    Big fill

I had a big fill and had to break out my manual on how to eat all over again!! LOL. Nice restriction, I am staying full on smaller amounts. Broke a plateau and am feeling great!

    Is this normal?

What you are experiencing is normal. I was not hungry at all for the first week and when I got turned loose to eat mushy food, 3 bites and I was done. My surgeon had put a small fill in my band at the time of surgery, I could drink fluids with no problem, but had a small amount of restriction from the start. Good luck
  3. I am a year out and had an easier time saying no to all of it last year when I had just been banded. This year, different story. I haven't gained. But I haven't lost either.

    Needing A Bit Of Encouragement

I lost 28 pounds the first 2 months. Not a single pound the third month. I have since lost another 31 pounds in 9 months. Not a lot, but I do the math and it comes to 59 pounds in a year. This is a marathon, not a sprint. It will start again.

    Remember Where You Came From.

Everything you all just said is so true. And if someone gets nasty, tell them where to go and carry on with your life knowing that they have to live with their crappy attitude their whole life.
  8. Try talking to your doc. Even a 1/4cc unfill can ease your vomiting

    Bubbling

I call it gurgling. It is normal. It means your band is tight. Mine is like that in the morning also. It loosens as the day goes by. Be careful swallowing solid foods when you are that tight. It could get stuck.

    Who Needs Breakfast?

One of my worst stuck expieriences was with a scrambled egg. OWWWW! So now I have a protein shake in place of breakfast and I have my first solid food at the time I normally have a protein shake. Also, I told my surgeon that I couldn't take chicken breasts, that they always got stuck but that chicken thigh meat went down ok. She said that was fine, that she just wanted me to get all my protein in and that if breast meat hurt me, to not eat it, plain and simple. I have gone in twice thinking I would get a fill and didn't and gone in thinking I wasn't getting a fill and got one. They know more than I do at this point, so I will defer to them. Good luck in your journey!
  11. Refried Beans with hot sauce, melted cheese and scrambled egg get me thru every mushy stage I have had so far. Some times after a fill, you may have to be on mushies for a meal or two. Brown up a some chorizo, not the cheap greasy stuff, good stuff from a good meat market. And when I say brown it, I mean cook it! Not just till it is no longer pink, make the out side look golden brown and delicious. Good flavor makes all the difference. If you meals are bland and you are bored with them, you will eat more. Now, split up the cooked meat by three. Put two of these piles in ziploc bags for later use and put them in the freezer. Mix one portion with a can of refried beans. the regular size can, not the family size can. Next, take this mixture and spread it in an ice cube tray and freeze. When it is all frozen, pop them out and put those bean pops in a ziploc in your freezer. Tada, you now have a flovorful, pre-measured, Protein rich accompaniment to almost anything. Mix one up with an egg and taco sauce. Try it with fresh tomato and some mexican cheese for a semi taco expierience. Stir in some rotisserie chicken you have chopped up super fine and be prepared to be stuffed! Good luck on your journey!

    My Band

No one, I repeat, NO ONE can make this decision but you. Don't do this for any one but yourself. If you have too many questions, wait, that surgeon is not going any where. See a therapist, do what makes you comfortable. But in the end, it is all up to you.

    Am I The Only One

I thought the same way, but, you can eat everything (with a few exceptions) that you did before, just not in the same quantities. Be careful with weight gain before surgery, my doc told me that if I gained too much weight, my liver would be inflamed and other complications could keep her from doing the surgery. Eat what you like, but do NOT over do it, hard I know, but you got this!

    Excersise Actually Making Me Gain????

Your doc is totally right! Your body will freak out and think that you are starving and will shut down all systems and keep it's fat stores. Also, think of this, if your body is gripping tight to that fat and you are working out like mad, all your calories are building muscle. I know that it goes against everything in your being, but every three days, throw in a high calorie day, it doesn't necessarily need to be ice cream and cake, but eat some potatoes with butter, that kind of thing. Your body will snap out of it. I noticed that my most major weight loss came after I had a bad day or two and then got back on the nutritious food wagon. Did some research about why this is and found out some interesting things. Do some research, check out the MFP community pages for some answers to your work out questions, skinny people can be smart too. =)

    Breakfast

I make a Breakfast casserole of eggs, some kind of breakfast meat, canned artichoke hearts, cheese etc. I then portion it out for the week. Easy to microwave and super yummy. I also brown up a pound of good chorizo. I mix half with a can of fat free refried Beans and the other half I save for another breakfast casserole. I take the bean and chorizo mix and spread it in an ice cube tray and freeze. My ice tray measures an 1/8th of a cup. After they are frozen I put those little frozen cubes of love in their own Ziploc and when it is time for breakfast, I scramble an egg and microwave a cube. Mix the two together, sprinkle a tablespoon of cheese and some salsa on top. YUMMO!

    "normal Meal"

I had scrambled eggs and refried beans with cheese and salsa. YUMMO!
  21. I have a protein shake on my way to work at 6am, then have something small, like a pouch of oatmeal or 3/4 cup of a breakfast casserole. When I hit the green zone, it was impossible to swallow anything in the morning.

    Making Meat Work For You

I have this same problem with beef. My husband brought home a flank steak that had been pre-marinated by the butcher and oh my word was it tender. I can eat it with no problem at all. I still have to take tiny bites and chew like mad, but it never is uncomfortable! I also cannot eat chicken breast. No matter how it is cooked! So, I either eat skinless thighs, or I grind the white meat up with my kitchen aid grinder attachment.
  23. all foods are different to all people. Believe it or not, I wouldn't have a problem with the peanut butter, but with the strawberries! They don't go down as easy as you would think they would, at least not with me. At this point, you will eat so little, that to have a small amount is not going to hurt. I just had 10 wheat thins and 4 tablesppons of artichoke dip. I am full! and my craving is over!
  24. I now eat with a baby spoon. If it is too big for that spoon, it is too big for that band. Glad to hear you are well.
