Hi!

Newbie here looking for strength and friends. I'm nearing the end of my three-month supervised diet and am hoping to have surgery in September. Sounds crazy, but I am excited and scared at the same time. So many people I have spoken with who have had RNY have said that they hated themselves before their surgery and weight loss. Being a RuPaul fan, I truly believe his saying: "if you can't love yourself, how the h*** you gonna love somebody else?"

With that being said, I have never hated myself, no matter what size I was/am. Did I dislike the way I looked and felt ... Oh, heck yeah! Did I hate the people who gave me the "you would be beautiful if you just lost some weight" malarkey? You bet I did! But, after three years of ruminating over this decision and putting it off twice, I am going for it!

Bottom line, I would love to learn from you all. You are wearing the "been there, done that" shirt and I admire those who share their path to success with others.

Thanks all ... And continued good luck on your journey!

Welcome Jen! This is a crazy ride and you will continue to feel a wide array of emotions as you walk this path.

If I can be of any help to you, please dont hesitate to contact me on here. I check in here just about every day.

Best of luck to you. With your attitude, you wont need a lot of help! Loving yourself is the biggest hurdle to jump in my opinion and since you already love yourself the rest is going to be easy!

Welcome Jen! This is a great group and very supportive! Glad you joined us on this journey together!
