I was banded on 7-23-12. I started the process 5-7-12. I have been on the site pretty much daily since April. This is a great site and very informative. I learned alot on here already. My process was fairly fast from what I've read on here. I'm happy I had this procedure done. After the port pain goes away I know I will feel so much better. Not to sound cliche, but I know if I can do this anyone can. The thought of the pre op diet sounded impossible at the time. I followed my docs orders to the t. I made it through and am on the way to a healthier lifestyle. Thanks in advance to those welcoming me. I plan to be a daily user for the long haul.

I've been on this journey for a few months, should get my approval next week. But I just got the results from my endoscopy polyps I had removed.... I have been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors. Cancer. I have cancer. It's truly a miracle to me that they found this, and that they wouldn't have found it had I not chose to get this surgery. That a woman of 25 would not receive an endoscopy just because, but I made the decision. I'm horrified. My daughter just turned 1... I can't even look at her without tearing up. Why is this happening to me when I am sitting her dieting my ass off, walking, preparing mentally for me to get my weight and life n better health, and now …

Hi everyone I have been reading here for a couple weeks and I think it is Amazing how supportive you all are. The things I need to know are: - understood we must follow a diet but does that mean no more chocolate or wine ever again??? Sounds crazy but I'm an obese lady and would love to have a tool to help me but I seriously never want to have that last taste of sweets! I am active but hypothorid so the weight is going no where! I'm thinking lap band may be a great tool to help with portions and the like but after reading... I'm thinking no one here enjoys A treat every now and then.... Good if you can do without... Great actually! But I simply don't know a lif…

  6. Two years ago I went to Sturgis Bike Week in South Dakota. I weighed about 250-257. We are going again this year and I currently weigh 176. I was looking at the pictures from last time and I couldn't believe them. The pictures this year will be so much more fun to take. I can't wait to post them here. I was buying XL or 2XL t-shirts last time and now I will be buying large. Even though the weight loss has really slowed down, it's still exciting to see the changes. Here's a picture from 2 years ago and one taken just a few weeks ago. I will post more after vacation.

I was sleeved on 7-9-12..in the hopsital for 4 days. while in hospital, stilled continued to receive my depression meds (get panic attacks and have generalized anxiety disorder) . Came home on Friday 7-13 and on 7-15 (my 29th wedding anniversary) I found myself in the psych ward. Couldve knocked me over with a feather. Never in my wildest dreams, did I ever think somethink like this could happen to me. Apparently, I had a psychotic break and tried to kill myself (said I ate 50 Ativan). I remember none of this. I had my sleeve back in October, down in San Deigo' at Pacific Bariatic. My surgeon was Janos Taller. He did a really good job. My problem is that i've only lost 40 lbs. I've been stuck there for 3 or 4 months. I lost 14 lbs. before surgery, and 26 since. I'm sure there must be something wrong!.My middle still holds a lot of weight. I've been told I should get down to 132. I don't know how to do that! Can someone out there help me?

So. Here is an update on where I stand with getting this surgery done. I started this process in early april and am finally almost done. I have a weigh in appointment on Tuesday just to show that I am continuing to lose a little bit of weight, then after that I have a nicotine test (my final one) on Wednesday and once I receive the results from that I can schedule my appointment with the surgeon hopefully the 2nd or 3rd week of august (if she doesn't decide to take a vacation) and then once I meet with her we schedule the surgery date. Im sooo excited. I've had a couple minor setbacks but nothing that has brought me down. Im trying to stay positive and remember that this …

My story is short but I just thought I would share my reason for surgery! I'm young, (24) and have had high blood pressure since I was 21. Diabetes runs in my family and I'm Lucky enough to have never gotten it. However when I was 22 after being married for about 6 months I notice that I had gained way to much weight... I was up to 330. I stopped drinking soda. I however do not seem to be doing so well with the whole exercise thing. My body hurts so bad, I can walk 2 or 3 minutes and I can barely stand. Hey everyone, I am 4 days into my two week Optifast diet an have been told twice today that I have bad breath even though I just brushed my teeth. I know ketosis can cause this , but my question is when does it stop ? The idea is to be in ketosis for most of the weight loss phase, right ? So does that mean as long as I am eating low carb I will have an offensive odor coming from my mouth? I have tried mouth wash, gum, brushing teeth and mints . They briefly and barely help. Any tips or hope on when this will stop would be so greatly appreciated! I know it's a small price to pay to be healthy , but yuck !

Okay guys, I had my surgery on Tuesday , July 17 th and that night was rough and the following morning. By yesterday afternoon it was great. I also had my hiatal hernia repaired . I love me some SF icicle pops and the sipping of Water and broth is good. They removed the drain yesterday afternoon and that helped my pain tremendously. I cannot say enough about how Dr. Washington and Emily have been towards me, they both are very dedicated to there work and patients, very passionate about us all. They don't make a lot of surgeons that way anymore. The staff at Conway Medical Center have been fantastic. They have treated me so good that I might decide to stay a week..…

Finished my last NUT class today and at the end of the class I was to take my stress test. My blood glucose has been very irradict lately and I was bottoming out so had to postpone the test long enough to get it back up. The tech finished hooking up the wires to run the test and he noticed an unusual heart beat. He called the cardiologist in charge and they decided that I would have to go to the cardiolgist for clearance. They did agree to submit my paper work for approval. Rats! another holdup. The blood glucose did not impact the test according to the tech but still wondering about that.

Hi Everyone! I've been going through some major heath issues that forced the doctors to take the Fluid out of my band. I have been down for the count for over a year and finally was just diagnosed with Lyme Disease and have started treatment. I have gained all but about 20 lbs back. I'm looking forward to getting back to exercise and a better diet. The band saved me from getting even bigger, but I'm looking forward to getting back to my weight loss! I am looking for recommendations for free online calorie counters and fitness logs. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Moe128

I just registered and the auto-message suggested I post here first. Basically, I am 3 days post-op. I refused WLS for a long time and when I finally decided to do it, VSG was my only option because everyone I know with the band has failed and everyone I know who had bypass is either nearly bald or has an eating disorder (my spouse included). I felt that VSG was a way that I can lose weight while maintaining a certain nutrition level to be healthy. Anyway, on May 9th I had my first consultation. I wasn't hopeful because I don't have the typical story that many obese people have. I am a runner. Up until the day before surgery I was still running. I don't have any co-mor…

  27. Hi all Although I had my gastric sleeve 8 months ago I have to be honest and say that, whilst I have dipped in and out of weight loss forums both leading up to and after my op, I have not really been actively involved. Now, I feel so passionate about my weight loss surgery and the results that I have already achieved that I thought why not share it with people who are either going through the same thing and feel as on top of the world as I do, or are maybe considering having the sleeve and want to talk to somebody who can give first hand experience (and because I have most likely run out of friends and family to bore with my elation now!!). At that point I hit a life changing event and the stress threw me into a downward spiral. In addition, my original port was bad and I wasnt able to get an adjustment for 3 months until it was replaced. I have never recovered motivationally and have gained 35 pounds back. I couldn't hardly walk or lay down it felt like it would never end. So I went to emergency and the doctor said I have gallstones. I called my surgeon and he has me coming in to see him on Wednesday. The problem is the pain is still there not as back because I have been taking vicodin around the clock and really bad headaches that have not gone away. Help!! I have heard you vmcan get gallstones from rapid weight loss. Has anyone else experience this? I am now 5 months post-op and so happy for the 42 pound loss bit the pain is crazy!!

I also had not yet thought of myself as being "big enough" to need such drastic measures. For those of you who have colitis, can you take medication that is approved for the sleeve? I dont want to take steroids that will cause weight gain and I cant take anti-inflammatories. I dont know how I can go back to work with this fatigue and cramping. Does it ever let up?
