I’m baaaack! It’s been a wicked super long time since I’ve been on here. I feel like it’s time to reestablish myself on this site. I’m hoping that by becoming more proactive in EVERY aspect of this “banding process” that I’ll have success! Here’s a little mini-bio on me: I’m 27 years old. I will be 28 sooner than I’d like! *haha* I was banded (I hate that terminology, it sounds like torture) on August 14th, 2009. It will be three years in a couple weeks! I wish I could say I’ve been successful, but I haven’t been. I was 309 at the time of my surgery and I am now 275. So that means I’m down 34 pounds. Just recently I have moved to a new area, got a new Dr. and a new team to work with… And I feel very motivated and positive again.

Throughout the past three years I have learned a LOT. I blame myself for my failure with the band. Up until recently I haven’t used it to its full advantage. I had been eating too much, drinking while I ate and had not done ANY working out. The most important thing that I have learned is that the band is a tool. It’s not magic. I still have to eat right, and exercise. I think that a lot of people, including myself, see all of the success stories and think “OMG I can totally do this! It’s so easy!” It’s not easy. It’s a struggle and it’s a lot of hard work! BUT I am happy to say that I finally feel ready to put in the hard work and I am BEYOND ready to see the results. I look forward to sharing, learning, teaching and growing through this process and hope this site helps!

Good for you! Here's to success! I am down 46 pounds and I recently quit losing and it had nothing to do with a plateau, it had to do with what I was putting in my mouth! I am back on track and hopefully making better choices!

I know how you feel. I posted I'm back about a week ago. I have been eating the what I am suppose to. It is hard for about a week now. I was so pumped because I was losing weight and today all of the sudden I feel a little down. We have about the same weight to lose. I have celiac and PCOS. Dietery restriction make it harder. I wish all the luck.

I think that having people to talk to that are going through the same things that you are is a HUGE help! It's totally normal to feel down from time to time. The important thing is to always pick yourself back up. Don't get discouraged. Good luck to you too!

Kjoy & Webb designer - Don't give up!! This lifelong journey we are on will have ups & downs, if we stick together we can make it! I am currently on an up. Had a doctors appointment today, lost 4.6 lbs in 2 weeks. Feeling really good about myself right now. However 3 weeks ago I was miserable. I wasn't loosing weight & I was frustrated as hell. I didn't give up, I spent more time on this site looking for support, i took the recommendations given by my co-banders and kept trying. Finally I got results.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is you are on your way. You are here, looking for support and you didn't quit. I know you will see results. This is for life! We will make it!!!! This I know. You are doing well, keep it up! **hugs**

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
