading alot of other people's post when they had hit their 1 yr surgiversary and thinking to myself..."What will that be like for me?" Will I have been successful (finally) after so many failed attempts. I really did not have the emotional strength left anymore. I really had given up on weight loss by the time I discovered VSG. I have a rare liver disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. The medicine I take to slow the disease progression down makes it challenging to lose weight. The disease also causes fatigue that resting does not alleviate. You just have to manage it. My hepatologist told me that if I continued to be obese that it would hurt my chances of …

I am an emotional eater and I know that it is going to be a challenge to find another way to manage my emotions. I’m hoping that by becoming more proactive in EVERY aspect of this “banding process” that I’ll have success! Here’s a little mini-bio on me: I’m 27 years old. I will be 28 sooner than I’d like! *haha* I was banded (I hate that terminology, it sounds like torture) on August 14th, 2009. It will be three years in a couple weeks! I wish I could say I’ve been successful, but I haven’t been. I was 309 at the time of my surgery and I am now 275. So that means I’m down 34 pounds. Just recently I have moved to a new area, got a new Dr. and …

Sounds crazy, but I am excited and scared at the same time. So many people I have spoken with who have had RNY have said that they hated themselves before their surgery and weight loss. Being a RuPaul fan, I truly believe his saying: "if you can't love yourself, how the h*** you gonna love somebody else?" With that being said, I have never hated myself, no matter what size I was/am. Did I dislike the way I looked and felt ... Oh, heck yeah! Did I hate the people who gave me the "you would be beautiful if you just lost some w…

I am so happy that I have made this decision but I am also feeling really impatient and I want it NOW. I return to work tomorrow (I am a teacher) and I really wish I wasn't going back as I look now. I will turn 32 in a week and I have 2 kids, 6 and 10 months old. My story is that I have always struggled with weight. In the past 8 years I have been between a size 12-20. I haven't "recovered" from either pregnancy, meaning I have never lost all the weight I gained. It is NOT as easy as I thought it would be to lose the baby weight and I have the body type…

I just had my second surgery to get the sleeve and again I woke up to find out that I did not get it. I was a lapband patient for 5 years and this past February I decided to revise to the sleeve. I went to Mexico for the revision. They removed the band and said that there was too much scar tissue to go ahead with the sleeve. I had to come home and heal for 5 months and come back to finish the sleeve procedure. So I went back this past Saturday to finish what I started. I asked the Dr. before the surgery if there was any chance of me waking up without the sleeve this time....he said "not a chance". Well I woke up and asked the nurse if I got the sleeve. She said "Y…

My doctor told me it was basically 2 separate surgeries for her I was released from the hospital on 7/26 at 7pm on a pureed diet.
