Today I went through clothes way in the back of my closet that I haven't been able to wear in a long time. I felt like I was shopping from my own home. It was great to put on old favorites and have them fit! I went to dinner with my husband and felt pretty for the first time in a long time. I'm not near to the weight I want to be, but for now I'm going to enjoy the little victories! It's amazing how two less pant sizes will do for your self esteem.

I have been learning here for quite some time, thanks for all the helpful info on here! I am currently at the end of month 1 of a 3 month medically supervised diet for my insurance. I don't want to lose too much in the 3 months because I don't have any other health issues and won't be qualified for surgery under 40 bmi with my insurance. I just attended the required seminar this week and am looking forward to setting a surgery date. Thanks in advance for the support here!!!

I am 29 years old and have struggled my whole life with weight fluctuations. I've always exercised but struggled to lose weight. In the last one and a half years I have exercised twice a day Monday to Friday, morning training was an hour of intense crossfit and in the afternoon I would go for a run. Saturday was 2 hrs of crossfit and Sunday a 10km run. My weight has stayed at 93kg. I'm a qualified chef so I know what's good for me and what's not. As you can imagine I was getting very depressed. I refused to go out to restaurants or even go on any social events as I was so unhappy with myself. My partner's dad had just had a sleeve due to his diabetes. So it was from wa…

My Story. Well, if that isn't a loaded title I don't know what is. I have so many stories. I guess since this is a weight loss forum, I should start with the story of my weight. That tale shakes out more like a timeline, really. Childhood: Chubby kid. Recall dieting with my mom as early as the third grade. High School: Got down to about a size 8-10. Used Jenny Craig or Nutri Systems. . . Can't even remember which one. Most of College: Gained it all back and then some. Darn those Provolone grilled bagels at the Coates Center and Queso and Tortillas from TC's. Senior Year: Jenny Craig again. Modest weight loss, but this time it seemed to stick. And then the…

Tomorrow i go for my psyc evaluation which completes the last of my insurance requirements. I had to provide 6 month managed weight loss programs with a registered Dr. or Nutrionist which i completed this month. I believe they are submitting for insurance approval either Monday or Tuesday. I have 2 classes that are manditory and are scheduled for Aug 2nd and Aug 9th. I'm thinking i will be banded sometime at the end of Aug a perfect birthday gift. I'm becoming very excited knowing I will be putting an end to obesity for the rest of my life. For those of you that are on the pre op liquid diet when you were instructed to start that? i bought a camera recently so i can take…

Let me start over, I was typing this then it went away! Here goes! I was pick from a "lottery" to be in a study through my ins. about weightloss surgeries. I was hoping to get the sleeve because I've seen others do amazing with it, but I was chosen for lap band. Back in Apr. I did all the appts. with all the specialist and did my 2 week liquid diet. on the last day of the diet I had appendicitist and had emergeny surgery. So they put my file on hold. I got a call two days ago saying the panel chose lap band and I have to have it within the month. I start work Aug. 10 so they scheduled it for Aug 7. I dont even know what to think about all this. I'm freaking out. I do…

June Sleeve Gurl here. Its been 3 weeks since my sleeve surgery and things were a bit rocky in the beginning. I went back for my 2 week after surgery appt. I could not hold down any liquids. Mind you, this was the FIRST week home from surgery. When I went to see my doctor he had me go down to x-ray and I had to take this AWFUL tasting liquid and thats when it happened, when we were finished, I tried to turn over to get off the table and I let it all out...what ever it was came up and out. I spent 3 more days in the hospital with my doctor trying to figure out what happened. Things are looking up, I'm holding food (protein & vitamins) down now. The good news is the …

All in all, not doing to bad. Only real complaint is heartburn feelings and the pop rocks throat sensation. I hope it stops very soon! Procedure went well... Liver was nicely shrunk. I lost 25lbs preop, gained some back thanks to the IV bag. I'm not complaining at all, I expected it. Sore and can't sleep at all, I have maybe slept a total of two hours since surgery on Tuesday am. Hoping tonight breaks that cycle. I hope all my fellow July 17th'ers are doing well and saying prayer for the upcoming roster! I'll keep ya posted. If anyone has the heartburn magic antidote... Post away!

So today was my psych evaluation, I went in, waited for 45 minutes before she even called me in. Then, She had me take a 165 question true false test, which took about 30 minutes. And I waited again, this time for another 40 minutes, Then we went and had our little interview, She asked me about any sort of past trauma I may have had, any sort of huge change, any sort of issues whatever. Then she asked about what I expect after the surgery, where I expect to be after a year. Then she pulled out the stupid test results and told me that the test says that I'm suffering from severe anxiety and depression and that she can not ethically allow me to proceed with the surgery at t…

Just went for my cardiac clearance this morning - I'm 28 years old, I have no issues, ekg is totally normal, I had surgery 3 years ago at almost 30 pounds heavier with no issues, my bp was 109/80, I have been exercising regularly, cardiologist said everything looks fine to him, BUT he wants to do an echocardiogram and stress test, just because of family history. I now have to wait another TWO WEEKS until they could even schedule them. Have my 3rd and final visit with the NUT this afternoon, have lost almost 9% (only had to do 5%) - everything else was in place and I was planning to be able to submit after today. I'm just irked that he said everything looks just fine,…

Hello, Bewildered here... Thinking about the lap band as a tool to help me loose weight. At the point of being tired of having too many aches and pains everyday. I admit I am not as active as I once was and that is no ones fault but my own. However over a 20 year marriage I have been progressivly gaining weight. An aproximate 110 pounds ( not happy or proud about it). But as I research the lap band one thing is common among all the stories... Diet and exercise. At what point does diet and exercise stop working to cause someone to seek out surgical means of weight loss? Agian my name says it all, but I am still Bewildered if this is a good choice. Any advice?

Hello from San Diego! Just got banded three days ago and already am losing weight, though I know it's water weight at the start. Still in a bit of pain, but not bad. My surgeon cleared me today to start drinking "full" liquids, and I had some protein shakes that were quite a relief after being on clear liquids for a few days. I, too, look forward to getting off of the weight yo-yo and being able to maintain weight loss for a change.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Piper and have been reading this forum for a long time. I'm finally ready to jump in and participate. I just got my financing lined up to get lapband. I've done the yo-yo diet thing for way too long. My BMI is bouncing around just under and just over 35, and I have no major health issues, so my insurance won't cover it. My sister is a doctor (neonatal) and my mom is a nurse practitioner; they (in addition to my husband) are very supportive of me taking this step to have a tool to help me with my weight loss. Over the past couple years I've read everything I can about it...the good, the bad, and the really ugly...and I still feel…

Hello! I've been lurking on this site for quite a while and I figured, now that my surgery date is so close, it's time take a more active approach. Never in my whole life have I been at an appropriate weight - my whole family is like this. About three years ago my mother had gastric bypass (the roux-en-y surgery) and even though she complains about it a lot (she's quite prone to dramatics) I could easily see that it changed her life. It took a while for me to think about it, but I finally decided early January that this was a step that I wanted to take in creating a long, happy, healthy life. I'm 24, and starting a new school in the fall, and I'm going to have a wh…

Hey everyone, I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I am new to the site as a registered member but have been on periodically over the past few months reading as much as I possibly could in order to get a real world education on the sleeve. I actually visited the surgeon for the first time on Jan 26th, got his preliminary approval to move forward and to decide which route I wanted to go. My wife is actualy a surgical RN and works in bariatric rooms so I was pretty sure which direction I wanted to go based on her recommendations, but still needed the consult with the doctor to help make the right choice. It looks like I will be scheduling the surgery for sometime i…

Hi all, My name is Betty I got my band feb. 29th of this year. I have yet to get the results I want. I got the 14cc band and I just got my 4th fill today. I am up to 10cc right now. I wonder has anyone had the problem where you feel a little short of breath after fills? The band has helped me shed 40lbs, but I feel that it has not helped me a lot. I am still always hungry and I try to figure out when I am satisfied. My biggest hurdle is the over eating. I am almost at my 5 month mark. Does anyone have any particular signs of fullness? I know all people are different, but it would help to know. Thanks!

Hi everyone! My name is Kelly and I came across this forum just today and I've been on it reading all the posts for hours. I actually feel like I know some of you already! Everyone seems so supportive and helpful and funny and it seems like a great little family and I hope to go through all of this with you. I'm 30 years old and a mom to Carter (5) and Casey (4) and I've been married to my husband Dan for 6 years but we've been together since I was 15. I've always yo-yo dieted but it's been down 20, up 30 and I've reached my all time high. I weigh more than I did when I was pregnant with my boys and let me tell you, I was NOT a cute little pregnant chick. I am addicted to…

I am scheduled for Sleeve Surgery August 6, 2012, if approved, and I was wondering why all of you chose the Sleeve and note the Gastric Bypass or the Lap. I am very, very scared and honestly need help in choosing a procedure. I feel the doctors in the Northern NJ area are pushing the sleeve because they want more experience and more information about it, but I am so scared. Any comments are welcome.

Hi. I am new to this forum. I went with my dad to a WL seminar in January to support him. Going to the meeting and hearing other people's lifelong weight battles really did something to me. I found out my insurance would cover the surgery and from that moment I was hooked, lined and sinkered. I began the process in January. I went to a nutritionist and had a psych eval. I also had to have an upper Gi test done. I was jumping through all the hoops I had to. I was scheduled for surgery on July 17th at 9:30am. I had to have pre op testing the day before. I had bloodwork, an EKG, a pregnancy test. They sent me home with a special soap to use 3 times before surgery. My husband…

Ok, so I spend quite a bit of time with my dad and step mom. I haven't told them I'm having this surgery, and we go to the farmers market every Saturday and then have lunch after. They are going to ask questions. And I want to tell them, but I'm afraid of what they will say... maybe judgement... but my question is, how do you keep this a secret from people you spend a lot of time with?
